I have been having pain in my left breast for months: Thoughts?

I have been having pain in my left breast for months. I’ve attributed it to irritation from the birth control implant in my arm on that side. My arm hurts too. It’s not bad enough to really get it checked out; I think it’s just because I’m fat, and the implant rolls around a lot. Breast cancer does run in my family, but I told myself I would accept my fate if I ever got it. I’m still in the same mindset. We don’t have insurance to chase a diagnosis or treatment. I’m starting to feel like it’s bad news, and I don’t know what to say to my husband. I’m still committed to not fighting it. I just don’t want to suffer longer than I have to. But I feel like I can’t just keep quiet about it whether I have cancer or not. I do want to see a doctor, but unfortunately, we’re in the middle of moving so it’s difficult. I’m almost inclined to continue to ignore it. I’m so overwhelmed with the move, life, kids, and everything else. How do I confront this?

You should definitely ask an online community with no medical expertise. If you’re not fighting it, then why care what it is?

Is it a spasm pain where your implant is? I get that if I move my arm weird, it only lasts a minute if that. But anything other then that get it looked at. One less stress off the list.

There is a free breast Mammograph program. Your local hospital should be able to tell you how to contact them. If you feel that your implant is the cause or want it removed, Planned Parenthood should be able to remove it.

Why are you asking us what to do? You already have your mind made up.

You need to see a doctor ASAP. It’s most likely not cancer, but it could be a variety of serious issues such as the implant moving, etc.

Contact your local clinic or Planned Parenthood to get yourself checked out. If you have no insurance or are underinsured, it should be free to low cost based on income.

You need to get checked. Think about the big picture. All those things you are busy with and overwhelmed with, You might not be around to get overwhelmed with later… I had breast cancer and didn’t even know it. Luckily we caught it early and I am fine now. Thank goodness. It’s nothing to mess with, just go get checked and if it’s not, great but at least you will know.

Uhm i would start by having your birth control implant removed and letting your obgyn know about your symptoms…

Planned parenthood offers free mammograms and offers free counseling and connections to doctors whatever you decide to do but I would remember you have children. Both my great grandmothers died of cancer very young and another of a bee sting all in their fifties. They could have been around to support their kids and meet their grandchildren. I know I would have loved that time with them. I always feel angry that we missed out on each other. I would hate if my mom chose to give up without a fight when their was a chance to be there in our lives because she is everything to our family.

Do you have any dimples on the breat or lumps? Start with those. Then see a Dr

Go to your local women’s health. Usually stems from social services. They cover women’s health stuff from birth control, pap smears, mammograms, etc.

they told me a cancer stays in one spot where cyst does more when you feel it with your fingers

Does you armpit hurt and is it swollen? Swollen lymph nodes in your armpit are an early sign of breast cancer. I would check into any and all available resources in your area. If you contact the health department they might be able to give you options.

My daughter has no insurance but gets free mammograms through the Susan Koman Foundation. I am a breast cancer patient. Check with them.

It could also be a number of other things besides cancer. Contact your local health department/planned Parenthood/social services and ask where you can get checked out

If you have pain in your breast and on your arm… girl that could mean cancer has traveled to the lymphoid. My grandma had a breast removed and 25+ years later, the cancer came back in the lymphoid and it hit all over her body. She passed last june. Your local hospital or clinics with steer you in the direction of getting that checked for free.

You have to take care of yourself to be able to take care of others! Get it checked out maybe just a clogged milk duct even if you haven’t breastfed for a long time or ever, sending prayers your way :pray:t3:

Ma’am, take your a** to a doctor. It may be something or it might be nothing. The only way to find out is to be seen. It you don’t have insurance, check to see if there is a free clinic in your area. Talk to your husband and let him know what’s going on. I’m sure you would want to know if he thought he was possibly sick. Good luck.

If you have the norplant & they are moving. The Dr is supposed to remove them.

Go get yourself checked yeah you’ve accepted your fate and all that nonsense but you don’t know what it is, your happy to leave your husband, and children without you because you don’t have insurance, make it work and find out for yourself, stand up and put your big girl pants on you should never be that role model for your children shying away from something that could be treated or prevented. Could you imagine how much that would burn in the minds of all those around you, second you became a mother its not about you no matter how old your children are so be there for them as much as you can.

U need to see a doctor right away! Chances R it’s NOT cancer but if it is U have a MUCH better chance the sooner U start treatment.
Ignoring it will NOT make it go away will just lessen you’re chances if it is anything serious!!
Go see a doctor!!

I have had some discomfort in my right breast, I just had a mammogram ( no cost to me ) I got my results and all is normal. Call the women’s clinic and get one set up and go , it was like a 20 min apt in and out , I have rather large breast and all was completely comfortable. Just do it , then handle the results as you see fit .

See a Dr. Immediately. Speaking from experience I had it and survived but Breast cancer is a catastrophic illness lots of grant money for no insurance individuals.

I was having pain and went for mammogram it was clean no cancer. Turned out I had dislocated a rib how I don’t know. I had to get adjusted by my chiropractor popped my chest back in place and it was no longer hitting the nerve that was causing the breast pain. Best of luck to you.

Go to the doctor please. The wisest thing we can do is seek answers to our health. You have to consider your children. You want to be well and hopefully it’s something easy to fix and nothing major and you get your peace of mind back. And if it is cancer, early detection a d treatment can save your life

Go see a doctor immediately and talk this over with your husband. Whatever the case may be you will need his support. Everything else can wait and plus you have to do this for your kids.

Get to the doctor …sooner you do you will have a piece of mind …

Have you done a self check breast exam for lumps? Don’t ignore it because the earlier the better. If you don’t have insurance then try calling the health department and see if they can see you, if it’s something of concern they will refer you to a dr and usually cover it.

You definitely need to talk with your physician. I have had two arm implants and they don’t move around. It concerns me that yours is moving. Not saying it can’t happen but I have never had breast pain from the implant. I also have multiple friends with the implant and they keep getting them replaced so I can’t imagine that they had pain either. This is definitely concerning and I hope you go get checked out. Do it for yourself and your family. Prayers to you

It sounds like a fibroid! U can get them from too much caffeine and they are very painful! They aren’t cancer!

Make an appointment tomorrow. You can’t take care of your family and kids if you don’t take care of you!! Just explain you don’t have insurance, and they will be able to help connect you to agencies that will help with those costs.

See a doctor now. As a breast cancer survivor (15 years) you needs to check it out. There are agencies that can help you get the treatment you need. Don’t let pride keep you from living. Your family needs you.

See a Doctor. It may not be anything but better to be safe than sorry.

Please don’t ignore it. See a doctor. It might be nothing, but it could be something so simple.

Get it checked ASAP!
Also, have you had Covid vaccine? A side effect has been known to mimic breast cancer.

U better go to the Dr just to be sure.
I dont know how old u are but the Tech told me older women do have some pain.

get it checked as soon as possible as your health is nothing to play around with

You’re so stupid go to the dam doctor and find out if you don’t want to go fine but stop putting bs on fb grow up

If I thought it was from my implant I would have it removed especially if it was moving around.

You have to confront this, for your kids. They deserve a mama. I’ve been in your position and as a RN, I knew I had to check it out now while whatever it was was still treatable. Mine turned out to not be cancer, something else. Please go see a doctor and get imaging done to clear your mind. The ER has to treat you, insurance or not. You cannot be turned away from the ER.

I’m sure a Planned Parenthood would help you with cost and steer you in the right direction. Also most hospitals have a financial aid form you can fill out once the bill comes in. I’d look into that in your area

Don’t ignore it. I had a small lump in my left breast and never got it checked until a year later. The lump started to hurt within that year. I didn’t have insurance so I put it off. Found a clinic and was sent for a biopsy and found out I had Stage 2 breast cancer. I was 31 at the time. There’s a lot of misconceptions that breast cancer doesn’t hurt. Well mine did. Had 6 months of chemo followed by a double mastectomy. It does run in my family and I am a BRCA-1 carrier too. Fast forward 8 years later and I’ve been cancer free. Get it checked! Don’t wait any longer.

Ive been having weird pains in my whole left side. And I think its related to the arm implant as well. Hope all goes well with you.

Your kids need thier mom get checked

Please please please never ignore these things. Some times you can have sore breasts, but if you consistently have pains and they are pretty bad, get checked. Better safe than sorry.

There are options available for free mammograms through your city or county health department. Do it for your kids if not for yourself. Obviously it bothers you since you took the time to write about it so give yourself the peace of mind of at least knowing what’s going on. Then you can make decisions if necessary from there. Your kids at least deserve a mom that has peace :two_hearts:

After 2 months of biopsies on both brests I go in on Tuesday for surgery. (Last surgery was 10 years ago, for the same thing). Just get it checked out to ease your mind. Chances are your overthinking its something minor and easly fixed. Good luck, hope you get yourself looked at.

It could be infection from the implant. Id get it looked at. Didn’t think those implants were supposed to move at all.

Honestly get insurence. If you have a child you automatically qualify for Medicare. I am soul provider for my son and i have my primary insurance which i pay for to cover both my son and myself and i have state insurance at no cost that covers everything else. I bring home about 2400$ a month. So if i can get it i know you can. Its a pain. Lots of paperwork every 6 month. But well worth the amount i save in medical. We pay taxes for a reason. Take advantage of what is offered.

I’ve had breast cancer. I had pain in my breast. At first, I thought it was from the underwire in my bra. Than I found a mass. I thought that was a blocked milk duct. I finally went in. I had stage 3 cancer. I had 2 lumps next to each other.

First of all, breathe. Now, there are lots of great options per the comments here. Follow up with what’s available in your area for uninsured patients. Kids and moving will still be there in between testing. Take one day at a time, but make that appointment.

Oh girl please get it checked out! Please!

Get your butt in the drs and get checked! I get the financial part, but what about your family friends, your kids? I’d fight to stay alive any day for my daughter. But to each their own. It’s better to know than not to know. How you want to handle it is up to you just consider the consequences everyone else will go through.

Hi! I am sorry you are going through this. I know it’s scary/overwhelming. First of all let me say that I have qualifications to give you the following advice. I went to college for Radiology and specialized in Mammography. I was the lead tech in a very busy Breast Center for ten years before “retiring” to homeschool my girls. I still keep my license current. With that said…

  1. Any changes in your breasts at all should be checked.
  2. Your “commitment to not getting treated” is an old, outdated way of thinking. Breast Cancer has one of the highest survival rates of any cancer! This is true because of early detection and treatment.
  3. Many hospitals/breast centers have grants to pay for mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, etc. At our center we did hundreds of those things each year for free!
  4. If you have it done at a hospital, most hospitals have financial assistance programs for people to use. When my husband lost his job a few years ago, we applied for it and they wrote 100% of our bill off!
  5. Please don’t get stuck in a mindset and stay there. Your kids need you and it would be so sad for you to just choose to do nothing when you could have done something and get to be here for all the big things they have yet to experience  I’m saying this out of love.
  6. In the mean time, there is an herbal supplement called Evening PrimRose Oil and it helps tremendously with hormonal breast pain. My OB/GYN recommended it to me many years ago for my intense breast pain and it worked wonders.

Evening primrose oil. Worked a charm for my hormonal breast pain. I suffered for a couple of months with pain and soreness but the evening primrose oil sorted it out within a week. Good luck!
