How to get baby to burp?

I have a 10 day old little girl and she hardly burps. I have tried the 3 most common positions and still she will only burp once in a while… Anything I can do to try to get her to burp more. She don’t spit up a lot, she only has a couple times and it worries me if she doesn’t burp when I lay her down she will spit up and choke…

If you are breastfeeding, they don’t swallow as air. If baby was in pain, they will let you know by crying.

When my 12 year old was a baby he didn’t burp unless he had like 8 oz of milk. You could pat and pat and pat and he wouldn’t burp.

Try gentle arm curls with her. I mean lie her head in crook of your elbow, bum in hand and do arm curls. It worked for us :joy:

If she seems like she’s uncomfortable, I’d try gas relief drops from Walmart for infants. Works great! If not, she probably just doesn’t have any gas. It’s normal.

I used to put two fingers on each side of my sons spine and work my way up. Dont put a lot of pressure, but just enough. Not sure why but it worked like a charm

I don’t have one that burps that often he is a perfectly happy little baby boy. He only burps if he is sitting up and patted so don’t worry to much unless she is uncomfortable

My doctor showed me how to hold my son out in front of me like on lion King. Just hold your hand under her armpits with your fingers behind her head and let her feet dangle. As soon as my son loosened up and his legs dropped freely, he burps. It’s great because nothing else was working. He is 3 months now and burps a lot easier than when he came home.

More than likely her latch is really good, there fore doesn’t need to burp. As long as she isn’t spitting up. Just continue to do every 2 oz or so even if she doesn’t burp and you should be good

Have her on your chest while leaning back a little, then Pat pat pat rub rub pat pat pat rub rub. Do this pattern a few times, then lean forward and pull baby away from your chest for a second then readjust her on your chest and do the pat rub pattern. Worked almost every time for my stubborn baby

Probably doesn’t have gas, especially if breastfeeding. One of mine never burped but farted. Pediatrician said as long as the gas is coming out he’s good! My delicate little girl baby would let out giant, loud, and long burps.:joy:

Elavate her if she dont burp.that will help after eating.hold her up to your chest and burp her rub her and she should burp

My grandson does not burp after either I lay him on my chest and rub him and he burp but he is 3 mos

Keep her propped up after feeding a little it might just mean that she isn’t getting air in her belly which is what u want !

Lay over your legs with belly on your leg and pat back or rub back

If she isn’t getting too much air during feedings then there is nothing to burp up. Does everyone you know burp after every meal?
If breastfeeding with a good latch there should be next to no air swallowed, this is a good thing.

Grab under chin so leam forward an pat between shoulder blade my mom snowed me that 59 yr ago

Neither of my kids were burper’s. If she isn’t spitting up or fussy after a feeding then I wouldn’t worry about it. Some kids are just naturally like that.

Not all ba is burp my youngest never did

Burping occurs when the baby has swallowed air along with the “milk”. If your babe is not burping, it means your little gal is an efficient eater.

Lay her across ur lap belly down Nd very gently bounce your knows while patting her back that’s how I had to get my son to burp Nd he was premature on weighed a lil over 4 lbs so just gently try this it worked for me

I bottle fed my babies both breast and formula and none of my babies really burped. With my first I was concerned and so I talked to the docter. At first the doctor had me show him what I was doing and thankfully my baby had just ate at the appt. Even my doctor tried and still no burp. He just said well if he doesn’t burp after this long then he isn’t going to. Never worried about it from then on. Some times they burped some times they didn’t.
