How many pairs of shoes do you buy for the school year?

How many pairs of shoes do you buy for the school year??I always just buy a pair of tennis shoes as needed (usually every 3 months as they get worn down fast) & a pair of boots/sandals depending on the season. I keep seeing these Tik toks of back to school shopping and they buy their kids like 5 pairs of shoes just for the beginning of the school year so I’m curious what do y’all do

Maybe 2 pairs outdoor and indoor and if they need new shoes through the year I’ll buy them then but not at beginning of year

Just one pair because she will either grow out of or worn them out and I’ll have to replace them.

One pair of gym shoes and then a dress shoe. Last year my daughter got two pairs of dress shoes only because the flats were only $9 at Walmart.

So they need 2 pairs, one for indoor and onf for out, I don’t buy cheap so that way they last all year

One pair of school shoes and one pair of gym shoes. Buy as needed through out the year.

At least two pairs of tennis shoes to start the year, a pair of Crocs or sandals and boots closer to cool weather.

My daughter wears uniforms and needs all white tennies and black Mary janess so she starts out with 2 pairs of shoes and she Will eventually grow out of and need New ones by the middle of the school year.

Mine gets flipflops in the summer, and about $100 Nikes for back to school and again at Christmas. She lucked out with some really awesome deals this year and got a new pair of crocs and 2 pair of Nikes for $150. For back to school, she has a budget and it’s up to her to find the deals.

Whatever we can afford and whenever necessary. I try for a pair of tennis shoes each and whatever else they’ve grown out of. Like, my girls each needed some casual flat shoes so they also got hey dudes.
We buy boots in September or October for fall and Winter. Then usually new tennis shoes at Christmas. Dress shoes as needed.
2 girls and 2 boys here.

One pair of tennis shoes and a pair of hey dudes… My son already has boots. He is in 10th grade

I buy shoes to match my daughter’s clothes, she has 10 pairs of shoes for the school year. We are a shoe family though, we love shoes!

(That includes crocs & 2 pairs of sandals)

We buy them one nice pair of shoes of their choice at the beginning of the school year. Usually paid for by a grandparent. They’ll get another pair at Christmas and then another at the beginning of summer. We don’t have the means to buy them more often

I just buy as needed or when I find the best sales. Back to school this year had amazing sales and my kids went up a size in everything so they needed them. They have six shoes to start and when it gets cold I’ll add some boots or leather high tops

For the new school year, I get two pairs of shoes, in case one needs to be cleaned or can’t find in the morning ugh. For my older, I also get a pair for gym class. Dress shoes, sandles, crocs etc I get as needed throughout the year. Some people might stock up because of all the back to school sales going on.

It would take my whole paycheck if I bought 3 kids 5 pairs a piece of new shoes. That’s preposterous. I mean if I could afford it I still probably wouldn’t buy them that many. Lol. But maybe 2-3 depending on price and type.

Every year is just a little different.
But generally…
I go through their clothes.
I get rid of anything too small or that has holes/stains.
Then I fill in the gaps.
As prices for everything keep going up
This has started to include shoes.
I replace things as needed.
As of right now they don’t need shoes for school…Their shoes still have another couple months of life.
Although my oldest may need some gym specific shoes idk yet

The exception to this is that I also let them pick out 3 or 4 things they want
So my youngest is begging me for Crocs…so I’m going to buy him some.

Sneakers and boots when winter hits.
I buy a few t shirts and pants. As for school supplies I even hold off on those. Lots go on clearance after school starts.

1 pair of sneakers and one pair dress shies if they want them , they just got new crocs and then when it gets cold they get boots

We buy 3 ( a pair of in doors n then a pair of out doors cuz they have recked theirs durin summer and winter is still a bit away and rubber boots cuz usually raining a lot in September)

Definitely not 5 pairs lol

That the start of school: new tennis for PE. & 2 pair for school a sandle & shoe of choice. When the weather turns cold all leather tennis & a boot of their choice. When the weather turns again a sandle & shoe of choice. If their feet grown during the year more…

An old mom & nurse here…. If you only have 1 pair of tennis shoes, those could get really stinky, dirty & potentially germy. Kids feet sweat! Do the best you can

I didn’t buy shoes for school this year. Both of my girls recently got new shoes so they’re all set.

I wouldn’t put my kid in tennis shoes because they don’t really support your feet. It’s sensible to have two pairs because they will actually last longer so you might only need two pairs for the whole year. You should get feet checked every three months.

We always buy a new pair of outdoor shoes (something of kids choosing- they are older now) but it’s usually a pair of runners…then a pair of indoor runners. To be honest- if your buying cheap shoes & having to replace them every couple months- why not spend a bit of money and buy a decent quality shoe maybe a 1/2-1 size bigger- in the end you’ve probably spent that because you’ve had to buy numerous pairs of shoes because they’ve got warn out. Before people come at me…I budget and plan accordingly, school is the same time every year. You can get decent shoes on sale! I hit the sales every year

I try to buy two pair of tennis shoes that way we have a back up! I have a girl so she also has sandals and boots for winter. They grow so fast I don’t spend a crazy amount and look for sales! My mom is a blessing helping out with back to school stuff that is needed!

My daughter got 2 pairs of black dress shoes, and 2 pairs of tennis shoes. 1 pair of each is the size she needs now and 1 pair of each is the next size up.

I usually get 2 pairs to start the year. Then a pair at Christmas if needed. Then sandals when warmer weather hits.

My 4 school age kids 1 new pair of sneakers at the beginning of the school year and then they usually get a new pair at Christmas time unless needed earlier .they can only wear sneakers at school anyways and they have their at home :athletic_shoe:

My daughter usually just likes to wear one pair of shoes every day. She owns quite a few but honestly we just go to once upon a child and get them for cheaper. I want her to have options but I’m not breaking the bank for it!

Usually they get 1 new pair of shoes. But this year I was able to afford each to have more. All in different styles though

I usually buy 2-3 pairs for the beginning of school.

My daughter got three tennis shoes dudes and crocs and flats.
My son got two tennis shoes dudes and crocs. Come
Closer to winter they will get boots. We gets ours when they are on sale like a bogo sale

I bought 2 at the beginning of the school year and if they grew out of them I’d buy more

I’m that parent ! I bought my kids 5 pairs each.
& about 10-12 new outfits each.
I have 2 kiddos in school this year. 5 & 6yo.

Usually 2; a pair of sneakers and a pair of crocs or other type of their choice. If I find a good deal sometimes they get an additional pair or two. Then they get more as needed throughout the school year.

I waited until someone had a sale. Then, I’d have 2 or 3 pairs of tennis shoes, even 1 pair a size up in the closet. Boots for winter, maybe a couple pair of dress shoes.
I always bought something a size up to have, along with a few outfits, just in case.

One pair as needed! One pair might last my son a whole year, or it might last 3 months… ain’t no way I would or could buy 5 pair at once!

I do one pair of tennis shoe, a dress shoe or sandal then boots in the fall for the little one. Then my older daughter just gets one bc she’s in a nursing program so she can’t wear anything but tennis shoes, but she gets new ones when she needs/wants them.

I buy my kids new clothes as they need them. They get a couple new outfits for back to school and a new pair of shoes. They already have their favorite clothes they feel comfortable in, so I let them decide. As we move through the year and they grow (which is bound to happen) I buy them things as needed. It doesn’t break the bank when we buy as needed vs dropping 1k at the beginning of the year for them to just grow out of it by December.

I buy about 4. 2 in the beginning gym shoes then boots for winter

2 pairs of tennis shoes (white & black) to match different outfits. We buy new shoes probably 2-3 times a year depending on how fast the kids grow

2 pair one indoor one outdoor
Mines 7 so his feet are growing

3- 1 pair brand new that grandma usually buys and the 2nd pair are 2nd hand but in great condition and then closer to winter I will typically buy a pair of 2nd hand winter boots.

Normally just buy as needed because their feet are still growing. They don’t need different shoes to match different outfits. Just a pair of tennis shoes that fit, a pair of boots, and a pair of sandals

I just bought 3 pair of shoes and 3 diff color sandals. Will buy boots around October and usually replace shoes halfway thru the school year or sooner if they start to look bad.

I buy 2 pairs, one for outdoors and one for indoors
