How to ween baby?

Ummm noo you just don’t feed him smoothies and water at night. He’s 7 months, are you stupid?

Please don’t water down any of his liquids. He needs as many nutrients as you can give him. If breast feeding is working for you both, keep giving it to him. He’s still a little baby and needs it

Why would you wean from the breast? Just add solids and perhaps some formula. No water or cow’s milk for the first year. You need to talk to your pediatrician.

Formula and BM is the main source of nutrition for baby until age 1. If he’s not getting full off the boob you need to give him formula.

A 7 month old should NOT be having cows milk at all! Either breast milk or formula ONLY until 1 year. And when you do give cows milk, you don’t water it down… He shouldn’t even be having water yet either… Wtf…

My kids were on homo milk with a small blob of corn syrup to sweeten it like breast milk and to help poop. Both were around 7 months. Both are a happy and healthy 8 and 10 year old. My mom did the same for all three of us as babies (actually at three months because she had to go back to work), and guess what?! We’re all healthy in our thirties and have a great life! I wouldn’t suggest watering it down, use homo milk, but do what’s best for you and your family. Good luck!

No cows milk or water or smoothies til 1. He should have breast milk or formula only . U either need to nurse him more or supplement with formula .

No no no to all of this I am sorry normally I am nice about this stuff but I just can’t with this. At almost 7 months his main source of nutrition must be Breastmilk or Formula NO COWS MILK UNTIL A YEAR! If you are having a problem with milk production and are not producing enough then it’s time to start supplementing with Formula. It’s not to late to sign up for assistance for the formula if you can not afford it, He can be eating baby food or even table food if you follow BLW but it is to not replace BM or Formula as nutritionally he is not getting enough from the food at this age. Also no smoothies and Water should be limited to no more then 4oz per day additional to his Breastmilk or Formula.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with supplementing with Formula if your having supply issues. But by forgoing it completely and moving to watered down milk you are risking your child health.

Wtf did I just read. :woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming:
No. He’s only 7 months old. He NEEDS breast or formula until at least one. And you don’t fucking water down milk, that’s dangerous. And he shouldn’t be drinking a lot of water either. :woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming:
If your issue is that he wakes up at night or is constantly nursing, that’s NORMAL. he’s probably teething, or using you as a pacifier, breastfeeding is more than just food.

I swear… some people just shouldn’t procreate. Omfg. :woman_facepalming:

You can start cow milk at 9 months old 3.25 with a well balanced diet

Ask any nutritionist you can start at 9 months

My 3 boys stayed on formula up until 1 year of age. Per doctor/nutritionist. Or doctor(s) should I say. Sure they may be able to tolerate cows milk at a younger age but that doesn’t mean they don’t NEED the extra nutrients. Or that its best for them. Moving along now

Please tell me this is a joke

Omg! No milk till he’s one year old!!!
And really even up till 2yrs…research.

You don’t water down milk. And you definitely don’t give a 7mo cows milk.
Breastmilk or formula for the first year and no foods until 6mo (I know, he’s 7mo) always offer the breast or bottle before solids.

He needs some cereal and I agree my pediatrician said no cows milk tell 1 and I just started giving my son eggs and mashed potatoes at 7 months of course he was still eating baby food integrating those foods

No cows milk until 1 year old. Add a small scoop of cereal into the formula. It’ll help fill the baby up so you’re not blasting through the formula

PLEASE ask your son’s pediatrician, not facebook/google “doctors.” your son’s health & nutrition is NOT something to play with and try to tackle on your own, hence why babies have so many appointments

A 7 month old should still be nursing at least 6-8 times in a 24 hour period. Baby food is just for learning to eat with textures and tastes, not a reliable source of nutrition! Cutting him down to only one breastfeeding session means you are literally starving your poor child. His stomach is unable to pull enough nutrition from any other foods right now. He is starving!

Most people say no cows milk till 1 cuz that’s what their ped told them js :woman_shrugging: my boys been drinking cows milk here and there since about 8-9 months. He HATES his formula. And hes allergic to pretty much all formulas so we have to get the nutramigen and considering the way it smells I can only imagine how it tastes. It all depends on baby for foods. My boys been munching baby food or completely blended foods since about 4-5 months. Of course dont make it their main source of food though. But now hes got 4 teeth and is already chewing most his food so :woman_shrugging:

The main source of nutrition should be breastmilk/formula until a year old. Should not introduce cows milk until after that. Baby food/soft table foods is good as well during the day.

My oldest started on goat milk at 9 mnths and cows milk at 10 mnths per drs agreement. And my 2 month old is about to get cereal because hes eating way to much. Per dr. Yall need to quit flipping out. Fr. Every kids different

Woah … talk your paediatrician.

Babies can’t have cows milk until at least a year! If your not making enough breast milk you need formula and at 7 month you can’t just give him something at night they need more nutrition then that

No! If you want to stop breast feeding you have to do formula until one year of age.

No cows milk until age 1

You don’t give a child under the age of one cows milk? BUT talk to your pediatrician about almond milk maybe. My daughter pediatrician let her go to almond milk by 10 months. But my daughter got switched to regular milk after 1 and she has a milk allergy. So she continues to drink almond milk to this day and she’s almost 4.

Man, this shows how much information is given to new moms…watered down milk wtf

Oh my goodness no that’s not ok! Always ask the pediatrician first baby should be breast or formula fed up until a year and should be the main source of food until then even if you get the milk thing approved by dr. Milk is the main source of nutrition. And no watering down.

Why would you water his milk down he needs that for strong bones and teeth and through out the day

Among all the other crimes to this post, you should NEVER water down cows milk.

Cows milk is fine straight the doctors will tell you other wise but their wrong read the label on formula whats the first ingredient

Baby needs breastmilk or formula until the dr tells u it’s okay to switch… every baby is different but they still need milk. My dr let me give my son 3.25% milk at 10m (he stopped breastfeeding because I was 3 months pregnant with his brother, kept refusing the boob and bit me a couple times before I was like ok he doesn’t like it anymore) 7 months is way to young to not have milk. Even after one they should have at least 3 8oz bottles/a glass a day. Baby at 7m should have 3 meals a mix of purée and BLW. Hope you talk to your dr

Also the baby food you just keep trying different flavors they may spit it out but they are learning a new texture so just use your baby spoon to get excess back into their mouth

You are supposed to wait till a year for cows milk, and “food before one is just for fun” formula and or breastmilk is still supposed to be the main source of nutrition till after they turn a year

No one NEEDS cow’s milk.

Baby’s need formula if you not making enough breast milk and idk about your doctor but mine told me to not give my kid straight water at that age so best to ask your pediatrician first but really shouldn’t give a infant cows milk before 1 years old :woman_shrugging:t2:

This has to be a troll post. No way anyone thinks that’s plausible. And if they do… They need child classes or children removed. They tell you at hospital…boob, formula, or both until 1 year

No. Whole milk until 1 years old and then 2% or even skim afterwards so he gets the vitamins he needs without the fats.

You dont want your child to develop an autoimmune condition, allergies, or a vitamin and mineral deficiency. Get some fenugreek or mothers milk from mountainmeadowherbs.com and keep breastfeeding him just up your milk supply or buy some organic formula, it has the best vitamin and mineral content and you avoid 15 toxins…don’t introduce regular milk until he is atleast 1 years old.

When you do introduce milk choose grass fed whole milk. The fat is healthy for their growing brain and body. Watered down milk is less nutritious.

Um…avoid cows milk as long as you can. It’s full of sugar and hormones. Formula is fine or if you can pump do as much as possible and feed him that. What’s with the smoothies? What kind? All I can think of is junk food and that’s terrible. You should be able to feed your baby what’s you’re eating, provided it’s not fast food.

Um no ma’am, buy formula :woman_facepalming:t2: no baby under 1 Y.O. should have cows milk

He needs to be on formula or breast milk until a year old. They need the nutrients from it.

This must be a joke to get a rise.

You have to wait till he is a year old before taking off formula/ breastmilk

So…basicallt you are starving your baby.

His main source of nutrition should be breastmilk or formula until 1. If you aren’t producing enough you should supplement with formula. 7 months old is wayyyyy to young for cow milk. And then it should be whole milk

He can not have cows milk until 1 years old he needs breatmilk or formula

Beforr age one, babies should receive their nutrition from either breast milk or formula. Food before 1 is just for fun. For proper growth and develoment they need their nutrition from breast milk or formula. You can give them food, but not to replace the bm or formula. Do not water down the milk, and do not give them cows milk until age 1. After they are 1 they do not even need cows milk if they receive their calcium sources from other sources like cheese, or yogurt, etc. Please discuss with your pediatrician

You do not give an infant anything other than breast milk or formula. With a doctors okay, start puréed foods around 6 months. That should help fill him up. If you’re concerned about anything, I suggest you contact your sons pediatrician rather than a Facebook group.

All my kids and nephews were fed cow’s milk b4 one!!! But dont water anything down!!!

Main source of nutrition is breast milk or formula until 1 your little one is 7 months so you CAN NOT take off breast milk. You can give him solids but has to have more breast milk then solids and definitely can’t have cows milk until one. And even then I wouldn’t water it down. Please don’t starve your child

He should be eating food now.

You can start around 11 months to switch over, do half whole milk and half formula or breast milk. That’s what my ped suggested. I wouldn’t do it any sooner as it can give them tummy issues. Good luck

This has to be a joke!! Do you even talk to your babies dr about anything?

By 7 months he can eat yogurt, eggs, pancakes, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, bananas. But if the breast is not enough give him formula. Cows milk does not have what he needs at that age.

Hey if you figure out how to ween let me know. I have a 2 yo that loves boobies. He eats meals and drinks out of a cup. Still wants moms milk. So good luck.

No cows milk till hes about a week from being one and dont water it down try transitional formula 9-12 months then next step after 12 months along with cows milk #1 source of nutrition comes from breast milk or formula before twelve months baby food is not just for fun tho he needs that as well

Then give him formula !!! I can’t believe so e of these questions no cow’s milk till a year old solids are fine after 6months but be definitely needs breastmilk or formula untill 1 year!

I didn’t transition my son over to cows milk until a week before his first birthday. I started with only 2oz cows milk and 4oz formula and then slowly decreased the amount of formula so he could get used to it.

First thing no cows milk till a year second thing don’t water it down … just buy formula

Um… dont “water down” cows milk. Lol
But what smothies are you giving a 7 month old? And honestly you should still be breast feeding during the day or giving formula at 7 months. Start transitioning from breastmilk/formula to cow milk at 11 months.
Baby should be getting baby foods and table foods( just watch what table food if they dont have many teeth)

If you can’t afford formula and you’re in the US, make an appointment with WIC to get formula.

Sounds like you need to attend parenting classes. You are starving your child!!! Just switch to formula because obviously you aren’t breastfeeding correctly either.

Cows milk is terrible for humans…Wish I knew more when my kids were little…Please research and get info for yourself

There aren’t enough nutrients in cows milk for babies under 1. Try supplementing with formula and introduce baby foods in phases so you can watch for allergies.

7 months is a bit young for water, milk you should hold off until atleast 11 months… he still needs that nutrients from your milk until atleast 10-11 months, dont switch him to early, but maybe try a supplemental formula, food he only needs baby food 2 times a day… he’s still a baby hun don’t rush him…

Wow. Some of the language and judgy crap in here… Go talk to WIC and the lactation consultant. They are awesome. I didn’t bf for very long as mine was in the NICU and needed higher caloric content formula and i mostly pumped but they were invaluably helpful in fixing any issues i was having. Also check in with the pediatrician or nutrition counselor (also wic). BF is hard mamas lets not make it harder or worse by being ridiculous and condescending.

Some of you people are ridiculous and really shouldn’t have kids. :person_facepalming:

Feed your child baby food and breast milk or formula at feeding time and rice cereal as well. If you have a boy usually they do eat a little more. I had fixed rice cearel with breast milk or formula for breakfast them 2 or3 HR later veggie baby food and milk 2 or 3 HR later fruit baby food and milk. I worked I daycare for 12 years. I really think u may want to try this.

Cow milk and water or water down cow milk is a big NoNo.

Ask thenxhilds pediatrician plz. But plz leave baby on formula or breastmilk til 12 months. They have so much more studies now and 12 months is definitely needed and recommended

You can try giving your little one some egg yolk. And put half cows milk and half formula. But in all truth you have to do what you feel is right for you baby.

Just consult your Dr. Anyone who comments on what to do or not to is just their opinion or what they have heard. Drs have a different take on it all too so I would recommend talking with the pediatrician & following what they say instead of listening to anyone on here.

I started to incorporate meats, cooked tender and shredded into my L0s baby food before bed along with oatmeal.
A little water is okay, not much tho. I do a little in a sippy while hes eating.
Teething wafers work awesome. Mine wants to feed himself, now that he has a tooth, but cant really yet. So they’re a good alternative.

Seriously any wonder people won’t ask a simple question!!! Baby is fine on cows milk mine were all on cows milk by 8 months and eating 3 solid feeds a day and drinking water from weeks old and you WOULD NOT BELIEVE IT(according to all the text book reading mothers) they are all fine!!! My grandson is now on cows milk too has been for awhile and he is 10 months old and in actual fact was a very spewy baby until we started the cows milk and he is no longer a spewer!!! And he has 3 solid feeds a day as well as water!! Honestly the best advice you will get is from the older people who had 13 kids and none of the bullshit they carry on with these days!!! I listened to my Nanna and my kids are better for it!!

Oh my gosh :woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming::woman_facepalming: this post this thread. PLEASE not to sound rude but you need to be a little more educated about this stuff go speak to your pediatrician like asap
