How do you treat isomnia while pregnant?

Dont know if itll work for anyone else but from Avon I got the lavender room spray. It was 8 years ago so dont know if they still don’t but it totally helpef

Melatonin in lower dosages tends to help. Also Benadryl is safe as well as unisom according to some drs. I’d call the triage nurse your drs office may have they’ll tell you exactly what tends to be on the safer side. I’ve had to call mine numerous times this pregnancy for colds to not being able to sleep to not being able take a medicine or supplement they wanted me to and she helped find alternatives. Good luck and hopefully you’ll be able to get a better nights sleep here soon.

Melatonin is natural and safe.

My OB said to use Benadryl

Melatonin or marijuana

I used Benedryl during my pregnancies when absolutely necessary to tackle my insomnia. It wasn’t every night, but sure did help.

Benadryl my Dr told me it’s safe

My specialist told me to take Valarian root. It was one of the few things that was tested during pregnancy and was found safe to use. He told me I could buy it from most stores and to take up to 2 tabs a night. Its also nice because it wont give you a left over exhausted feeling the next day.

Melatonin or sleepy time tea

For everyone saying melatonin that hasn’t been proven safe to take while pregnant!! I was advised against it and told unisom is the safest choice

Unisom is definitely safe during pregnancy! It was even on a list of medications approved to take otc for nausea by my OB. Benadryl was recommended for me for multiple ailments while I was pregnant. Migraines, insomnia, nausea and allergies because all it does really is make you sleepy.

Meditation has helped my insomnia immensely. Don’t take otc meds or RX while pregnant

Lavender is very relaxing , you can diffuse it, heat the oil , have a live plant or even dried flowers, you can even get a lavender infused pillow!

Ask your dr about herbal valerian tablets x from a proper herbalist x il not recommending as I really don’t know if you’re allowed but worth an ask x

50mg of Benadryl. Can use Unisom instead. I had horrible nightmares when i used melatonin and took benadryl at same time. I also have used prescription Vistaril (souped up benadryl) as prescribed by my dr. If all else fails, doctors can prescribe pregnancy safe medications for sleep (that are actually anti-depressant classification)

U shudnt ask cuz trolls are every where lurking just to say mean things to u ! People suck !

Why is saying go to the doctor rude? IMHO people ask way too many medical based questions on here. There’s just some things even an amazing mom group shouldn’t touch.

Not sure how you feel about oils. But my 4 year old has sleeping issues and when we used the lavender peace from doTerra in the diffuser. It was great. She actually fell asleep quickly and didn’t wake as much. The best part was NO medication. Feel free to pm me and I can get some more information in regards to sleep and oils.

Try melatonin its natural and 3mg won’t hurt baby. Or lavendar essential oils as well as a lavendar epsom salt to soak in before bed. Good luck.

My doctor told me to use Benadryl and if that didn’t work Tylenol PM. I used it once in a while, but usually suffered with sleeplessness and napped when I could.

I have always Unisom(doxylamine) but not the one with diphenhydramine bc it doesn’t make me sleepy. Doxylamine is one of the ingredients they use in the morning sickness pill Diclegis so I knew it was okay to continue taking after becoming pregnant.

Chamomile tea , take a bath add some epsom salt that is suppose to relax your muscles

Your best way to get tired is to go for a walk and spend some time in the fresh air.Plus don’t drink Pepsi!

You can take unisom and Benadryl safely. You can also try lavender scented essential oils (suppose to be relaxing) like on your wrists and pillow. You can try mediation (i use the calm app). Dont take anything without talking to your OB, but I do 100% know unisom and Benadryl are safe, I am a MA and worked with a doc who delivered babies :two_hearts:. Good luck mama

I’m 10 weeks pregnant with my second and my doctor said the 5mg of melatonin I was taking before I got pregnant was fine to continue taking.

My doctor literally told me to find something to do besides lay there. My house was spotless when I was pregnant :joy:

Unisom. It also helps with nausea. I also have insomnia and it was a lifesaver when I was pregnant

Calm powder drinks before bed every night

I took ambien my entire pregnancy due to severe insomnia. I could stay up for DAYS with out taking ambien, to the point of hallucinating. So for me, the benefits outweighed the possible risks. Had a perfectly healthy daughter.

I’ve had horrible insomnia all my life butbaince getting pregnant it’s been the worst since I was in high school. I’m 17 weeks and struggling with it. I get maybe 4 hours a night… tops. I use a night time sleep aid with the active ingredient doxylamine. It helps a little. Otherwise I turn on a boring show, prop myself up so ik comfortable, and just try to doze off. Nights where i dont sleep at all i take a nap during the day. It catches up to you eventually. Definitely talk to your doctor because sleep is important.
