how to increase milk supply, my daughter will be 1 month old Thursday and I want to go back to work, I haven’t been able to pump much and I need advice for exclusively pumping rather than her being on the breast!?
Oatmeal helps to up your supply, lactation cookies, fenugreek
Pump often even if it’s not much. Try mothers milk Tea and look up how to make lactation cookies they have certain ingredients such as flax seed and oatmeal to also help increase your supply! Good luck!!
Coconut Water works super well for me!! I was recommended BodyArmor drinks from someone and they increase my supply quite a bit!
Odouls beer. The wheat helps with lactation
I exclusively pump. I’m nearing the end of my journey but can give you lots of advice. 1st you need to make sure you have a good pump. I use the Spectra S1. Pump about every 3-4 hours. If you skip the middle of the night pump just have bigger bottles for the AM. I personally preferred to sleep rather than pump at 3 am. DO NOT use the Fenugreek stuff as it has been known to have an adverse effect. Stay hydrated and also be sure you are getting lots and lots of protein. I love me some almonds and they helped. Also as a treat I would get the pink drink at Starbucks or Body Armour drinks from any grocery store. They contain either coconut milk or coconut water and both are amazing for hydration. Feel free to PM me with any and all questions!!! Best of luck to you!!!
Drink lots of water, and eat lots of food. Whenever your daughter eats, you pump. Even at night. I exclusively pumped with my first baby, and this is what I did, and I made it a whole year. Good luck to you!
Drink… Water!!! You can’t make milk if you don’t have enough fluids to make it… Breast feeding mom of 6
Start pumping and good luck. I needed up not being able to pump cause my daughter didn’t take a bottle. I never tried early on and she hated it.
Original Gatorade (no G2) once a day! Helped me stay hydrated and I always saw a difference in my production if I didn’t have Gatorade!
Lots of water and fenugreek does wonders
I’ve been exclusively pumping for 8.5 months. Working full time since 6wks. I haven’t had a problem but one thing I heard was to look at pics/ video of your baby while you’re pumping at work for inspiration. Since you aren’t with them all day you aren’t getting cues from their presence. I also kept a separate set of bottles and phalanges in a bag at work, stored them in the fridge with my milk between pumping so I would only have to clean them at night when I brought them home. Bring a special sweater for pumping at work, in case it isn’t comfy with all your bits hanging out.
I had to pump every two hours. Eating oatmeal every morning helped too.
boost your supply:
Drink Water
Eat oatmeal (the real kind not instant)
Drink water
Raw almonds
Carrots
Drink water
Most anything whole grain
Drink water
Brown rice
Brewer’s yeast (you can have 1 beer a day, or non alcoholic if you’re really worried, or they sell pills)
Drink water
Pump right after nursing (or right before if you have a fast letdown)
Take fishoil vitamins (if you freeze them you dont get the fishy burps)
And drink lits of water.
Also keep your nipples healthy. Keep them clean and dry. Use nipple cream and keep and eye out for clogged pores
While pumping keep a onsie, photo of baby, and baby powder (for the smell) near by. Things that trigger mommy emotions. It helps with let down.
