Referral from peds. Then call immediately it’s a very long emotional draining process.

I just told our doctor that i had a feeling from doing some research and seeing a few signs and she gave me all the info I needed

i got a referral from their pediatrician for a specialist. 18 months & a lot of tests & evaluations later, diagnosed.

Ask doctor for a referral to whatever specialist is in your area for testing

Ask your pediatrician for referral to specialist or children’s hospital… :tulip::cherry_blossom::tulip:

An evaluation by a pediatric neurophysiologist.
Check to see if you have a Regional Center in your area.

You’re gonna need a referral to a developmental doctor or a neuropsychologist, we got my daughter evaluated by a neuropsychologist bc they take more time with your child and do a more thorough investigation

We got a referral to a neuropsychologist from our son’s pediatrician

Referral from my doctor to a child psychologist

Unless they’re smearing poop on the walls, it’s difficult to diagnose before aged five. You can get a referral from your Dr if you think there are clear signs. You don’t need a diagnosis to support your child - look for Autism/ASD support groups locally or on FB. And stay away from Autism Speaks or anyone who talks about curing it.

No. Referral to a person trained in knowing. I knew since about 6 months so we did therapy but waited till she was about 3.5 to officially go to get tested. It was quick

We didn’t. We waited untill he was 6 and got him on the waiting list. Then right before he turned 7 he was tested. We waited untill the “toddler” stage was over. His drs told us from birth he was going to be autistic. He would be classified with aspergers if they still used that term.

Psychologist, neurologist or developmental pediatrician. I’ve found in my area to have a faster time getting in with a psychologist. Get on the waitlist (because there will be waitlists…) at several places and ask to be put on their cancellation list to be seen sooner.

I talked to my kids pediatrician explained I had concerns regarding developmental delays then we got a referral to a child psychologist and local regional center. Two kids with autism here

Pediatric neurologist is where I started. No help from pediatrician who didn’t believe there was anything wrong. Contact early intervention program in your state for an evaluation as well. There are free programs for children with delays. Contact your school district as well if your child is at least 3 years old. They are responsible for early education if your child is diagnosed with autism. Early intervention is key to helping your child. Good luck
