How do I adjust to working nights?

I recently started working nights part time and I’m having a hard time adjusting to it. Sometimes my shifts are short and around 4 hours but once a week I do an 11 hour shift 8pm-7am. That’s the one that kills me. How do I adjust to this lifestyle change? Do I change my whole sleep routine even though it’s only part time? I’m not sure if I just stay up the night before my long work shift and sleep during the day before my shift. I just don’t know how to navigate it especially with my toddler home the first half of the day until he goes to school.

OK I work 3rd shift but I don’t have kids so I get out 7am so I stay up in morning do what I have to do then in afternoon I take a nap and wake up like 2 hours before I have to go to work

Have a nap in the afternoon before you work the night then sleep till afternoon. When u done your night x

I worked nights for close to 12 years, it’s a love, hate shift :laughing:… I have been off the shift for about 5 years, I’m still up in the middle of the night :laughing:… my husband worked it for a quite few years also… we did opposite shifts while our kids were young so we didn’t need a sitter… some days I miss it, sometimes I dont… try to keep the same sleep schedule when off work
