So my daughter’s hair is wild and I have become defated with trying to figure out how to manage it on my own. I need advice please! It is thin and the texture is a lot like my hair (I’m white as can be), but she gets a lot of curl from her dad (he’s puerto rican). It’s not as long as I would like it to be yet, so pony tails aren’t easy to manage…at least for more than 10 minutes, at which point her wild curls escape from it and she looks half homeless / half hipster. I bought a spray bottle and I wet her hair down to try to help, but that only helps for a few minutes at most. Does anyone have similar hair or have kids with similar hair that can offer me advice please?
Leave in conditioner will help a lot and NEVER brush while dry only when wet… If its matted from sleep just wet again with a spray bottle leave in condtioner on ends and scrunch…
I’m sure there are curly girl instagram accounts for curly care let me se3 if I can find some I have curly hair too its tough but so beautiful!
Leave in conditioner.
& put it up when its wet or you’ve put product in it. If its still to short to hold ponytails just give her a headband & let it curl.
My daughter is mixed & her hair is extremely curly.
Tea tree oil is good too!
Good products for curly hair
Use the leave in conditioner, then pull up one side in a high pony tail, then the other side in a high pony tail, leave the back hair down. Use small colorful rubberbands or hair bands.
My daughter is two and has the same problem. If we are going somewhere nice I put in a ponytail or pigtails but if we are just going to the store or the drs I just let it go free. I let her be a kid. I do keep it unmatted
I use gel to hold all my girls baby hairs in place I also double up on the little rubber bands for better hold.
There is nothing u can do about it leave it ,my hair is the same keep it long and use leave in conditioner yes with coconut oil
My daughter is mixed, only thing that keeps her hair together is gel, because I braid her hair a lot I use the Jamaican Mango & Lime line of twist and lock gel. I also use this little brush, she refers to as a tooth brush but it’s not lol to smooth her hair into ponytails.
Headbands…half piggy tails. Those are easy hair styles for little ones who dont have much hair yet. Use either coconut oil mixed with water in a spray bottle or leave in conditioner mixed with some water in a spray bottle. Dont brush when the hair is dry…it can hurt. Also, after a bath, I would rub the towel over the hair…curly hair knots so much easier. Pat the towel over the hair, run it back from forehead to neck. Then use some of the spray mix you choose and brush and style right away, while its wet.
Curly hair is harder, but oh so pretty. Lol
I use Shea moisture line on my daughter and it works really well. The detangling spray shapes her curls and I use some the styling cream after I wash/condition her hair. I usually just put a bow/clip in the front to keep her hair out of her face and call it a day lol
Her hair sounds beautiful! but you’re really not going to know what you like until you try some things out… you could use leave in conditioner, you can use a hair serum and you can use some type of hair product like gel/mousse.
just keep in mind that if you use gel, hair spray or mousse that when she’s playing and she gets sweaty or slightly wet it could trickle down to her eyes and sting them.
But just play around with her hair mama, eventually you’ll find something you like… and also just let her hair down til its long enough. Curly hair really gets damaged and breaks away unevenly when you put it up in ponies and stuff like that. Good luck sweetheart.
Look up the group Curly Girl Method. My daughter is bi racial black/white and it has helped me a lot!
Conditioner, Conditioner, Conditioner, all day everyday. My kids are of the same and you should see my daughter’s, I have 3 girls and 2 boys. Boys are simple.
Coconut oil every day
I had a biracial daughter so I know what you mean… I used to get that pink oil and put it in her hair with barrettes and bows
I see everyone suggesting coconut oil and conditioner in a bottle.ive tried but when the oil isnt warm clogs the nozzle?anyone have any suggestions for that?
Let her enjoy her hair bet its beautiful 2 of my gkids are cuban (curls forever ) coconut oil and a spray bottle of watered down conditioner it works wonders and some kind of oil to hold it together
Cantu curl defining cream. Use a curl defining shampoo and conditioner, then the plus 10 leave in conditioner, then Cantu cream. Air dry. Use Moroccan or argan oil to tame frizz. Google the CGM (curly girl method) and you can get a ton of tips also!
Lighten up, let her alone, unless it’s really a health issue. Then try a hairstylist?
DevaCurl! Do it! My friend is colored and uses it and told me to try on my curls! I haven’t been able to order though. But I use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum and Paul Mitchell line mousse and hair spray! And use a comb, not a brush
I have what my family calls homeless curls lol and honestly only way I take them is if I wash my hair and pull my hair back while it’s still soaked after it dries I let it down brush it our and the tip part Is slightly straight and my ends curl/wave
Take her to a good beautician
I have Italian hair so its curly and frizzy. I actually do a moose to help control it. Humidity is not my friend
Just keep the curls and use olive oil and put it in a headband
I have wild curly sand so do my girls… leave in conditioners and this moisturizer called Pink. It’s in a pink bottle and it works magic
My son’s hair is that way. He is biracial btw. We use oil in it. It is soft and curly but, manageable.
Leave in conditioner or detangler has worked wonders for my daughters hair. She has mine. Thick and curly. When she was little (she’s 5 now) we would put a barrette or side pony in it to keep it out of her face. Everyone tried to convince me to cut it. But I didn’t and wouldn’t.
It sounds beautiful let it grow use headbands haircombs
Try Curly Girl (& Boy) Method
I use not your mommas hair products and I have thick wavy curls. I start getting mats if I dont brush or detangle every day
