How long does it take for whooping cough to go away?

Anyone’s 2 year old test positive for whooping cough before? How long did it take to go away? Anything that helps them? I’m also due in like 3 weeks with my third baby so I’m hoping the whole house is clear of it before he gets here.

I had whooping cough as a child. It’s a six week incubation from school so it’s going to be around for a while. Have you been immunised against it? It can be fatal for a newborn.

Give the toddler plenty of drinks and ice lollies to soothe her throat

I had whooping cough when I was 15 and I literally coughed an ENTIRE summer!!!

I had whopping cough as a adult and was I’ll for at least 2 weeks cough took 5 +weeks to go away I was told can take up to 10 weeks to go away . It’s absolutely horrid. Hope little one feels better soon x

I had whopping cough and it took about 3 months.

My daughter had it when she was around 3 to 4 months old and it was terrible. She would cough so bad and choke on mucus that I had to use the nose suction thing to help her breathe better when she would cough in her car seat I would have to turn around and get her out of her car seat and hold her while my husband drove down the road finally every dr we saw brushed it off til we went to the children’s hospital and they saw her cough and it took her a minute and a half to get her breathing back to normal

Both of my children had it young they both coughed for 5 months.

The lingering cough can last weeksssss!!! You can become clear of it and still have the cough for a long time.

What did the pediatrician say?

When I was young like 65 years ago my mother used to make onion syrup when we had this… It always worked

What does the doctor say?

Your best option is to talk to your child’s pediatrician and your OB.

Have you spoken with your doctor and his pediatrician?!?

Whooping cough is HIGHLY contagious. It is airborne. The Chinese call it the 100 day cough.

You must discuss the situation with your doctor immediately. Whooping cough is serious. It can crack ribs. By age 2, he should’ve been vaccinated. Be sure to mention his vaccination status as well as yours (did you get a booster as an adult?) when you talk to your doc.
