When my son was about 16 months he would take off on me and I had an older daughter so I would have to leave her to catch him. I talked to the pediatrician about a harness and he said it was a matter of safety and it wouldn’t hurt him developmentally. I have three boys now and have used it for all three. The only caution I would have is just hold it to keep them safe don’t use it like an animal. Ignore any glares or comments you are keeping your child safe and that is all that matters
Discipline. Obviously the kid hasn’t been taught how to act in public or disciplined for their actions!
Google the video also of how much easier having that leash makes them to kidnap. I had a foster kid who was autistic and he was a runner. It was rough!
Baby leash!! Was a life saver with my first one he was a bolter. Anyone who has an issue with putting one on a kid to keep them safe is a moron.

A harness, we did that with my brother and it worked real well.
Nothing wrong with the leash. Keeps your child safe. Ignore nasty comments. You are not hurting your child.
