At the risk of sounding really dumb, how much did your newborn sleep? My first girl was awake several hours a day from the very beginning and woke up every hour to nurse for a year. My 2nd girl is six days old and sleeps 3-4 hours straight at night, and then during the day, she’ll sleep all day unless I wake her every 2-3 hours. Even when I wake her, she doesn’t always want to latch. My pedi and midwife both say that it’s ok to let her sleep because her weight gain and jaundice levels are good, but she’s just so different from her sister that I feel like it’s bad. Is it normal, and my first baby was just more alert?
Both my kids were polar opposites at sleeping. It’s normal.
Completely normal my first would sleep through the night for the most part maybe wake up once to feed at 3 a.m. then she would basically sleep all day.
Um. 18 hours or more. I did wake her through the day so she’d sleep more at night.
my secoud daughter slept way more than my first and still does now at 5 shes the first to fall asleep at night and last to wake up in the morning haha
They are all different, my youngest is 7 weeks now and she sleeps more then either her sister or brother did. She has only started being more alert and playful in the last week or so
My niece slept all the time - so much so my sister brought her to the doctor to ask was it normal! My sister used to just
to have to wake her every 4 hours to feed her !
Yes let her sleep. My sister would sleep for 12 hrs at a time. Doctor told my mom that is ok that she sleeps and she will eat when she is hungry.
All babies are different mine were night and day
Do wake the baby let her sleep! When she is hungry she will eat
Mine always slept for 3-4 hours at first. Then when they got older it became more stretched out.
Mine is almost 2 months old and eats every 3 hours during the day but sleeps 6-7 hours at night
Mine were polar opposites. My first slept through the night starting at 2 weeks old and took 3 2-3 hour naps a day. My second was sent straight from the pits of hell and napped maybe 40 mins total throughout the day then woke up several times at night until recently and he’s now 13 months (and I wouldn’t trade him for anything by the way but he’s a terror🤦♀️)
My kids were incredible sleepers from day 1 and they’re healthy. My oldest is 10 now and my youngest turns 2 in a January. Let your baby sleep. They need sleep for proper brain development. If her weight is good and the pediatrician isn’t concerned than let her sleep and enjoy the quiet time.
My son slept 6 hours at a time overnight, only nursed once overnight too. During the day he would sleep 2 ish at a time, he nursed every 1.5-2 during the day.
Nope normal. Just let her sleep she will wake up when she’s hungry or wet. My daughter was a nightmare for 6weeks after birth and now sleeps more than all her older siblings who were great sleepers as new borns. I didn’t even wake any of them 2-4hour routines. They woke up when they were hungry, wet ect and went back to sleep after being fed changed ect.
My first slept 5 hours at night from the time she came home from the hospital, my 2nd wanted to be fed every 2 hours! Depends on the baby
My first was a sleeper my son is 18 months he isnt a sleeper. My third she is 3 months will.be awake all day and sleep pretty much threw the night…
If your breast feeding you should keep a regular schedule, breast feeding makes them more sleepy as well and remember the baby D drops.
You can’t compare your children non of then are the same i have 3 and beleve me they are so different from each other one never slept one slept the whole day and the last one well just imagine
Let her sleeeeeep!!! This sounds totally normal. Enjoy it. Sleep regression will kick in before you know it!!
Ever since I brought my baby home at the end of July this year, he has slept through the night. at first he was up every 4-5 hours but how at two months old he sleeps from 8 til 7.
My kids were both one week old when they began sleeping 4-5 hours at a time. Yes it’s normal.
I have a 1 month old and she is up for 2-3 hours once during the day and once at night and sleeps between 2-4 hours at a time…
Its totally normal, my first was the same way then 2 and 3 never slept more than an hour at a time
You are looking for 8-10 feeds a day. So count each time she feeds and if its at least 8 times a day you should be okay. Some things can make newborns sleepy; premature birth, moms medications during labor and after. I hope this helps some. Also they change so much so in a few weeks you may notice she begins to feed much more often.
My first would be awake on and off all day and night. My second, wow a different story, if I didn’t feed him and bath him while he was asleep and waited till he was awake he would have never ate or got clean lol. He is 23 now and has always been a great sleeper even now lol
