I just recently found out I’m pregnant, but I’m still breastfeeding my one year old and don’t plan on stopping yet, but I can feel my supply dropping. How can I keep my milk supply up?!
Mother’s Milk. It’s a tea you can get to help milk supply
Google about brewers yeast and increasing breast milk
Oatmeal
Body Armour drinks
Coconut water
Water
Oatmeal, hydration(Gatorade), mother milk tea did work for me… pump between feedings, even if you don’t produce much it will tell your body to start producing more.
I think that’s supposed to happen. I would do a little research but I think the milk wanes for a small period of time before the new baby comes
You’ve probably heard this many times but that’s all there is to it.
Eat nutritional food drink plenty of water, feed feed feed. Try, tea, if nothing seems to help, there’s a pill to help you produce milk.
Unfortunately pregnancy hormones usually cause people to dry up not much you can do about it… little one may still want to comfort nurse
Oatmeal. Mothers milk tea
My son started to wean himself when I got pregnant with my second, so as he fed less, my milk started to drop. On the other hand I had a friend who fed all through her pregnancy. Make sure you stay hydrated also my doctor said that the further your pregnancy goes, your milk will revert back to newborn milk which is a different consistency which might make you feel as though your milk supply is changing.
Oatmeal, I personally use mothers milk tea but it doesn’t work for some women so proceed cautiously with that. Pump in between feedings, I also pump when I first wake up before the baby wakes and wants to eat.
If you’re close to your due date that’s normal. Your supply will drop to change to colostrum and then your milk come in for the new baby. Your milk changes as the baby grows and when you get close to your due date your milk will change back to milk for a newborn. I just had my second a week ago Wednesday and that’s what the lactation consultants told me.
You might want to talk to your dr he can recommend something my sister in law’s dr told her breastfeeding can increase risk of miscarriage don’t knowhow true or common it is but your dr can tell you
Ask your doctor about blessed thistle and fenugreek vitamins.
Make sure to also keep you nutrition and calorie intake up, you’re providing nutrition for 3
A beer… just one. I was told that works wonders. ( never bf myself but I know many that have and I tried to keep informed and supportive)
Mother’s milk tea, and Birth song Let there be milk drops.
Fennel essential oil! You only need to use it a couple days though because it works quickly and effectively! Make sure you use pure fennel. I used it when my supply dropped and within 2 days, it was way above normal
Please ask your doctor before taking any supplements while you’re pregnant. But keep hydrated and try adding some pumps in too. To make more milk you have to remove milk
Some of you don’t even fucking read shit before you comment do you?
Milky mama! They have a Facebook and Instagram. They’re products are natural and amazing they helped boost my supply like crazy!
Oatmeal would always boost my supply up rapidly. Would always need to pump within an hour of eating it. Usually made about 8-12 ounces at a time.
I hear oatmeal is good for supply. Just keep feeding your little one and you’ll keep making it. It’ll be less but as long as your child is eating solids too it shouldn’t be a problem. I fell pregnant again just before my first turned 1 and she still breastfeeds now (though it’s only before naps and bedtime or when she’s upset) and she’s almost 2. As your supply drops, you might want to let your little one nurse longer to make up for the quantity.
Blue Gadorade, plenty of oats/fiber, power pump between feedings, stay hydrated
Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do
It’s hormone related so there’s really not much you can do. I completely lost my supply by the time I hit 14 weeks pregnant.
I have the same issue. But I’m trying to wean that way my baby can have her colostrum when shes born.
Tea there is many kinds of tea that help milk supply I pumped on the other breast when my son was nursing really upped my supply
Apparently drinking Coke she eating peanut butter helps for good milk supply
Blue Gatorade
Oatmeal
I drink body armor and the days I drink it I over produce, you should probably drink more then a gallon of water a day too
Oatmeal and mother’s milk tea (which tastes gross by the way). The best way though is to keep nursing. I nursed throughout an entire pregnancy and my supply never dropped although around 35ish weeks my daughter told me that my milk tasted different and I figured it was because it was colostrum in prep for my second daughter. But seriously, I had no supply problems. I ate oatmeal every single day (apparently cinnamon brown sugar oatmeal makes your breastmilk taste like cinnamon as my daughter informed me of this.)
Well done for getting pregnant whilst still feeding took me a few months for that to happen. My daughter went off my milk when I was about 16 weeks the midwife said pregnancy can change the taste I wish I’d pumped more in between feeds as she was drinking less each feed so my supply went down. If I’d done this she would have gotten used to the new taste and I would not have weaned her so early
Ginger tea!!! It doesn’t taste the greatest but it sure does the trick and its beneficial for both you and baby
Do both, breastmilk and bottle feed too, that will give u more milk.
You will be fine. Just keep feeding. Drink more fluids.
Dont stress. My boys were 11.5 months apart. If I could you can
Rolled oats for breakfast, protein in all meals, snack on nuts and keep your fluids up especially now it’s warming up. We also have a range of lactation goodies you can see Milk it baby
www.milkitbaby.co.nz
Let the baby (if interested) suck longer than usual, it lets your body know he/she needs some more. I have this problem often I like to drink dark beer, next day I have hella milk, I usually have like 3 the night before. Or eat lots of whole oats, and iron heavy foods like dark greens (spinach) and red meat! Never fails
Express in between feeds and try to feed more as well
Try the milk cookies they have at walmart
You can still breastfeed while pregnant! You should join this group
The Official Milky Mama Lactation Support Group
Also check out the Milky Mama lactation treats! They’ve helped tons of women build their supply back up! But the group is full of supportive BF mothers with all kinds of questions, and everyone is VERY supportive, non-judgemental (might get a nosey nancy here and there but it’s really such a supportive group)
Don’t give up on your journey if you’re not yet ready mama!
My dr told me I had to stop breastfeeding because I wouldn’t produce enough for both that was 32 years ago so maybe things have changed check with your doctor
Fenugreek. Im not sure if you can take it while pregnant again. Might look that up. Congrats
