Anyone know how to get rid of fleas in a house? We are having hugre issues from a dog that came to visit and now I cannot get rid of them.
The best home remedy I’ve found and works wonders, is…get a white bowl and fill it with water and a splash of Dawn. Place it in the middle of where you’re most infested. Under a light is better, but not necessarily mandatory. They’re attracted to the white, and the Dawn kills them instantly. Vacuum religiously in the most infested areas also! Worked for me! Good luck.
yrs ago I took my dog out to the woods gor some running and playing. she found sand… then fleas came with! we laid out flea traps, washed her up well outside, then left for 2 days and stayed with family. flea dipping worked on her great! the traps did not work at all and the house we came back to was COVERED with them!
you literally could see them jumping!! my floor looked black just from them thats how thick it was and my carpet was tan… it was one of the most WILD things to see! we figured with nobody there and setting the traps all around we could get a good edge over them… but that didn’t happen.
when we went to tractor supply for clues, ideas and what to do next they said they couldn’t believe it too! we video recorded it and they had us send to their email for learning purposes with the then vet that would do some work there. the vet explained no food source they ran rampant in breeding/egg laying for survival (as everyone left) is the only thing they could think of.
so, we got the flea 's and washed everything in this stuff they suggested and I was a vacuuming fool for weeks! I had it going on average 4x a day … get the bombs if you can use them and vacuum everything…
avoid sand hills with your pets
Pick up a bag of Sevin dust. You can get it at Lowe’s, Home Depot or Walmart in the garden center. Sprinkle it all over your carpet, allow it to sit for a while then vacuum it up. It is safe to use around pets. That’s how I got rid of fleas in my home.
Sprinkle salt on carpet and vacuum up, wash and dry clothes towels and bedding on high heat.
Do you have pets? Because without pets, it’s relatively easy to get rid of them. If you have pets, it’s critical to treat them and the environment. Use a veterinarian approved tick & flea treatment. As long as your pet is a host and provides a blood meal, a flea will lay up to 80 eggs per day. The eggs are not sticky so roll off the pet into the carpet, furniture, into pet bedding and under floor trim. You will need to remove all people and pets, use an approved fogger with a growth inhibitor to dehydrate the eggs. The other option is a professional pest company. Wash blankets, bedding and other cloth items and dry on high heat. If they can’t be washed but can tolerate high heat in the dryer, toss them in for 15 minutes.
It’s incredibly important that you treat all pets as directed for 90 days to break the cycle. It’s best to treat year around to prevent infestations.
