How to wean from breastfeeding?

How do you wean breastfeeding? My 1 year old (19 months) is obsessed with the milkies but I’m ready to be done. I don’t mind going longer because I know he’s not ready to wean but when that time comes how do you wean especially when he’s obsessed

I stopped night feedings first & then during the day I would just be firm with saying no & instead offered cows milk in a cup. I didn’t really wean🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m literally weaning my 2 year old right now. (27 months, whatever) he was also obsessed. We’re on day 3 of no boobie. He asks, pulls at my shirt, whines and cries for “bebe” and I just keep telling him, “no more, all gone” and then distract. He doesn’t drink milk so I can’t offer that, but I’m usually able to divert his attention to something else relatively quickly. As ready as I am to be done, I’m also low key sad it’s over. 🫶🏼

Same boat, she’s 19 months and won’t give it up… still gets up in the middle of the night and helps herself :face_exhaling::woman_facepalming:it’s funny you call it milkies cause she does to :joy::joy::joy:

My first I slowly weaned. Each week I cut out a feed. And then we got to only before bed that was the worst!!! Two nights of crying until he fell asleep cuddling and it was done! Now 7 years later and I am nursing his sister who is a boobie monster! She just turned one but only nurses for nap and bed time and during night. So I am hoping it will be easier bc my momma heart just can’t take it!

I had to do it cold turkey . It was awful . He would not eat or drink for 5 days and he screamed the entire time . My breast all of a sudden lost its milk at about 11 months . Dr said I had not other choice and when he got hungry enough he’d take a bottle . And he did . It was a long five days but he turned out to be a great man at age 35

All mine I cut day feeds then night. They were all 18 month and thinking nearly biting my nip of was hysterical lol. So did cold turkey offered beaker. Wasn’t to bad as was already not fed boob in the day

I always did baby led weaning where the baby had access to
Nurse as needed but was kept occupied with fun things to do that distracted them. Eventually they nursed for less amounts of time until they only nursed before naps or bedtime and if they fell down etc. worldwide average age of weaning is close to 3.

It’s so hard. My older one was easy cause he was hurting me but my 15 months old now is gentle and wants it all the time
