How can I regulate my periods?

When I was 16, I had an ultrasound and showed I have cysts on my ovaries. So my periods have always been irregular. I may only have 1 or 2 periods naturally in a whole year. I’m now 27, and I have two children, ages 7 & 5. Iv has been trying for three years to have baby #3 with no success. It has been prescribed Prometrium to jump-start my periods and then has also taken five rounds of Clomid. Any advice to get my periods regular or any advice on which step to take next would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

That was me. I had to change my diet completely and I chosed to get off all meds. With diet and exercise I was able to get my period on track and boom conceived

Look up poly cystic ovarian synonym PCOS. Maybe it’s what is going on, maybe not. But if you think it is, there are different things you can do to help.

I went through the exact same thing and ultimately it was the Keto diet that not only helped to regulate my periods, but also to conceive my 2 children.

You have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Secondary infertility is real. And you need medical treatment for it. Weight loss and exercise will help treat your symptoms including infertility however you need to see a doctor for a proper plan.

Femara (letrazole) helped me conceive. I have PCOS & was told I don’t ovulate like I’m supposed too. Second round of that medicine I was pregnant. Then 2 years later conceived naturally!

Balance by alani nu!!!

Metformin helped me get pregnant with my son and I have pcos and have since I was diagnosed at 12

I would say it ain’t gonna happen I was like that I am surprised the doctor hasn’t told u unless they have a miracle drug now

I am sure maybe today but then sometimes we mess with Mother Nature, and maybe shouldn’t

I had a had a cyst on my ovaries and fell pregnant with twins twice naturally they did burst second time being pregnant

Sounds like you have PCOS. It’s going to sound counter productive but birth control. Take birth control for 6 months then when you go off it you should have a few months where you ovulate normally if your hormones, weight and everything else are in check. You really need a doctor who specializes in PCOS because we’re a weird breed. Clomid will induce ovulation if you find the right dose but if I remember you can’t take more than 6 rounds in a row without needing to take a break. If you’re weight is an issue then a treatment like metformin could also benefit you greatly.

Myo-inositol has been my best friend for PCOS. I was regulated with my period at 28 days at month 3 and so on and got pregnant at 7 months after starting.

I was diagnosed with PCOS…I tried for my 3rd child for a whole year before they put me in Metformin. I started the metformin in June and by September I was pregnant. I would talk to your doctor about metformin…Best of luck to you

Metformin. Low.carb diet…

Just stop trying, for #3, so hard. Let your body do what it wants to do. Who knows…perhaps your body will tell you … 2 is enough.

I was on birth control pills for about 10 years. I have had surgery and one fallopian tube now and could not get a regular period!:woman_facepalming:
I was prescribed prometrium and that seemed to do the trick for us. Currently trying for baby #2 and it’s been 6 months and I am just now starting to ovulate regularly again. I send all the prayers and hugs because I know the struggle!! Have you seen a fertility specialist?

I believe you need to talk to your obgyn as she or he would know your medical history…but I have to say birth control will put you on a regular cycle it may take a while but once your body gets used to it then you should have regular periods…if your trying to concieve id track ovulation down and pinpoint fertile days and try those days…after your body regulates itself.

Birth control regulated my periods. I know it sounds counterproductive, but if step one is a regular period you may wish to consider it. I had no specific infertility and I went to great specialist in Morgantown. It took about 8 months to get pregnant after that, but considering that we suffered for almost 14 years prior to getting pregnant eight months isn’t that long. :woman_shrugging:

I had this when I was 16. I was put on birth control to regulate my periods and reduce the amount of pain I used to have when my period came usually 40-55 days apart. Flash forward to now, I’ve been off birth control for 5 years now and my periods are still regulated. My suggestion, download a period tracking app. I tracked my period for years and was able to conceive using the ovulation dates it poplulated. I was shocked as my doctor told me I would have troubles. Also, the more you stress about it, the harder it will be to conceive. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself! :hugs:

Are you a little overweight? Possibly drop 10lbs and see if that helps. I know when I was severely obese I exercised like crazy, ate healthy and dropped 85lbs. It was like a light switch. Periods were normal and had 2 beautiful boys 14 months apart

Try to drink green tea, two hrs. after eating.

I got pregnant on the pill they used it to regulate mine. They also did a D&C to “clean up” I had a lot of thicken lining as it was shedding the way it should. 2 months after the D&C I was pregnant on the pill I literally missed 1 damn pill lol

You could try going on birth control pills for a few months. Some women have good luck getting pregnant shortly after taking the pill.

Do Keto or if you are overweight, lose weight and if you smoke, stop smoking that will help. My 26 yr old daughters doctor just told her to fast for 21 days. No eating after midnight and that should help her ovulate. I’m 44 with a 6 month old baby that I had on birth control and it was because I did keto for a year and lost 55 pounds :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have PCOS. You need to see a reproductive endocrinologist. I’ve gotten pregnant 3 times now from femara. I have heard women with PCOS typically respond better to femara than they do clomid!

Track you’re ovulation with an ovulation strips for two months from everyday. You can ovulate with out a period you just have to figure out when its happening and have sex. Have surgery to remove the cysts off your ovaries. Figure out if there is anything going on with you’re uterus. Get down to you’re healthy weight eat healthy.

It sounds like PCOS. Many people have good results with Metformin. I agree with a previous post short term oral contraceptives would help regulate you.

Think you are fortunate to have had 2 children so far, but, then, that’s just me! I would advise seeing a gyn who speciallizes in infertility problems and see what he or she advises after reviewing your records and examining you!

Same here my doc put me on progesterone it’s only $23 without insurance. It regulates your period and gets your uterus ready to conceive.
