You should braid her hair throughout the day, and bedtime. It really helps in terms of keeping the hair from tangled.
I called my kids bluff. She is full of drama and after brushing a spot I knew that didn’t hurt and she screamed I straight up told her to stop it or i will make it hurt for real. She sat there and didnt fuss one bit.
Harsh but hell I got fed up with it. Some spots i know are tender, but heck gotta build up the tolerance while still being easy… btw she is 6
Detangling spray and start at bottom and go up.
Get this brush! It has been a total game changer. It’s a fingerbrush!
I use a conditioning oil, a wet brush, start at the bottom and keep my daughter in braids as much as possible. Definitely for sleep.
There was no such thing as tenderheaded with my mom. She just got it done as quick as possible grew outta being tenderheaded real fast people used to be mortified watching me brush my hair later in life
Detangle spray and a wet brush!!
Use a pick like is used for an afro. My husband use to have a very curly and big hair. The pick will take most tangles then brush
Show is the hair so we can give better advice. Different kids need different hair care.
When she’s in the bath, comb through her hair with conditioner still in it with a hair pick. Then use a leave in detangler and a wet brush when she is out of the bath. If she has a lot of tangles from sleeping, out her hair in a loose braid for sleeping.
I just use my biosilk on my babies hair, after she shampoos and conditions of course. Then brush out the ends first, then roots to ends.
My kids have wicked curly hair … we use this on them all the time
Start from the bottom and brush her hair with detangler spray
Make your own detangler (spray bottle, warm water, and conditioner) It is a lot cheaper than buying pre-made kind and you can control the amount of conditioner in the bottle.
Put a little conditioner in your water bottle. Makes a big difference.
My daughter is 4 and the same way. Always been tender headed. I’ve yet to find something that truly works. I do braid her hair but it doesn’t seem to help us much.
My daughter has curly thick hair. She’d go to get dad’s for a week and on get return, I’d spend and hour getting through the mess.
I braided her hair every night, when she was home, so she could get through it, but she also had a satin pillow case. I couldn’t fix that was going on at dad’s.
Finally she chopped get hair off and it’s so much easier!
Be careful with detangler. Cheap ones are full of paraffins and the waxy build up will make their hair look greasy. You’re better off doing deep conditioner treatments on a regular basis.
I only brush my daughters hair after baths. I use a detangling spray and a wet brush. Then I separate her hair into chunks and hold each part at the roots and gently brush through each part.
Dose she have a lot of tangles? If so, you can get deranged spray by Suave for cheap. That might help. It also smells really good.
I use lots of conditioner and or detangler, then when I am brushing it out as gently as I can I get her mind involved with something else. 2 things work the best for me. 1 magic. I keep a nickel or quarter in my hand with the brush. As I am brushing it out I say ting ting ting with each stroke. Then ask her if she can hear the treasure in her hair. I keep this up till it is all brushed out then pretend to unlock the treasure box on the back of her hair and let the money fall to the floor. She gets excited about it. If she doesnt want her treasure that night we learn new kid songs. Frarazacha or something she really has to think about pronouncing. Keeps her occupied. She still fights but not as much
My mom used to rip my hair out but my dad on the other hand would brush my hair after my shower, he’d start at the bottom of my hair and go very slowly up my hair until it was all unknotted
Johnson to Johnson detangler its a godsend. Seriously spray lot and brush. My girls wake up with knots. Once they see the spray come out they sit still if i dont they do that.
My girls were the same way… You’d think I was killing them when I was brushing their hair. I started using detangler spray, putting their hair in small sections to brush it, and start at the bottom and work your way up the section… It worked WONDERS for us. I haven’t had any problems since…
Wetbrush used with detangling spray
My daughter absolutely hates anything being done to her hair so I use leave in conditioner after her bath (the only time she’ll let me brush her hair). There’s one at Walmart called “Found Chia Seed Oil Leave in Conditioner” and not only does it work really well with my daughter’s curls it smells absolutely amazing. I work from the ends upwards to the roots too, so there’s a lot less pulling.
I try and make sure she has no tangles before I wash her hair. And use conditioner and detangler.
I used to do my daughters in the bath when I had conditioned it. Then she slowly got used to me doing her hair and she had a sensitive scalp.
Lana Harris Freeman , yes thats the same way I brush my great granddaughter hair
This is my daughters hair. I use coconut oil, hair food from the supermarket, detangling spray and a water spray bottle mixed with conditioner. but to maintain it and make it easier for her and I, braids are great.
Have her brush her hair while in the shower… specially during conditioner time. It helps get the conditioned to all those roots while detangling… then afterwards wring out most of the water and brush it while it’s still wet and then let it air dry
Slather her hair with conditioner. Let it set then brush it through. It makes it easier to get the tangles out. Rinse & braid. If she sleeps in braided hair it doesn’t tangle! In the morning you can style her tangle free however you want. Then braid again before she goes to bed.
Really moisturize her hair it also depends on texture
I have mixed kids and it’s a 10 leave in conditioner is expensive but doesn’t require much to get the tangles out! After it dries, it makes their curls so bouncy and I can run my fingers thru it! It’s worth every penny.
Cut it. What’s more important: no pain to your child or a style you decided looks great?
Bush her hair while shes still in the shower with conditioner in her hair. And again right after shes out and letting her hair dry. And in the mornings when she gets up.
I’ve always had a sensitive head. I always use leave in conditioner spray. Not Your Mother’s brand is awesome & smells so good!
They had a brush comb on qvc during Christmas was shaped like a animal but it was no tangle brush . I got 2for our friends twins and they loved them.they are five years old and was using it to brush their long hair.
My oldest granddaughter (2yrs) is tender headed. After her bath, just before I get her out, I put a half pea size dab of conditioner in my palm, rub my hands together and then put it on her hair. Then I get her out and gently comb it out while it’s still wet. It works pretty good.
No tangles hair product. Fosters peace. Good stuff
Best thing, and I know it works very well, is brush down from the bottom of the hair. Gradually move up the hair.
Best ever is to put conditioner in and brush from the bottom up. Rinse thoroughly, and carefully) and plait ( braid) it straight away.
Paul Mitchell the detangler is a dentangling rinse out conditioner , also cutting some long layers into her hair should help
Add leave in conditioner first. Either spray in or rub in.
Brush it in the bath with conditioner in it, this helped me alot with TWO tender headed girls lol also the wet brushes are god send! Get a good detangler also, even if no tangles it helps to glide the brush through hair.
Also it’s a 10 or ouai leave in are AMAZING products!
The most important thing is the brush you are using. Allot of brushes made, pull on hair… If she doesn’t blow dry her hair and goes to bed at all with her hair wet, braid it first. If she gets tangles in her hair that are bad try to brush it out first, if it’s still bad take a pair of and cut upward. Do not cut sideways. When she is in the shower with the conditioner in her hair have her brush through her hair. The brush I attached in the picture is one of the best brushes ever. My daughter and I both have full thick hair. We have tried just about every brush. This is the only brush that didn’t hurt or pull our hair. It has small Bristol’s that glide through hair to help detangle and adds shine. They have amazing brushes but I don’t recommend you get one without the Bristol’s.
Wet brush and tons of detangler
Aussie Kids Detangler, Finding Dory, Bloomin’ Apple, 8 fl oz, Pack of 3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWB1FZL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UGBhEbSCV7EN9. Spray detangler
Wet hair. Large tooth comb. Starting from the bottom up.
My 2 girls have curls… it’s beautiful but horrible to comb or brush. But not since we do NO SHAMPOO, milk conditioner only and no problems since. But yep wet brush start at bottom to up
Try keeping her hair up. Like in a little bun or braided that helps alot.
Get a leave in with a good slip, pick it out wet starting at the bottom putting pressure on the scalp to lessen pulling, braids at bedtime and a silk pillowcase.
Wet brushes! Goes through anything and doesn’t hurt
Get some MilkShake Incredible milk and a wide tooth combo and it will be a breeze!
Start brushing at the tips then move up slowly it takes way longer but she’ll love you more for it!
First off get wide tooth comb…
Use spray leave in conditioner…
Start at bottom…
I have extremely heavy curly hair and this is what I do on few days I don’t wet in shower with conditioner
Conditioner first then shampoo
Silky soft no tugs
Its a 10 silk and a wet brush
Go from the bottom an work ur way up while holding her hair so it don’t pull as much
Use very little shampoo, only on the scalp (unless hair is very dirty) a good conditioner, a good detangler, a Wet brush or a Knot Genie brush. Go from bottom to top. Sometimes you have to fan out the knot, brush and repeat.
I condition my girls hair first and then right after put in leave in conditioner And brush it. I use goody ouchless brush.
A wide tooth comb for when its wet and a boar bristle brush for dry. When my daughter was a toddler, her hair was so long and curly that I kept it in a braid most of the time because after a day of hard play with her hair down and the curls started to look like dreads lol! When she got her first hair cut, just above her shoulders, she lost most of her curls
I have thick and long hair my entire life, I would suggest to brush her hair while it’s wet, spray the hair brush with a detangler and spray mid hair down. Then once you start getting snags hold the hair tight in your hand where you can separate the tangles and brushed hair and you work on that and repeat. Yet idk what kind of hair she has.
Start from the very bottom. Brush the ends and work your way up gently so that you’re not pulling the tangles at the top all the way down. There are also anti tear brushes you can use.
Wet brush, conditioner with every wash, detangling spray before brushing (only brush when wet). Hold the hair tight at the root so when it pulls, you can control it, and it won’t pull her. Brush out in sections.
Theres a spray you can get at target (and I like this one cuz lice grosses me TF out) it’s called “Boo! By cozy brand” kid tested and mom approved hair detangler/conditioner that “scares away lice”. I used it all the time when i worked for our local low income/no income clinic as a preventive.
This helps with my daughter long curly hair
Take her to get a nice short haircut. I had my hair up to my waist but i cried of pain due to the weight of my hair combing my hair was a torture as much as i loved my long hair i had to cut it for my own sake. Now i have a short bob cut and i love it.
Use a detangler brush and spay.
. I have a THICK head of hair. THICCC I guess you could say. Leave in conditioner or detangler was a life saver. And good shampoo too. Like whitney said, suave and even treseme !
No more tangles spray and a comb. My mom used to give me whiplash while brushing my hair when I was little. My boys had curly hair so I used no more tangles and a comb no tears. Make sure it’s dry before going out in this cold.
Detangling spray and the WET hairbrush. Love savers for my daughter! I also bought another hair brush and customized it with her name. She loves brushing her hair now.
Try brushing/combing in the shower with a loootttttt of conditioner. My hair does that sometimes and it’s straight and fine but it helps get it untangled
Well, the more I cried and threw a fit the worse my momma pulled, or hit me upside the head with the brush. I learned, and here we are 44 yrs later with the strongest noggin out there.
Deep condition! When the hair is dry put oil, olive, coconut or argan oil in the hair and brush from the bottom. Leave conditioner on for a while and don’t shampoo daily js a few times a week if dirty. Also when dry try Softee Hair and Scalp Conditioner argan oil, it smells really good my kids like it
She just needs to get use to the feeling of having her hair tugged bit by bit a small section at a time… Tying her hair at diffferent angles will help train the scalp… then the pain is less.
I used this on one of the kids I used to babysit and their hair was nothing but knots after her bath or swimming and I used this and let it sit for 5 minutes on damp hair and then just brush from bottom to root and it makes it 20x easier and takes the knots out almost effortlessly
After brushing it out from bottom to scalp, with detangle spray or coconut oil, put it in a soft braid before bed every night. In the morning it won’t have tangles ! If you don’t want the waves from the braid you can spray with water/leave in conditioner and brush them out.
She could have a sensory disorder. My daughter is the same way. She wouldn’t allow me to brush her hair for 4 months. We ended up cutting it super short.
When I wash my daughters hair I brush out the knots with the conditioner still in it then have her rinse it out, I’ve also taught her to brush her own hair with the conditioner in it. Once she gets out the shower, I use a leave in conditioner and brush again.
We shaved the back of my daughters head, use a wet brush and alot of coconut oil conditioner her hair is curly n super thick. She wears her hair down, no one can tell its shaved. She wore it down before we shaved it anyways.
Does she have curly hair
My daughter has straight thin hair that tangles so easily.
We use detangling spray. It’s in a purple bottle. And a wet brush. They are like $6 at Walmart. The hairdresser told us about them.
A regular pick or comb never worked on her
Wet brush, and rosemary with lavender oil spray. I used to call it princess spray and it worked everytime.
Lots of leave in conditioner, and I give her my phone to watch you tube on while I do it. Only time she gets electronics but she gets cradle cap on and off so shes always tender headed
Not sure if you have a jc pennys in your area. But the jc Penney salon has disney princess detangler brushes. They go through all types of hair like butter! My sister has very thick red curly hair and it goes through her hair like nothing. So i really recommend trying them
Wet brush is the only thing my daughter will use!
Seriously when she’s in the bath or shower use a wide toothed comb or brush when there is conditioner on her hair. It helped my 7 year old tremendously. Then when it dries there is no tangles.
Brush it while the conditioner is in her hair. Before you rinse it. 1 it gives a more even coat to the hair, 2 it doesnt hurt to brush it. 3 if you pour water to rinse and dont scrunch it with a towel it will stay detangled
START AT THE BOTTOM, detangle going up the hair strand one section at a time. It’s A LOT FASTER too. I taught my young step daughters (8 & 10) to comb their own hair. It works wonders avoiding hair breakage. They still keep their hair long.
And a brush she likes the name brand is called “wet” is doesn’t pull
Anti tangle spray it’s all I use on my daughters hair or she will scream
Detangling spray for kids after a bath with conditioner and then in the morning right when they get up and had a chance to wake up and get a brush designed for detangling
I got my daughter a brush for horse tails that literally was a detangling brush for horse hair. It works and it’s cute.
Conditioner in bath, then spray a leave in conditioner and let her comb/brush it with a new hairbrush. Make it fun! Let her count the times she brushes. Teach her how to help. If she gets the tats out first maybe she will let you brush without her crying. If not, go to a shorter cut. Good luck!
Wet Brush you can buy one at Walmart (less expensive) or salon (more expensive but good)
Try derme hair conditioner, it makes mine comb out with one stroke.
Buy leave in conditioner called 10. About $10 bucks but worth it. Good for your hair to. Good luck
Tell her to be stronger and explain as she gets older the stuff hurts more use leave in conditioner and just brush
No more tangles spray, a wet brush, and patience
I use it’s 10 on my daughters hair it’s a Leave in conditioner but it’s pricey
Well… the easiest and very effective way is to CUT HER HAIR.
