My son is breastfeed and he’s 18 months but I’m over breastfeeding, I want my body back and the biting hurts with that said what milk would I switch him too? Hes allergic to dairy, not lactose intolerant, full blown allergic so I’m confused on what milk to start trying to give him to wean him off me.
Maybe this is something you should ask your Dr
There are plenty of non dairy alternatives out there. At 18 months most of his diet probably consists of solids Shouldn’t be too difficult to wean.
Be careful with oat milk. Quick way to fatten up baby. My girl gained 20 pounds in a very short time on oat milk.
You don’t have to switch him to any milk…after 12 months as long as they are eating solids they are good. Definitely talk with his pediatrician since he has allergy issues.
Goat milk? Not sure how it acts compared to cow milk as far as allergies though
Me personally I go with almond milk. But then again, I’m not a dietitian. Talk to the doctor.
Definitely a pediatrician question
Definitely ask your doctor! We did ripple milk.
Look into the ingredients in these alternative “milks” and you will narrow your choices that way. Talk to your dr and nutritionist
My sons went to organic soymilk after weaning. They have issues with regular milk. They don’t drink milk at all-just use it on cereal.
Definitely talk to your pediatrician since he is younger. My almost 3 year old is ANA to dairy and we have decided to use Ripple kids when he runs out of my stash.
Almond milk is what my grandson went to after breastfeeding with his milk allergy.
My 18 month old is strictly soy
There are very good lactose free milks out there - Fairlife is one of
My boy had a dairy allergy to, due to his weight issues he was on a special milk called Kate farms, but once we switched him off that he was on oat and almond milk. He’s almost 2 and that’s still what we give him
Doesn’t really have to have milk but I would go to almost or coconut milk.
i started my boy 6 years ago on almond. he still drinks it to this day!
I would talk to a doctor and maybe a dietician about it, but at that age they don’t really NEED milk. Maybe a calcium supplement and eat foods high in vitamin D. I would just make sure he has a solid, healthy diet for that age, and seek out a non-dairy alternative. Unfortunately oat milk and almond milk are fairly new to the world, they didn’t become popular until the last decade, and it’s largely untested and unknown what long-term effects it may have. There’s also been a lot of stuff coming out about why almond milk is unhealthy. Soy milk is definitely going to be the best replacement I know of bc it doesn’t have added sugars, and that’s a big thing. It’s nutritionally similar too. Again I’d definitely consult your child’s doctor, but that’s likely what they will say. I always do my own research as well bc I have been led to believe certain things from pediatricians that ended up NOT being best for my daughter (who’s medically complex)
I have 3 children and all were exclusively breastfed until 11-15 months. They never drank any milk once they weaned, as long as they’re eating solids and drinking water milk isn’t needed. Even now at ages 3-8 years old the only time they drink milk is the leftover from their cereal🤣 and once in a while they request chocolate milk.
Ask your dr for best advice
The thing is… It’s such a lie that we still need milk after a certain age. You don’t have to switch your little to any milk product. Just give them a healthy diet
Yeah I was told technically they don’t need milk if they are eating cheese, yogurt etc. but if he’s allergic not sure then. Definitely talk to his doctor about alternatives.
Soy, Almond, Rice Milk, Oak Milk?
Vanilla almond milk has a very similar taste to breastmilk and can be a good dairy free choice to wean to. That or oat milk. I personally stay away from soy milk for my kids
Almond milk, my youngest has a dairy allergy and she also had reactions to soy, the almond milk is the only thing we can use.
Pump and freeze or plant milk almond coconut oat he’ll love it.
Almond milk.
Remember: humans are the only species on the planet that drinks milk past infancy and drinks other animals milk.
So, we don’t have to have milk
I use HiPP for my little one when I can’t produce enough breast milk. He would reject everything else I tried or get bloated & vomit but so far the HiPP formulas have been a perfect fit
