Hi! This isn’t mommy related. Just looking for some advice. So, I tend to get HORRIBLE allergies this time of year. Woke up today unable to breathe, eyes watering and burning, coughing. I took one Claritin, but it’s made no difference. I can’t stop sneezing and sniffling. Do you ladies know of something else I can try? I’m literally miserable. Thank you in advance.
I take over the counter zyzol
The ONLY allergy medicine that works for me is the Dollar Store brand! It’s just a small bottle of pink pills
I take Zyrtec but have heard that zyzol is amazing.
Try a different allergy pill… Zyrtek works for me… Claritin does nothing.
If you are used to taking Claritin, try switching to Zyrtec, or another brand. I had to switch every year! It was like i became immune to one brand!
The Claritin is not one that helps right away. It needs to be taken daily. I take Zyrtech but it doesnt help me right away. I also like to use the 12th hour Sudafed with the Pseudoephedrine. (Its behind the Pharmacy counter) It works great to clear up the congestion and sinus pressure and works quickly.
I get an allergy shot every year at the dr office and it works wonders.
Flonase, Steamy showers, diffuse essential oils, and humidifier. Best of luck !!!
Nasacort works well. Try a different antihistamine such as Zyrtec or Allegra. Sinus rinse is very helpful too.
Claritin and Zyrtec did squat for me. Allegra helps. You just have to keep plugging along until you find one that works for you.
Zyrtec and flonase combo
Doritos and Tabasco sauce will cause everything to drain and clear it out!! That’s my go to always!!
Just know with tablets like this it usually takes about a week to get enough built up in your system to work. Its something you need to take daily. You should supplement it with a good nasal spray.
The only thing that has ever worked for my allergies is Benadryl! I’ve gotten scripts from my doc and tried millions of other medications but nothing works for me like Benadryl.
I use the dollar store brand of benedryl it works great for me. You can also get the generic brand of benedryl at Walmart
Lemon, lavender and peppermint oil in a veggie capsule from a high quality oil company that sells investable oils. Works like a dream!
Allgera and flonase when used together I find they work the best.
Buy local honey and take a teaspoon aday.
I do Flonase and Benadryl. 1 squirt of Flonase in each nostril, massage in followed by a Benadryl. Then the same at night but with 2 benadryls.
Claritin does nothing for me. I benefit better from allegra
Zyrtec is the only thing that helped mine and you don’t have to take it every day, just when you’re having symptoms.
I switched from claritin to Allegra. Big difference.
The pink allergy pills from Costco work great. Claritin and Allegra sucked for me
Here in NZ some doctors will give you a steroid injection…my son suffers so badly that he can hardly breathe, eyes swell shut and he spends the summer inside in agony, this year he had the steroid injection and he was nearly symptom free!! Doctor said that it was first noticed when someone had hurt themselves and came in for a steroid injection (to help with a shoulder injury etc) and people said they noticed that their hayfever/allergies disappeared as well. Over here they only give it for extreme cases, the injection lasts for three months which was perfect for my sons allergies good luck, it’s an awful thing to have xxx:sleepy:
Take the Claritin every day. It wont work otherwise. My dr also gave me a nasal spray to go with it because mine are so bad.
Zyrtec worked wonders on me!! I used to take claritin daily and it never worked.
Asside from medicine something that can help is sitting on the floor in the shower while it’s running real hot and just relax and breath in the steam
Benadryl or a decongestion turn shower on hot and sit in bathroom with steam a humidifier also go to doc I have an inhaler for this time of year it gets bad so does my youngest
I just started Flonase it works amazingly!!!
Good luck. I’m taking claritin, sudafed and using flonase and I’m still miserable.
Claratin does very little for me. I use Allegra. Zyrtec and benedryl are also very good but make me too sleepy to function during the day. Also use Flonase. My ENT once told me if he could get everyone to use a nasal spray like Flonase daily regardless if you are having issues you would notice a big positive difference.
If you are congested you need something like Claritin D or Zertec D which you get behind the pharmacy counter
I take Claritin every morning and some Zyrtec also if it’s really bad…but you must be consistent- that’s the key. I will take a Benadryl at night but only if I have an allergic reaction to something
The best allergy med for me is the ones with D in it…You have to get it at pharmacy and show your licensce…Also use nose spray
Neti Pot, Flonase afterward. Zyrtec D. Personally I have to get a steroid shot, zPak and inhaler because I always get sinusitis this time of year.
Actifed and psuedofed work great but can make you drowsy. You can take psuedofed an hour before bedtime and at least wake up without any histamines in your body. Flonase nasal spray works awesome for me during the day.
Zyrtec or zyzol and flonase
Claritin is more of a management antihistamine, which would need to be taken daily, rather than just when symptoms arise. You’re looking more for something like Mucinex, pseudoephedrine, etc. to help decongest you
My father has really bad allergies and the only thing that works for him is the 12 hour sudafed.
But be careful how you use the nasal sprays. Using them too frequently or for too long can be harmful. Plus spraying them incorrectly can damage the inside of your nose. BTDT
Local farmers market and get wild flower honey take a spoonful daily and ur allergies will disappear
Local honey and neti pot
Put sliced onions on feet when u go to bed and wear thick socks to hold them o. all night. It will clear ur sinuses right up. I have year round allergies and this has been a life savor for me
I use saline 2x a day for a good blow out. Loratadine every am.
Benadryl or zyrtec helps me and I’m allergic to literally everything except food. Living in Tennessee with the pollen here lately too has killed me but they both help
Good old benadryl works every time only thing that helps me.
Zyrtec and Flonase. Claritin sucks.
Alavert d when you go in the pharmacy you have to ask for it and show ID they don’t have it on the shelves and trust and believe me it works wonders
Zyrtec D. You have to get it from behind the counter. It has been life-changing!
I woke up one morning with the same thing now I have a full blown head cold and sore throat
May make you tired but works better
Only thing that works for me is allegra.
Allergy shots! So amazing.
Boil some water and pour into into a cup mixed with apple cidar vinegar, honey and grounded cayenne pepper. Then squeeze a slice of lemon in it. Mix it, take some in by breathing through your nose while it’s still steaming hot then drink it once it’s cool enough to drink. Drink one once a day and you feel a lot better.
I bought Alkazeltzer Plus capsules and their fizzy tabs. Be ware they can make you loopy. I didn’t expect that from the fizzy tabs you put in water but it has provided relief. I also got emergen-c fizzy packets for the day time.
kinda like when breast feeding and engorged… hot shower and steam
wash hair every night otherwise you rubbing allergens into pillow and then putting your face in them. Yes then use nasal spray and Benadryl product.
I also have terrible seasonal allergies and find that Costco or Walmart brand allergy pills, the little pink ones, work wonders.
I take a non-drowsy Claritin but you can get a Claritin over the counter that stronger and that probably would help you more than what I take or just a general Claritin Carol Ann
Local honey 1teaspoon everyday. Or more
Zyrtec…even My Primary said it was the Best.
