I’m looking at going to Cosmetology School, I have two babies 2 year old and 3 month old. My closest schools are an hour away in any direction. How do I make this work? I’ve thought about this since highschool and I feel like I’m ready to take the nexts steps to get there I just don’t know how. If I do this I can’t work so I can’t afford a sitter, and my fiancé works the hours the school is open but we make just enough to get by
Do you have a mom group in your town? Maybe you could trade out childcare?
You can 100% work around your school schedule…or wait until your kids are older and in school
Literally no other way unless you win the lottery
Get a work from home part time job you can do whenever you get the time and save for childcare, at which time you can enroll. Or work when hubs is home to watch the kids to save for childcare & tuition.
Call the school to see if they have any subsidized childcare or online classes you could do at home when the kids are napping, in bed, or when hubs is home to take care of them.
In the meantime, check out books, videos, etc. from the library and start learning so it’ll be easier once you do start school.
What do you want to do with your cosmetology license? Where there’s a will there’s a way!
You can do it, there are single moms who make 2 jobs, school and child raising happen. It’s gonna take discipline but it’s doable
I’m in the same. I like to go back go school but no clue how to survive.
I went to nursing school while working full time hours with 3 kids. I was in class and clinical Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and I worked 6 am to 10 pm on the weekends. I lived on coffee and energy drinks.
See if you qualify for subsidized childcare and financial aide for school and work on the weekends or evenings. There are ways to do things if you really want it.
Do it! Best decision I ever made. I did it when my older three kids were little. It was hard and stressful, but it is only one year of school and totally worth it. Such a versatile job and so many job opportunities and options and career choices within having your license to do hair. Call your help in and your forces and just focus on getting it done. You’ll be so glad you got licensed. Besides that it’s super fun. Also everyone has hair for the most part so that definitely gives you a shoe in the door for finding work and clients. Lol.
If you can find someone to help with the kids go for it. If not you might have to wait until the kids are older.
