How to run an at home daycare?

Ladies who run an at home daycare, I plan to start my own at home daycare this summer and was wondering how much I should charge per kid per hour with lunch and drinks included, they provide snacks. Ages range from two to seven. TYIA.

I don’t know what to charge at an actual day care. But when I baby sit, I normally charge $20 for a day

There is a standard rate for each state when you get licensed. You have to charge anyone on state assistance that rate and any private pay you can charge any rate you choose.

It honestly depends. I’ve lived in a few different states and have seen (for a full day) $18-$32. personally when I watched kids I charged $20 a day

I paid $40 a day for one child and thought it was very reasonable

Don’t overlook the cost of insurance.

Depends on if you’re cpr certified and other permits/ credentials. But $30-$40 a day with snacks or lunch included is fair.

I’m currently paying $800 a week for my two kids to go to daycare full time (7am - 5:45pm) but I’m in Australia.

I know a STAHM who ran a daycare. She charged $35/day

weirdly specific age range. But I guess it depends where you are, because some states you CANT have more than 3 kids extra without it needing to be a licensed daycare.
And like others have said, you can give a discount and still make out okay.

The average where I’m at for at home daycare is $15 a day per kid. And some do less during school because of not having them much. Some don’t even charge if they’ll have your kid for like an hour a day.

I’m in Illinois 1 west of Chicago… I get $35 for a 10 hour day… I’m teacher qualified doing this for 10 years

I am in Colorado. I am not licensed, I charge 20 a day if they are doing 5 days a week and 25 a day if less than 5 days a week

Depends on what area you’re in. Check the prices of local daycares. It also depends on if you’re licensed

we paid $1,000 a month for one kid, we switched to a home daycare and now pay $160 a week with food included, NYS . Really depends on your area though there could be a huge difference.

I “babysit” in my home. I am not licensed or state funded. I provide lunch and one snack. I charge $15/day per child.

I would check on line with city and state regulations concerning home daycares!

We pay 110 a week for part time. She goes about an hour or two m-f.

I charge $25 per child per day

Before u start make sure u know u can handle all kind off kids, and that u have enough to play and learn. And if possible have home camaras that records everyday. In case a child gets hurt u can show the parents when the ask.

Prices vary in different areas. Call around to other daycares in yoir area to see rates

Around where I am it’s 15-30/day per kid

My sitter charges $20 for 4hrs or under and $30 all day… She provides food and snacks.

If you’re not licensed I would say about 100/week. For licensed maybe about 200.
(We pay 60/w for non licensed, but we’re paying 170/w before for licensed)

Also, I’m sure this woman has researched home daycares and regulations, especially if she already has kids lined up. Lol.

She asked for pricing advice, not the daycare license police.

Look up laws in your state. In Alabama you can only keep a certain number of kids without a license.

I pay my babysitters 30 a day, 15 per child per day, and will more then likely started paying 45 a day here in the next month or two when my newborn is old enough he can’t come to work with me anymore.

My childrens daycare costs 33$ a day per kid (x2) its rough. After paying daycare my take home money would be 300ish a month. :sob:

You also need certification in many states (area safety evaluations, cpr training, food safety and allergy training)

I ran a in home childcare for years. I charged 20 a day per child included meals and snacks also had cameras for parents to see children. I also did charts for each parent per day on what was ate and or drank when and how much what we did that day as well as crafts an learning time also be sure to have parent sign and read a contract list all policies and procedures as well. Keep a file on each child also ask for who can and cant pick up child and always see a photo id. There will be a limit of how many kiddos you can keep in your care as well. Try to get cpr and first aid certification. Have references available for parents attached in the childcare application copy on hand.

Where i am in home day care is about $100 a week for full time. For one child.

I do $40 a day but I have weird hours and live where the pay matches the cost.

Following. Newborn due in 2 weeks.

I charge $150 a week for 1 $250 for siblings – and check your local laws - here unlicensed you can only watch 3 kids including your own.

Might want to include snacks. So Freddy gets fruit snacks for a snack and Emily brings Ritz crackers. You’re about to have a baby fight club :joy::joy:

I paid my awesome licensed daycare provider $40/day

You don’t charge hourly, for starters. Also if you’re planning to charge 35-40 a day per kid you need to be licensed, because parents aren’t gonna pay that for an unlicensed daycare.
Get your CPR, First aid, universal precautions and med admin certifications.

I pay 180 a week for a in home daycare they provide breakfast lunch and a snack. That’s in Florida.

You guys must be from Cali because I work 38 hours a week and only make $300. A week I would have to stay under the closest bridge to your house to afford this prices.

I pay 160 a week for my two year old each week. It is average about 32 a day and her daycare provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 snacks. My other 2 that go after school are 50 each a week. In the summer my 2 older kids will be 65 a week each. All meals provided as well.

Michelle you know some of this shit considering you work at one

I would do 20~30 a day prepaid

I have an in home, I have previous training from my healthcare job, so i have CPR, food safety, fire safety…I charge $4/hr or $30/day. I provide food, snacks, drinks for older ones. Younger ones parents supply food.
I also am not licensed, but have med training as well. I used to care for a feeding tube baby.

You should provide snack and have them provide lunch. Makes more sense

I do $20 a day per kid during summer vacation as long as parents pack food and snacks for their children and I don’t do any driving to pick up or drop off.

I pay 15 a day regardless if she goes. So 75 a week. She provides food and snacks but I do take her milk because she is the only lactose intolerant kid that goes. In Oklahoma btw.

Depends where you live and whether you are licensed or not.
