Leanne can you offer some advice here?
This is a very broad question, but I’m happy to help in any way I can!
Breastfeeding can be very intimidating, but it’s AMAZING and has life long benefits for both you and your child (including reducing moms risk for breast cancer and postpartum depression). Each time your baby latches, your milk will change to specifically meet your baby’s needs. Breastfeeding sets your baby up for his/her best chance for the healthiest immune system they can have. Your body will constantly be feeding your baby antibodies that they couldn’t get from formula. Illnesses that your body can easily fight off, but could be hard for a new baby, you could pass on those antibodies! Breastmilk is a living a constantly changing thing!
I highly recommend following some IBCLC pages! These are my favorites:
The Breastmilk Queen - Amy McGlade
Lucy Webber Breastfeeding IBCLC
The Leaky Boob
Maybe watch some YouTube breast feeding guides and see how you feel?? You don’t have to do it if it doesn’t feel right but there are lots of benefits. Helps your body recover, protects baby from illness, it’s cheaper and quicker than preparing a bottle, less waste and hassle, …but bottle fed babies do just fine too!! I’m gonna try to breast feed my little one, but not put too much pressure on myself. Good luck with your pregnancy and whatever you decide. It’ll be ok. Xxxxxx
Everyone is different one person’s experience is not going to be same as the next some things work for some and and doesn’t work for others.
While breastfeeding it is good for babys don’t let people bully you into thinking that it’s the only option or that your a failure if you don’t breastfeed
Breast is not best fed is best.
Some women breastfeed with easy some need help and others can’t breastfeed at all.
But once you start having midwife appointments ask about breastfeeding courses and lactation specialist for help and guidance.
