How much should a toddler talk?

Hoping for reassurance I guess, my child is 18 months old and only says, hi, mama, and dada. I am worrying that he’s behind vocally. Has anyone experienced this? Should I be worried? Is it normal?

My son didn’t start talking till he was 3

I thought the same with my daughter. She was a NICU baby so we could get her evaluated. We did it twice and both times were told she was normal. Us mommas worry too much.

Mine didnt really talk til after he turned 2

I am a nanny. The almost 3 year old(June) that I nanny for only started talking about 8 months ago. He said mama and dada for a while and then just stopped and would only point at things and make noises. One day he woke up talking and it has progressed ever since. Most often children just take everything in and then one day they start putting it out. If you are really concerned, talk to his doctor but I honestly wouldn’t worry about it just yet

My baby is 17mo and she says clearly momma, daddy and yes, she mumbles says alot of other words/phrases that we can kinda understand. Every baby is different
