How can I keep my toddler from destroying stuff?

My son messes up the dressers, messes up his and his sister bed frames. Is it only going to get more messy as he gets older? I can’t keep my eyes on him 24/7 cause I work four days out of a week and try to deep clean my whole house on my days off. I’ll wipe down his dressers, and by the end of the night, they’ll be messy again. Lol, it’s mostly his handprints but its food handprints or play paint handprints or crayon marks. I go thru magic erasers like crazy!

Put things he shouldnt have out of reach. Lock it up. If hes a toddler he should be directly supervised.

No food in bedrooms take away paints and crayons till he knows how to use properly and has some respect for property. All learned behavior.

Time out. Say no. You are the boss

Put everything away that he shouldn’t have while unsupervised (paint, crayons, etc), keep food out of the bedrooms and wipe his hands after he eats, and use baby gates to keep him out of rooms you don’t want him messing up. Otherwise, get used to it. He’s a toddler and toddlers are MESSY. Yes, it will get worse before it gets better.

Wash his hands after eating . Don’t let him walk around with food or paint . Put things like that out of reach unless you have time to watch him . I always got my kids to put away one toy when they chose another . Any toys left on the floors were picked up by them before their bath . Good luck .
If they have never been allowed to do things wrong , they will just expect it to be their job .

Keep things locked up in places where he can’t get to them. Maybe invest in some baby proofing stuff? Baby gates, cabinet locks, etc.

Tables are good places for those things

The simple answer, Supervise your child. Toddlers should never be unsupervised. They are naturally curious and are going to get into things and make messes if you do not watch them.

Stop letting him eat around the furniture. Don’t let him have markers or anything like that.

Umm. Make him stay at the table while eating. Then wash hands… stay sitting at a designated area for arts so crayons and markers don’t get taken from that spot

He needs you to teach him right from wrong. That’s your job. Mom’s are never off work. U have 18 years of no days off.

Prevention before punishment. Baby proof everything. Take away all stuff he cant have if not supervised. No food in bedrooms.

Your raising a artist LOL. Messes come enjoy them and try not to make to big of a deal. Spend the time with your child. You will NEVER get that time back. You don’t want to miss the memories and you don’t want him to miss them with you. You never know what may heppen you may not be here tomorrow.

First of all eat in the kitchen, paint in the kitchen etc. he should be supervised with those things! They should not be out somewhere where he can reach them. You want a clean house then watch them and lock stuff up.

Make him sit at table and eat.

My kids clothes go in my room and gates r up but better gates r coming my 4 yrs old can climb

Once you start making him clean up after himself, he won’t be so messy. Works every time!

Limit space for his play area and keep wipes handy. I use different rooms for different activities

Make him clean the mess won’t seem so fun after that. Worked on my kids grandchildren and now great grandchildren

Do not allow eating unless he’s sitting at the table, and be sure to wash his hands with him afterwards.

Enjoy those fingerprints they are only little for a short time

Definitely limit his space area

Spare the rod spoil the child.

Put all the paint, crayons and whatever else he can get into, up where he can’t reach it. No food allowed away from the table.

I refuse to allow food, paint, markers, crayons, playdoh ect anywhere but the kitchen table. Then once theyre done, hands and faces get washed up. Thats how i kept my furniture mess free.

I let my kids color on the windows with dry erase marker. It made them feel like they were doing something forbidden and it was super easy to clean

this is my daughter matti. She is always being watched but it literally takes her 2 seconds to get into something she shouldn’t and destroy it. She climbs on any and everything and can get things that you’d never expect her to be able to reach. Some kids are just messy Tasmanian kids. I don’t ever have a clean house due to this child. And it’s frustrating when someone says oh lock it up, make she she can’t reach it, she should be directly supervised. Most moms don’t get it, I didn’t understand until I had matti. Just do the best you can, you got this momma!!!

You can’t do anything really my son is 2 an is the same I clean at night when they all asleep on bed I just give him toys to play with like bricks an he puts them all in boxes

Thats how toddlers learn. They love to be messy, just have to guide him, teach him, and redirect him. It’s not easy but you can do it. I worked full time while being a single mom. Its not easy but so worth it!
