How did you help your newborn with colic?

What did you all use for your newborns for colic? Did the doctor say nothing really works… any remedies that worked for you all?

Peppermint stick candy.

Doctors said my baby has colic too. :sob:

Gripe water helped for us, just be cautious using it the first few times, don’t pump the baby full of it or they’ll just spit it all up

Gripe water, laying on my chest in a warm bath (I always laid a warm towel over her as well) and her vibrating Minnie mouse seat!

Gripe water helps and holding them like a football. Head in hand and butt to your elbow on their tummy. Lightly bounce

My 5 year old girl had colic terribly, nothing really ever seemed to help her, medicine included, but holding her like this helped a lot! I would hold her like this and walk around the house and it always seemed to calm her some! I just had my boy in june and he is not bad for gas, but when he has been fussy this position has helped him as well!
Prayers for you and baby :blue_heart:

Years ago my daughter had colic, this old woman from Jaimaca made a tea using 1tsp of fennel seeds with half cup water had me give her 1oz of it, it worked for her releasing the built up gas

I used Mylicon drops and Tylenol. Only way I could get him comfortable to sleep.

Probiotic drops and gripe water.

I used everything! Nothing really worked. I just had to have patience and walked around holding him while he screamed for hours.

My daughter had hprrible colic would cry 5 hours at a time we switched from milk based formula to soy based when i couldnt breast feed…problem solved…hope this helps!

Burping, tummy time, and gripe water.

We used a probiotic in their bottles every day. 5 drops once a day. If you’re breastfeeding, you can give the baby the probiotic straight also. It helped so much with my son, so when my daughter was born and started having similar issues, we went ahead and put her on it too. We tried gripe water, and it helped a little with my son, but my daughter projectile vomited within 5 minutes of giving it to her.

My youngest was really bad. We tried every formula and then switched to Walmart’s brand for colic it helped BIG time!!!

Hang in there mama it will go away I promise! Don’t be afraid to just put your babes down and take a breather to just relax for a moment when it gets bad and if you have the option for help please 100% reach out and get a break when you can!!!

This seems like it’ll last forever but, I assure you, it will become easier!!!

If you are breastfeeding you could try an elimination diet to see if it’s something you are eating/in their milk.

Put a peppermint in warm water let it dissolve. It really helped. Gripe water is helpful too. Gas relief drops are good if you can feel a tense belly. Sometimes you need to lay them down and walk away for 5 minutes because the more upset you are the more upset the baby will be. Can try a vibrating toy too my daughter would not sleep without the vibration

I was breastfeeding then stopped and went to milk based formula seemed to make it worse. So now she’s on soy formula and I switched bottles and it seems to have done the trick. She’s on hour 2 of napping when 3 days ago afternoon naps weren’t a thing (she’s 6 weeks old).
Soy based formula and dr browns bottles (I was using tommee tippee)

Baby wearing Lying them on there tummy sleep upright in a baby swing both my girls had it
Its hard work get some help so you can have a wee break from holding them al day

Nothing really helped my oldest. Just got thru it.

Boil onion strain put in karo syrup in bottle shake well.It will make baby sleepy.

Bicycle legs and anything that compresses the belly. Lots of laying over my shoulder or lap. I’d hold him a little tighter, give him belly rubs, just anything to break the gas up. As well as mylicon and gripe water.

Swaddle tightly, bouncing motions, and white noise. I spent a lot of hours in the bathroom with the vent fan on, bouncing a baby.

My mom helped me w my 1st. Caro syrup in the bottle! Trust me!!!

Nothing worked for my son and we tried everything. It’s just something you have to wait out, as horrible as that seems, it’s really the only thing you can do.

A trip to the chiropractor helped my daughter a lot! Even on just breast milk she got the worst colic. If you decide to do this, please make sure you find a chiropractor that specializes in newborn care. Many aren’t used to babies and it will show.

My Dr told me to run water or get a nature tape because the sound of water soothes them thought they were crazy but it worked

Reutrina probiotic drops. Absolutely the best!

Or a colic and formula switch to Enfamil gentlease

The only thing that seemed to work for my daughter was holding her close to my chest and bouncing on the yoga ball while sitting. Good workout too!

Dr browns bottles, gas drops and Nutramigen hypoallergenic formula she was a whole new baby instantly

Boil an onion and a teaspoon of the juice, it obviously doesn’t taste nice but worked wonders for my son👌

I made a bottle of Camamile flowers. Used a strainer and poured boiling water over the flowers. Let it sit for awhile and then and then cooled the bottle under cool water. It really did work.!!!

My dr said probiotics drops . I ended up not doing it but got her on a routine in the evening she loves her bath every night and bed a little after and she is good. My second baby took gripe water it helped with him.

We took ours to the chiropractor… Yes they adjust newborns… He was a content baby after…life changing

Chiropractor and mylicon drops

When my first son had colic 30 years ago his great aunt turned her washer on and stripped him down to soak him in a warm sink until the washer started the spin cycle then she laid a towel over the washer and laid him on his belly with his head in her hand by the time the spin cycle was over he pooped everywhere and the colic was gone. He had colic for 3 weeks and she cured him in less than an hour

Gripe water, chiropractor and check for allergies!

I’ve heard running the vacuum works 🤷

Just warm up a baby blanket and wrap it around the belly

Definitely chiropractor!

Gripe water and swaddled tight in blanket helped me with my little one

Infacol, vibrating bouncer chair, walks, car rides, constant trying to burp, in the end I changed my daughters bottles and since then I’ve had baby number 2 and 3 with no colic issues :relieved:

Burping baby often while feeding. Used nursery water

Burp and burp and burp as much as you can. Helping with the gas is what helped us the most.

All my kids have had colic/reflux. My last child the dr could smell the acid on her breath. Nexium was a godsend. She would constantly scream and never sleep until she went on it.

Mine didn’t have colic but someone told me that if you put socks on their feet and a sleeper over the socks it worked. Someone told her about it years and years ago when hers had it so she gave it a try and said it worked. Worth a shot I guess

Probiotics for gut and gripe water. Lots of chest to chest while bumping them up and down. Also, ask for help so to have a break. The crying can make you so sad and crazy. :muscle:

Malicon drops worked for us. Keeping his/her belly nice and warm. Some people swear by gripe water. Burping more often if possible can help.

We thought my son had colic until he was diagnosed with GERD at 4 months old and put on nexium by a GI specialist.

We thought ours had colic but it was sever acid reflux

Finding the right bottle helps if you are bottle feeding. If you are breast feeding burp more often and also check what you are eating.

Check out the website the Period of Purple Crying. Lots of good info on colic. I was referred to this site by my pediatrician

They have gas drops, it should help

I used gripe water my son just screamed all the time.

We used gripe water. A swing. Movement seemed to help the most

Gripe water and switching to MAM bottles.

My ped said colic is just a symptom of something else like reflux or really anything

I’d put my son in a baby bath on top of the dishwasher or clothes dryer with low lights to soothe him.

Have a drink, it gets better…
