How do you manage your bi polar depression?

Do any of my fellow mom’s have BPD? How do you manage without medication? Or is it even manageable without it?

With meds, counseling, and a good support group.

I’ve been on medications for almost 20 years, and the two times I tried to go off them were a nightmare. I also have trauma-related ptsd. I’m pretty sure I’ll be on meds for the rest of my life, but the alternative is much worse.

I was off meds for roughly 4 years, honestly no idea how I did it. I was in survival mode.
Postpartum with my 3rd (he’s 4 months) hit hard and I’ve been an absolute mess combined with my bipolar. I started seeing my psychiatrist and I’m back on meds.
I would not try to manage without meds bc it can hit a scary point and be extremely hard to stabilize from being untreated so long.

I have been on medication for bipolar 1 for 5 years best thing I ever did it honestly helps me cope so much

I have not had medication since i was a teen so 20 years ago. I was by far worse when i was younger. Keeping my life calm meaning friends family life style anything remove drama and any triggers. It’s doable but not for everyone. having lots of support in life therapist family. also even hobbies for when it’s getting to much can help a lot. knowing there is always tomorrow to do something that seems impossible today.

For me, I have to be medicated. But I’ve also been working with a really good therapist 3 1/2 years.

I’ve found even on days I absolutely dont want too, if I force myself out of bed - Bad days its usually just moving my pillow and blanket to the couch & watching TV in there. It seems to help me at least.

I don’t think bipolar without proper medication and counseling is healthy. I’m currently BP2 not taking medication because during COVID counselling was suspended and medication was switched 5 times. I could not afford to be off work any longer for medication to kick in and work. Evening alcohol is an escape, that I would not recommend and provides it’s own issues. Once off medication, I found it’s hard to get back to it, even though I understand it is necessary… Small insight into choosing no medication- I would not recommend and wish I could go back to my medicated normalcy

My understanding is you can’t manage bipolar without medication, even if you think you can. Please consult medical professionals and follow their recommendations.

I smoke marijuana. I dont like how meds make me feel drowsy and just out of it sometimes just so I can feel calm. I still have some bad days but they are mostly manageable. I also drink tea and try natural vitamins and plants as well. Try and avoid triggers that can or will make you spiral or manic… alone time and breathing are important… the journey is different for everyone. What works for some may not work for you… you got this tho. Keep your head up above the water! No one ever tells you how hard it can be to achieve happiness when your brain doesnt help you out at all

I physically can’t manage without medication. I take abilify and topamax.

It’s really hard. I manage without meds but my family hates me so it is what it is

I’m on medication for mine and I honestly wouldn’t cope without it, i did try and come off my meds when I had my baby but it was no good I need them and will probably need them for the rest of my life
