I feel like my career is going no where?

I’m 40 and feel like my career is going no where. At times I think I need to go back to school but then I don’t feel like I can afford it or even smart enough to go back. Just a Mom trying to be successful and be able to buy my son his first car.

You are totally smart enough! If you feel like back to school will further your career, go for it!! You can apply for grants and pale grants. I’m considering going back to get my degree so I can move up and further my career…and I’m not a school person lol. You can do it!

You can’t do everything at once! You’re a mom, maybe a wife, possibly have outside interests or responsibilities, have a home to take care of, and approaching midlife when we all reevaluate. Maybe your career is going on in the background while you concentrate on other things right now.

Do you want to further your career or do you feel you’re supposed to? Look around at places you may want to go and do some research and information interviewing. Maybe your wouldn’t like it at all. Maybe a certificate instead of a degree would work. Maybe just learning one new skill would move you forward. Ask your boss & maybe their boss what they would do in your position.

Let your son earn money for his own car and pay for his insurance, not that you can’t help him with some of the cost, but he’ll be more careful with it if he’s had to put in the work and money for it himself.
