I keep sleeping through my alarm and my child is late

My biggest mom fail yet is I was too embarrassed for my child to have a ANOTHER TARDY because I overslept through my alarm again so I wrote a excuse he had a upset stomach for the day and let him stay out.

Set multiple alarms, away from you so you have to actually get up. Maybe even one of those sonic alarms even.

Set your alarm for an earlier time and let it go of again or a second time. If your child is old enough give him an alarm clock as well then he can wake you up

I have my phone set on multiple alarms starting at 530 am . Then I have a regular alarm clock set across the room

Sounds like you need to get an earlier bed time. And teaching him that it’s ok to lie smh.

How old is your child? Alarm for your child also might help.

I would put an alarm clock on the other side of the room. Also, put one in your child’s room so they can wake themselves up.

Alarm for child depending on age , set an alarm further away and a few of them forcing you to get out bed , set earlier so you can be away but the alarms going off back to back making it annoying till you get up

Put your phone in a place where you have to get up to turn it off.

Remember once you’re up, if you go back to sleep you’re actually MORE tired the second time then you would be if you get up.

Google it! It’s totally true.

Don’t torture yourself.

Side note: my kids have been late at least once a week all year……

No one is perfect & better late than not at all.

I have the same problem some. Changing the sound of my alarm every month or so helps. Or having an alarm that talk ms helps too.

Move your alarm across the room. Then you have to get up.

I feel it. My middle schoolers have to be at the bus stop at 5:30am :sob::rage: EVERYONE has an alarm clock in their room. It makes the chances of getting up on time better lol. I’m 7 months pregnant and sometimes I go into straight up hibernation at night lol. But I would definitely take the tardy over the absence. School just started back up, give yourself some grace and get on a good sleeping schedule!

I have an Alexa in my bedroom and in my daughter’s bedroom. I set alarms on both of them every 15 minutes for an hour and a half. I may not hear the first one or the second one but I’ll hear the third one and if my daughter isn’t already awake, I’ll call her Alexa and talk to her until she is awake.

Go to bed earlier and set a couple of alarms. Get an old fashioned alarm and set it on your dresser away from your bed that you can’t just silence. If you have a smart watch, set your alarms on your smart watch too.

Your child lis loosing out on their eduction. Get up! I am a teacher who deals with this. I do not blame the child . They are graded on the work and time.

I put couple alarms for me

We are human it happens I have done this before and just let my kid stay home bc tardies can actually make the student repeat that grade again, which is crazy

Set multiple alarms. You can also buy devices that can turn on the lights or vibrate the bed that might help.

Get a screaming meanie. It’s an alarm clock that so fucking loud. My dad’s a trucker he told me many use it cuz they are used to the loud noises from driving. But it’s scarey loud. But it works.

I use an alarm app that makes me have to do a puzzle to shut it off and it gets louder the longer it takes me to complete. The sounds are atrocious which makes it worse! But even my husband who could sleep thru ANYTHING wakes up to it.

There’s an app called alarmy that we use. And I get up to the first alarm every time or I’ll snooze them all and be late. Also I sleep my full 8 hours every single night or I won’t get up.

I set about 10 alarms:joy::see_no_evil:

Alarm in child’s room and on the opposite side of your room. Hopefully your child will hear it and come wake you.

Set multiple alarms starting an hour early if you have to.

Our schools around here said 3 tardys counted as 1 absent. I’m not sure if they still do this. Also 3 Times early pickup counted as an absent. If you had a Dr’s note you were excused.

This is your child’s education. Get up !

I set multiple alarms 3 minutes apart for this reason! And I set the snooze time to 2 minutes. Then I’m extra annoyed and have to get up.
Try setting an alarm somewhere that would force you to get out of bed to shut it off.

They make extra loud alarm clocks and alarm clocks that will shake and vibrate on your bed for deaf and hard of hearing ppl. That will work.

Put an old fashioned alarm somewhere in your room that you’ll have to get up to turn off. I set 2 alarms on my phone to wake myself up then the last alarm I have to get out of bed to turn off

I have about 25 alarms at 5 minute intervals before school. Gets me up even if I snooze a few, and the rest keep our timing proper as we get out of the house. In my 20s I struggled even more with this so had an app that asked math questions before the alarm would shut up. I can’t remember what it was called but it REALLY helped us

We are our children’s first teacher. You are teaching your child that being on time isn’t important, and if you can’t be on time to lie. You are setting a bad precedent that will affect your child’s entire future. Make sure that you are getting your child to bed at a decent hour and that you are too. No electronics 30 minutes before bed(that means you too) And try to get up before your child, not with them. When you both get up at the last minute, anything that goes wrong creates a disaster. Your child will really appreciate you :two_hearts:

Try to be the example for your kids. Maybe go to bed earlier?

As an adult you don’t get the option of a few more minutes or I’ll just lay here. Get a loud alarm clock and get up when it goes off. Try going to bed early so you have enough sleep. Adulting is hard but you can do it

I’ve slept through my alarms a few times and the latest my son ever was to school was about 5 minutes late and that was the first day too :woman_facepalming:t3: I set alarms on my watch to vibrate to wake me so it doesn’t wake my husband but I also set backup alarms on my phone that come out loud in case my watch doesn’t wake me then I have a couple of those ready for me. I have also set emergency alarms on my echo’s to help jolt me awake if I’ve needed. I’ve worked first shift for several years up until recently and I was pretty used to being up by 5am but now I stay home with my kiddos and it makes it more difficult to wake up to anything other than them. School is starting for my son is less than two weeks and I will have to get back on a schedule. I’m also due with my third baby in October and have a three year old so this will be fun too  Waking up sucks but you gotta remember who you are doing it for and motivate yourself

Atomic bomb alarm clock on Amazon. I used to do the same exact thing and have not overslept 1 times since getting it. I also take the vibration thing and put a metal bowl over it and it’s so loud.

It happens ur exhausted I’ve had that happen a few times I slept thru my alarm and it goes off twice uf u dont hut snooze or stop. I was so tired I didn’t hear them at all smh. The next thing I know im waking up and I knew it was to bright out smh. Try going to sleep earlier which I know can be hard because if ur a single mama when they go to sleep u tend to stay up for sum alone time lol but just try to lay and sleep and if u can turn up the volume as loud as it can go and set alarms on other stuff. The echo shows definitely helped me out alot too even set a timer on the TV for it to come on and have it loud maybe that will help too but definitely get u sum rest. U can not fill others cups from an empty one. Hope this helps. Also baby girl may hate it but put an alarm clock in her room too make sure she can’t turn it off so she will have no choice but to come wake u up

You do realize a child that has a good attendance in school - will do the same in college, trade school and in their career. Set various types of alarms around the 2 hours (1- 15 minutes prior before you got to get out of bed , 2 at the time you need to get up and the last one 1 - 15 minutes after 2hr mark “the oh sh!t” I’m late one )before you have to walk out the door - this way you can set the tone for your child’s day. Responsibility, Accountability, trust, compassion and love are all lesson learned by the parent’s behavior. :v:t4::heart:

I have to have my husband wake me up when he gets ups at 5am and I just use that hour to be productive and start lunches or scroll  but I have 3 alarms set on my son’s alarm clock and he usually wakes up to the last one just in case I don’t actually get up when my husband leaves

You need to set multiple alarms and go to sleep earlier. If he keeps being late or misses too much school you’ll end up in trouble.

I set multiple alarms til I got in the habit of

I personally don’t understand being late. I’m 68 and have never been late for anything. Always at least 30 minutes early. Always awake before my alarm went off. Still up at 5 everyday. With that being said maybe you need a louder alarm. The phone alarm or radio alarm probably not loud enough. You need to figure it out. This is irresponsible on.your part.

Maybe get some labs and check your iron levels im extra sleepy when thats low

Put your alarm on the other side of the room. A loud one! That way you have to get up to shut it off… that’s how I broke myself from that.

I had to download an app that has louder alarms! Because I had the same issue! The louder alarms helped also not having my fan or tv on

My phone is my alarm and I have that roght next to my head . I have 3 alarms. 15 mins apart alarm 3 means I have to hurry.

If child is 5 plus alarm clock for their room as well . If you got a early morning friend you can ask them to call you in the am ( I do that to my friend once n a while if I haven’t got a text in the am means she slept past alarms haha)

Lol my kids are always late school is just school. My kids are only going cause it’s compulsory and teaching them life skills is frowned upon

Sometimes - its ok - but we are held accountable momma regardless if they are late or tardy because we r the parent … kind of selfish though I look at it because if anything if he is missing it should be cuz they allowed to have a break 1x or 2x out of the yr

Get an alarm clock that has a bed shaker!

Here’s an example from target for only $20

Get an actual alarm clock that’s loud and put it in your room where you have to actually get out of bed to turn it off. Works wonders cause I have the habit of turning off my alarm and dozing back off lol

I do not understand how many people have to said multiple arms to get up to get your kids ready for school. How do y’all get to work on the daily or just function to be places on time?

Maybe change the melody that plays, that’s what I had to do, I also set like 3 alarms before the last one

They use to have an alarm you could buy at truck stops it was small but the loudest dang alarm I’ve ever heard in my life. The first time it went off I about had a heart attack.

Screaming meanie- truck driver alarm ( it is so loud and nearly impossible to sleep through) my boyfriend had to use one for the longest time

It’s better to take the kid tardy than to write a parent note.

Download ALARMY ! It’s the best hands down and won’t shut up till your up !

I have 10 morning alarms. The first is an hour before the kids need up, for me to have that time to wake up before getting them up. It’s the only way I have a decent morning.

Go to bed on time so ya’ll get plenty of rest, that will help.

Go to bed earlier. And place the alarm away from arms reach so you have to get up and make them less intervals between alarm times

I set alarms every 5 minutes, and turn the volume all the way up. They actually have alarm clocks that vibrate (put it on glass) it will wake you up!

Look up screaming meanie not s… you will not sleep thru it. It’s SUPER loud and annoying until you turn it off lol

Or yes put alarm in child’s room and set multiple for yourself.

be careful. I got my child a truancy because of too many days that I didn’t want to drive them to school.

Amazon sells vibrating alarm clocks. I bought one for my son and it works great! Put the vibration unit in a bowl or something so it will stay put and be loud. It doesn’t work great under the pillow.

I’ve found the only thing that wakes me up other than someone vigorously shaking me is to have a coffee pot with a timer. For some reason smelling coffee wakes me up.

If you have an android and a music streaming service such as Pandora or spotifycan be free you can set your alarm to play your favorite music. Perfect way to wake up for me!

Get a real alarm clock and not just a phone alarm. Put it out of reach so you have to get up to turn it off

I have my alarm sound set as a song I HATE and put my phone out of reach.

I have multiple alarms set and they are at high volume.

Better late than never! I was always on time with the older kids. Was quite proud of myself for it, too. Shook my head at those terrible tardy parents… buuuut then I got old  In recent months I’ve well and truely slept past the time it takes me to get everyone up, dressed, and out the door on time. I mean, most days we get there on time, and we still strive to be there on time. We haven’t just given up altogether  my older one that is still at home and in school, wouldn’t allow it anyway. She loves being there on time. But on the odd occasion where we are late, better late than never is my motto. Its better to miss a few minutes of class than miss the whole day just to save a little face. I’d rather wear that bit of embarrassment and judgement than be responsible for the child missing full days of learning opportunity for no real reason. I find it gets harder as the terms progress too. I just get worn out. But I refuse to beat myself up about it. They’re there. They’re at school. They might have missed some early morning social interaction or a run down on the days activities, but they didn’t miss the activity! Cheering

I have to put my phone on my night stand on the other side of the bed so I have to physically get up and get it or snooze  and have it on the loudest setting lol

Get a screaming meanie alarm. You will not be able to sleep through it.

I use 2 phones to set my alarms. I also set my alarms for every 15 minutes from 5-645!!! :joy:

I don’t use alarms :scream: i just wake up periodically. If it’s between 5 and 6 I get up so I can get some extra set up accomplished, if it’s after the sun will get me up. Lol I wasn’t always this way and idk where it came from.

I would never do that!! I’d be too afraid something bad would actually happen. I wouldn’t even say something happened to my car.

My alarm is the Super Saiyan power up. My husband heard it this morning and jumped out of bed. I will never sleep through it

Try changing the sound of the alarm,we get use to the same sound
