How do you keep your bathroom clean if you have sons?

Moms with little boys, how are we keeping our bathrooms from smelling like pee?? I’ve tried mopping with bleach, vinegar, and normal mop solution and I swear it all still smells.

Sprinkle baking soda and let it sit for a few hours maybe? We don’t have much of an issue with just vinegar :woman_shrugging:

Try a steam cleaner. Is there caulk around the bottom of your toilet? If not, urine will get under there & you won’t get it with regular mopping. Make sure you’re cleaning the outside of the toilet good. I think it’s Clorox that makes a urine destroying cleaner. If you can ever get all the urine out of there, caulk the bottom of the toilet (if it’s not) to prevent urine going under there. Also, Amazon sells these u-shaped “pee pads” to go on the floor around the toilet. They have sticky tabs to keep them in place.

Bowl of Cheerios on back of toilet- toss 1 in and they have target practice. 3 boyz and no issue

I teach my boys to clean up their dribbles, and frequent cleaning around the toilet cuts down on the lingering smell. But for the stuck smell you might try one of those urine enzyme cleaners.

For one, I suggest having them sit down if they can’t aim properly. That said, a vinegar and water mix works well.

Shaving cream, apply to the floor around the toilet, let it sit a few minutes clean up with a rag and water…. No more smell

I have a container of Lysol wipes on the back of the toilet. He wipes the floor and seat after each pee lol he has been doing this forever …he is currently 13 and really doesn’t make a mess anymore but is in the habit and I refuse to change it :rofl:

Make them clean up their dribbles. The problem with floors is that it won’t matter how many times you clean it if the pee got under the flooring you’ll need to pull it up or the smell isn’t going to go away. Remember to clean really well near the bottom of the toilet bowl on the ground cause it will go under there.

I don’t know I have 2 boys and my bathroom has never once smelled like urine. Wtf are these kids doing :woman_facepalming::woman_shrugging:

Teach them to sit down on the toilet. Or install a urinal.

Try using some peroxide. It is used on organic issues such as blood urine streaks in underwear

peroxide. Clean the floor with it first. Then u can use whatever floor cleaner with a scent. Kills the ammonia in the pee. If you don’t like that, there’s this stuff called my pet peed on Amazon. Works for any pee. Trust me. Former housecleaner for 6yrs of residential & Air B & Bs.
