How to potty tain a girl?

Hey guys,
So my 3 year old little is having such a hard time potty training. I have 4 kids total and it has never been this hard. She does however have a constipation issue that we have been dealing with for quite awhile now. She is a really really picky eater but once I can get enough in her she has the urge to go #2,but that is still a struggle for her. She is terrified of the potty and tries to holding her bm in. We have been to specialist regarding her constipation and eating habits and all we have been told is to give her high in fiber foods. We have tried everything and just want her to eat more and become potty trained!!! Thanks Ladies

she most likely isn’t ready to potty train yet. my 4 year old was very close to 4 before she potty trained. but as soon as she “got it” it was a matter of days

Sounds to me like she’s afraid because it’s painful, had the same problem with my son with constipation. The doctors told us to feed him a high fiber diet also sometimes it helps sometimes it did not. Feed her high-fiber foods that you know she’ll eat a lot of watermelon, pineapple, see if you can get her to eat like a sweetened bran flake my son would love to eat the bran flakes out of the Raisin Bran Crunch cereal. Good luck to you and her

Sounds like she isnt even close to being ready. Let her be and stop pushing it on her. She will come to you when SHE is ready

My son went through this where he would intentionally hold it in because he associated it with pain. It’s been a few years so I can’t remember the name of it, but his doctor recommended giving him a drink that was similar to pedialyte that would help soften his stools. Sure enough after that, he went into the bathroom by himself then came & announced to me that he did it.

My daughter was 2 &1/2 months away from being 4 when she potty trained… she literally did it in a day… she also has/had a constipation issue…

My son sees a specialist too. We take 3 tablet of pedialax a day to help with the issue. We’re currently in the process of eliminating the possibility of him withholding his bowel movements

Thank you all. She does drink milk in moderation. She will also take a bite of food and then proceeds to spit it out. I often wonder if she has some form of an eating disorder. She has been on miralax but that just seemed to give her diaper rashes with CONSTANT diarrhea. She was absolutely miserable.

Try adding a dose of miralax once a day.
We have been through constipation issues with my 8 year old since she was born. Started as a physical problem in which the ring around her anal hole wasn’t growing with her body as a baby which caused extremely painful bowel movements for her. Her Drs think this gave her paranoia of BM’s even though we medically fixed the physical problem before she even turned 3 years old (series of treatments that forced the ring to gauge). In other words it became physcological very early on and she would just hold it in expecting it to be painful, whether it actually was or not. After so long of this, constipation becomes compaction and that leads to even more severe medical problems. My daughter ended up hospitalized for treatments to decompact her mutiple times before we actually got it all under control. Finally, what worked was a dose of Miralax (which has NO side effects in children who drink plenty of fluids - which most children do not have a problem with) and therapy.
Not that your child has the same issues, of course. But in my personal experience, miralax has been a life saver and having used it going on 5 years now, has also done no kind of damage to my baby.

My son had really bad constipation issues and then our pediatrician told us to give him activia yogurt I started doing that and he got better

I would mix some of the foods that help with constipation into her meals. Try to make it taste good for her.

My daughter had constipation as well and was a picky eater.

Also invest in mirilax.

Sometimes it is the fear of letting go, they think their body is falling in the toilet. Give them lots of juice and water along with the high fiber diet and when they get relief, it will feel better and they will get the hang of it!! Good Luck

We had the same issue with Constipation. I switched her to almond milk, no dairy. She finally starting going without crying. I had to just stop trying to get her to go and relax.

My son is the same way with is bm but not scared of the potty (coconut milk seems to really really help him) as for potty training let her join in the bathroom when you goo she might just not be ready

Maybe you could get her a seat that go into the toilet that is her favorite characters or color
