Legal Aid I believe uses a sliding scale. You should be able to get a regular lawyer to do these docs for $200-500. Maybe you can fill out the forms online & just get a notary to witness your signature.

Most lawyers will do a free consultation, they could maybe put you in the right direction

You need a lawyer its the only way… unfortunately there is no other options

Think it is called a Guardianship…
If already 18 may be more difficult…?

Legal service to see where you may start or see if a case worker at the hospital can help. They should have answers to your questions

Legal aid in your city can usually handle this for free or reduced

All the necessary forms and you just get notarized

If you have a staples( office supply store) you can print the paperwork yourself.

I had POA of my mother. The hospital social worker came to her room. We did the POA, DNR & other paperwork. But she was competent & able to make decision. If he’s unable to appoint you I think you’d have to have a lawyer to get the court to determine him incompetent. Call your local legal aide. They may be able to help you through it.

POA can only be done with a person who is deemed competent, they will have to sign the POA forms.POA is thr opportunity for a person to name who they would want making decisions for them when they are unable to.

Guardianship you have to go to court to obtain. It trumps any POA forms.

Does this person get disability? Do they have a social/ case worker? If so one of them should be able to help you. And the dr should be able to present something in writing regarding the person’s capabilities.

I got medical and financial POA for my mom for 45.00 for the attorney. You will need an attorney or at the very least a social worker. If the social worker has the papers and is a notary it shouldn’t cost anything.

The child needs to give permission or get doctor to sign off on it

A person must be legally competent to sign a power of attorney. So if the person has several disabilities he/she may not be able to sign. Talk to an attorney in your state for legal advice

You need to go to the court house and apply for Guardian ship for that person.

Pull up the papers on the internet, fill them out and take to so, they will help you. It takes about5 hrs to get all info, but you also need dr statements

For insurance company…u need a disabled dependant form…must employers will carry disable adult dependant…u call ur carrier after u find out if employers will keep him on policy and request form sent to u from ur carrier…u can also draw ir own papers up from online and bring them to the judge urself…pretty easy and way cheaper. Look for legit legal online there are many. I had poa of my mom and all I did was filled form out and had it notorized…perfect…was accepted.
