2 is too young to push it. If heā€™s not interested wait a year or two. Yes some can learn letters at 2 but thatā€™s not the norm at all. Just read to him often, donā€™t put pressure on it

Just read to him and play

Alphabet Sounds from Sounds Like Fun CD- Barbara Milne on YouTube!

You wanna start with the sound first then the letteršŸ˜Š

If you want to add in sign language asl letter sound song that Jack Hartmann does is amazing as well!! Heā€™s on YouTube :slightly_smiling_face:

Taking objects that start with the letter you want to teach and saying for example

:apple: a a apple

:teddy_bear: b b bear

As an elementary teacherā€¦read and play. Expose him but please please do not push. Heā€™s 2 and has so many other things to learn, like taking turns, playing with friends, etc. 1. If he comes to school with all his letters but pushes kids because he doesnā€™t want to take turns, those letters are not going to do him much good. 2. Schools do their damndest to kill the love of reading with the ridiculous way they are forced to teach now, please let him have somewhere and someone it is always fun to read with.

Play abcs in the background during play time

he is 2~~ I know numerous 3-4 year old children that are still trying to grasp letters. Teach him one letter a week. By the end of the year, seeing as there are 52 weeks, he should grasp a few of them. Teach him the letters of his name ā€¦. If his name is Mark, teach him M.

Donā€™t focus on teaching. Read to him and play with him. Kids learn better through play and interaction.

Get a magnetic board with letters.

Heā€™s too young. Sounds are taught before letters

Prepared for what? Heā€™s 2!

Read somewhere that if youā€™re kiddo doesnā€™t pick up numbers or letters before Pre K, itā€™s okay.
Before a certain age, they arenā€™t really understanding them but memorizing them instead.
Honestly, colors and shapes. My kiddo was pointing out ā€˜light blue, dark green, turquoiseā€™ around 2.5yrs. And shapes he picked up super well.
Every kid is different, find your kids strong points and nurture them. Theyā€™ll learn the rest when school time comes.

Way to young . Let him enjoy his childhood

He is 2ā€¦ Playā€¦ read booksā€¦ countā€¦ Si Ng songsā€¦

I used flash cards for my granddaughter. Along with fly swatters. :fly: I spead all of the letters out and would take turns hitting whatever letter that I called out!

Go on YouTube and type in jolly phonics. Each letter has a hand sign to help remember the letter and sounds. This is what we start with in kindergarten

Read Dr Seuss books. Hop on pop itā€™s the rhyming of words and colorful simple picture books.

Let him be 2. What the heck does a 2 year old care about letters

Heā€™s 2- work on large and small motor skills. Go for a walk bring a bucket and pick up things. Talk about what they are. Let him use a paint brush in the bath tub will bath paint. Most kids arenā€™t ready for letters and sounds at that age. Try basic shapes, a heart, a circle, a square. Read to him and make it fun and excitingā€¦ us voices and expressions

12 month too early really.
