How to help your kids learn at home?

I want to start doing a little more with my two year old that’s hands on, but he doesn’t focus or sit- which obviously is expected at this age. He gets bored easily and obviously I don’t want to just use videos/screen time. He doesn’t understand the concept of ABC mouse yet so that a no go. What do you do? How do you make it fun? What do you implement?

If you look up Montessori activities, there are lots of hands on ideas :slightly_smiling_face: our children learn so much just from everyday activities at home, you don’t need anything fancy or dedicated to them “learning.” Sensory boxes are definitely a great, go - to. You can make them yourself or I believe they sell some in stores now (but might be for a bit older ages). But you can do different themes, use different materials, textures, etc for hands on. And just incorporating things into your daily routine is really helpful, although not always the “fun” that we think of, but when unloading groceries away or making a meal, etc, and he’s sitting there with you, as you pull out foods, could start “an Apple. A is for apple” have him try to recite it back, etc

Books, songs, hands on activities but not things that take up too much time. Even if you’re causally going for a walk or to the park, count your steps, trees, stairs etc.

Count with him out loud , sing songs like abc , sort things by colors and shapes , he’s still young so only a couple minutes at a te, don’t rush it , it will happen

Books, books and books. Reading to them. Songs etc
