How do you clean you throw up in a car seat? My baby got sick all over and everything is just gross and stinks but I cannot afford another car seat…
Simple Green works wonders & smells good too.
Wipe down with a wet rag, water only. Vacuum out (like a wet dry vac) all pieces. Sunlight will kill germs & kill the smell!
The fabric cover should come off and we wash in the washing machine
You should be able to wash the inserts. My son always got car sick. Washing the fabric with laundry detergent and then the plastic with lysol wipes i never had an issue getting rid of the smell
The car seat cover should come off so that you can throw it in the wash. You may have to take the whole thing out as they are held on by hooks on the bottom and back. At least ours was.
you can take the soft cover off and wash it. disinfect hard parts.
Wash what you can in the washing machine and with vinegar and the rest use just vinegar
The covers come off! Don’t be afraid to toss that thing in the shower or hose it off outside either! Just make sure it dries completely!
Honestly shower or hose to start with, use dish-soap and vinegar!
Then you can remove the cover and wash!
Take it to the self car wash… take it out and spray it down.
Read the manual, mine i can take the cover off and throw it through a gentle cycle in the machine, others are hand wash only. I use wipes to clean the harness and crotch straps, weather permitting i sit it in the sun to eliminate the odors
You can wash the cover in the washer. Hang to dry. But just a little tip: do not wash the straps in the washer. Submerging the straps in water and laundry detergent compromises the integrity of the straps. It could cause them to fail in an accident. Spot clean with a damp washcloth with water only.
U can power wash manually at carwash
*Coin operated car wash and hose it down.
*Take cover off and hand wash initially then machine wash.
I had a kid that had bad reflux and threw up in his seat at least once a week and it went everywhere!! I always washed the cover and straps in the washer and air dried it. I know they say not to wash the straps but seriously what could it hurt that bad? It’s water with a small amount of detergent and air dried. His puke was not coming out of the straps just being wiped down and me scrubbing it in the sink is no diff than the washer. To each their own though.
You can take most apart , and wash it in washer
My eldest has thrown up twice. Once when she was 1.5 and another when she was about 3. Both times I threw them away and purchased new. Throw up smell is so hard to get out. When it’s at home I throw away anything it touches; blankets, sheets, pillows, clothes, etc. In the car, I throw away the car seat & if it gets in the seats or the floor or door I just get a special detail for body fluids and throw up. With cleaners that have enzymes that dissolve the smell & all that
Hose it off then hot wash
happened to us yesterday it was everywhere. I took the fabric off put it in the wash. I scrubbed the actual chair it was easy as it was plastic basically. I scrubbed the seatbelt straps it was quick and left it outside to air out the smell. Just detergent vinegar and water in a bowl.
you cannot hose off or submerge a carseat or the straps in the any type of water! you can wash the cover in the washing machine. wipe down really well & let air out!
If it’s chunky puke I’d spray it with the hose first then take the cover off wash it hang dry and wash the seat part. I put the straps and buckles in a pillow case and wash them too
Wash as the manual says and leave it out in the sun
Yall just like trying to unalive your kids, don’t you? Like four of you said correct, safe information. The rest of you? Your car seats are trash and I pray you’re never in a wreck due to your failure to have a brain and USE IT.
ALL car seats come with a manual telling you how to clean it.
Not ONE seat says to spray with a hose, or use vinegar.
ITS UNSAFE.
Rinse the chunks out with a hose outside and gentle cycle in the wash and spray the seat down with the hose then spray with cleaning stuff and wipe you can take the it completely apart and wash the clips and straps too with dawn dish soap
