I didn’t leave My husband left me due to a long illness we were Married for 50 years

Consult a lawyer (consult should be free or lower cost) if you’re married.
Are you or could you be gainfully employed? Could you support yourself on your own income? If you’re not married, what are your state’s rules on common-law marriage? Would you get half your spouse’s assets? Do you have children?
Contact a Women’s Center for advice. You will need to make a detailed plan and save money to be able to leave. Are you afraid of anger, violence or retaliation or is it a question of you’re just tired of each other. It’s important to ensure your safety. Is there a women’s or homeless shelter you could go to if you’re in danger?
Calling 988, the mental health hotline could help you identify signs of abuse and strategies to leave.
Have a solid plan before saying a word. Save money. Make choices that make you happy.
Start the process of either government help or finding work and child care and saving all you can so you can dip.
