Is it possible to lactating again after quitting?
Had my baby I’m June. Almost three months old now. I was pumping after her birth because I wanted to try breastfeeding. Had to quit due to not making enough to supply for her. So I picked up smoking.
I noticed I was lactating a little bit the other day and was wondering if it’s still possible to pick pumping up again? And since I’ve smoked do I have to dump before I start or can I start on a new day not worry about dumping? TIA
It should still be okay. Alot of moms smoke and breastfeed
Yes you can relactade en you don’t have to pump and dump.
Depends on what your smoking…
Yes… Moms who adopt can pump and lactate.
If you’re smoking weed you’re going to get mixed reviews, I suggest joining a group for moms who smoke, I know a good one if you want a link or invite… If you’re smoking cigs, you’re still good to not pump and dump. Either way you don’t need to pump and dump
The first month i wasnt producing enough either!i had to supplement. A little breastmilk is better than no breastmilk! Secondly, plenty of articles online say its okay to smoke (cigs) and breastfeed, just smoke immediately after breastfeeding so none of it is in your system. It takes 3hrs to be completely out of your system
Its mind boggling that you possibly have to p&d if u smoke weed something so natural and pure but not if u smoke cigs, pretty much rolled up poison
Sure let’s feed your baby up boob full of nicotine thats awesome
I smoke and breastfeed my baby is just fine
Why dont you quit. I wouldnt breastfeed if your smoking

Everything baby is hungry let him latch on. Then feed formula while you pump. After about 3-5 days you will start having something when you pump… just keep a good schedule up, pump both sides after baby latches and always let him larch first when he hungry
It’s possible, but speak to your doctor because I’m not sure how long it would take.
I’ve heard pumping and latching baby to the breast can make you lactate. Supposedly even women who didn’t carry the baby (used a surrogate) can do it but it takes longer. I don’t know how true that is though.
Power pump sessions.
Latch baby for a couple minutes
Increase calories and hydration
I’ve heard that it takes the amount of time that has passed to start to relactate. So if it’s been 2 months, you’re supply will be back in 2 months. Idk how true it is but I’ve seen many woman say it.
I think there are probably relactation groups. I would probably buy an SNS and fill it with formula and attach that so baby is stimulating production while still getting nutrition. Medela makes one and so does Haaka. And you can also pump to increase demand.
It’s really hard to do, but it can be done. Good luck
Try body armor drink they helped me also let baby cry it helps boost the ladies and let baby latch it will help start it or trigger like hey baby needs milk also speak with a doctor or Lactation nurse
I didnt quit for long, only a week but I dried up. Lactation specialist had me attempt to nurse my daughter every time my daughter made a noise. Its supply and demand. It worked and I nursed daughter until she was 14 months old.
You can relactate. I would honestly reach out to an IBCLC instead of your pediatrician or your OB because IBCLCs are far more trained in lactation than majority of doctors are

It takes a lot of patience and work. Get in touch with an LC and they can help you work out a pumping schedule and give you tips for getting baby to latch and getting your milk back in.
Speak to a lactation consultant, it is possible.
Baby will attract the milk. RN here. Don’t give up. Even you should do constant stimulation. My name is 11 going on 12. I still produce milk. Baby on breast will give your body the signals it needs in order to lactate. You got this. If not, formulas are amazing. As long as babe is full that’s all that matters. Good luck mama x
It can definitely be done but it is hard work. You will need to stay on a solid pumping regimen. If your baby will still latch, let them. It will definitely help speed up the process. Lots of skin to skin. Stay hydrated. Talk to your doctor. They might can prescribe something to help.

Yes it is possible. Your doctor may be able to help with something also to help you produce more milk
Put baby on as much as you can and try power pumping.
Don’t have any advice for relactating, but thought I’d share - there are fb groups where women donate/sell breastmilk & with the formula shortage woman have started offering being wet nurses if that’s something you’d be interested in.
One of them is human milk for human babies (your state).
Yes, call la leche for advise, or see if your doctor knows something

Power pump and lots of veggies and fluids
Latching will give best supply and demand.
Feed baby on demand.
Pump after every nursing session, power pump sessions.
Increase hydration and calories
It is possible!! Some women can lactate again years after stopping without being pregnant. Just keep doing what you are momma! Nursing on demand is the best thing you can do, also I recommend pumping the opposite side while he nurses, this will help encourage your flow. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!! Next to nursing on demand hydration is the most important thing. If you aren’t properly hydrated it will be much more taxing to nurse and more difficult as it effects your supply. Stay away from fenugreek- many women have negative side effects from this, most commonly drying up their supply(though some women have great success with it, it just isn’t worth the risk) .
Put em on well before he is actually fussy and hungry the one getting neglected is probably slower flow and he is hungry so impatient. Start sooner and offer that side first. Then keep swapping as long as he will stay on.
He just may prefer the position on one side. Sometimes they prefer turning their head one way or another. Put a pillow on your lap and slide him over so he’s nursing from the same side of his face.

Yes just put baby to breast as frequently as possible
nurse as often as he’ll eat, eat lots of fruits and veggies and drink LOTS of water, and pump the opposite side if he won’t nurse but make sure to feed him on that side next time to start and pump the opposite side if he doesn’t nurse from that side too.
My kids always had a favorite side. I’d pump their least favorite side and it worked for me.
I would pump the right side if he’s refusing it. But continue to try/offer both sides. Using the right pump is important.
There is help and resources out there, and there are groups you can join with other mothers.
I also know there are supplements women take to help with their milk supply, along with their healthy diet, and keeping hydrated.
Good Luck to you.
I’am making over $140 an hour working online with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over $ 17389 a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless

Yes ot is and you may want to contact the la leche league for advise. If your bay continues to refuse your right breadt you may want to contact a doctor as sometimes a small infection will not have symptoms, pain, redness or fever, but can alter the taste of the milk and babies will pick up on this.
I recommend The Leaky Boob
