Not mom related but I need college advice. I start online college for medical billing and coding Wednesday. I want to withdraw and apply for a welding program through a community college instead. I already applied for fasfa (got $7k) and I’m taking out a loan. If I withdraw from online college right now do I owe the loan???
It would depend on the school. Normally they give you one to two weeks to drop classes or programs with no penalty or a small fee. I would contact the school as soon as possible than that way if they got the grace period
Financial aid no, the loan yes. This is why we always tell our kids make sure you sign up for the classes you want, because once that loan is cosigned, it’s a done deal.
Have you posted attendance in the class? If you haven’t, they cannot disburse the loan.
If you signed for the loan, even if it was co-signed by someone…all parties are responsible for it!
We have co-signed loans for our kids through Salle Mae…for 4 years…
I left a court reporting program to become a carpenter in 2011 and I’m still paying off a $5,000 loan so I would say yes you will owe it
