How to treat chronic hypertension?

Seeking advice on chronic hypertension and pregnancy.

Currently, 12 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and got diagnosed with chronic hypertension. Baby #1 is 10 months old and developed gestational hypertension which turned into preeclampsia and had to deliver at 35 weeks. Currently, on a baby aspirin, every day and the doctor told me to take a Procardia every day. She also told me she wouldn’t want me to stay pregnant longer than 38/39 weeks pregnant. Does anyone have success stories with chronic hypertension while pregnant?

I’m doing the exact same thing rn!!! Except I’m 27 weeks and I also had it with my first daughter we delivered at 36 weeks I was induced because of my preeclampsia

I was on a beta blocker during both my pregnancies and my children were perfect, just try to relax, watch your diet, walk every day,and e everything will be ok listen to what your doctor tells you to do, and follow the directions

had htn before baby. relatively well controlled throughout. did not take any aspirin. changed from norvasc to bystolic for control. was induced at 39.5 weeks. no issues at all.

I had it at 36 weeks. Delivered at 37 because they were afraid it would turn to preeclampsia. I had a very healthy 4lb 15oz baby that had no nicu stay and never had to leave the room with us. Came home after the typical 3 days and now she’s a happy, healthy 10 month old

I had it toward the end of my first pregnancy and was induced at 37, but didn’t dilate after 26+ hours so they did an e-csection. I took up running and lost weight in between kids and was on the baby aspirin and did much better with my 2nd. Still didn’t dilate and they said because of my previous csection they had to take him before 40, so I scheduled 2 days before due, but my BP was great the whole time and minimal swelling. Drink lots of water and try to do low intensity cardio for a few mins a day, and very slowly work up to 30 mins. Get dr permission, of course. Try a recumbent bike if you have good knees. You’ll be too tired to stress. I’m no expert though. But good luck.

I was preeclamptic with my first and delivered at 34 weeks. BP was ok after. Dr put me on baby aspirin daily and planning to induce in 2.5 weeks (39 weeks) with no complications this time around

I just had my daughter in August at 37 weeks due to gestational hypertension and now I’m taking blood pressure meds to keep it controlled. She was fine and healthy but I had to stay in the hospital for a week afterwards. They put me on magnesium sulfate for 24 hours because I reach 187/105 and developed preeclampsia after having her. It was a mess

Try to relax. Stress free

I got pre-eclampsia out of nowhere with my daughter and had to deliver at 36 weeks. With my son, I got gestational hypertension early in my pregnancy and was on baby aspirin daily, as well as having to do twice daily BP checks. I had trace proteins on and off through the pregnancy, was off and on bed rest, saw the ER more than a few times due to a high reading, visual disturbances, bleeding, and severe headaches. Delivered at 39 weeks. Both kids are healthy and happy. My daughter turns 9 in 4 days and my son is 8 months on the 23rd.

I’m on aspirin and labetol, currently 27 weeks and all has been well since. Just try to keep calm and avoid stress I know that’s hard but try it, you’ll be ok dear

It’s not going to go away. Monitor closely.
