I removed my c-section bandage...advice?

I was told by my nurse I could remove my c section bandage after 7 days but I removed it after 6 days and there is still a small amount of bleeding. Yes I am aware I should have waited until tomorrow but the tape was already peeling all over the place and the pad thing was coming up on one side. Its not gushing, just kind of looks like a little paper cut. Is that an ER visit or should I just cover it back up? Please don’t judge me for the question, I’m really freaking out.

I just taped a pad over mine

Probably not ER worthy but not a bad idea to call your OB.

As long as there’s no infection you are good. You can put a bandaid on it to avoid any infections.

As long as there is no redness or sign of infection you’re fine.

Clean it with non-scented soap and water and cover it back up, it’s totally normal to still have a little bleeding no need to rush to the ER. As long as it’s not super red, hot, or oozing like it’s infected you’re fine. :mending_heart:

I stopped fully covering mine in 4 days cause all the tape had came off during showers. I just took a menstrual pad and stuck it to my underwear where it’d lay against the incision to collect any yuck that came out of it for the remainder of the time until there was absolutely nothing on it when I’d check it. I just called my ob to ask what to do and that was their advice.

Call your doctor and ask. FB is full of misinformation.

Really? The doctors never covered mine. They just did sterile strips for three days

Make sure it stays dry, try to let it breathe. With all 3 of mine I had a little bleeding. I just kept it clean, dry, and found that just wearing a bra helped keep it from getting irritated. Like a few have said, redness/swelling call ob. They will be able to get you in or tell you if it’s an er visit.
Never feel bad for asking, it’s better to ask for help then to do something wrong.

Why are you asking total strangers for medical advice? You should call your doctor. Not being nasty, but, some people will give you advice about nothing they know about. Scary world we live in.

I would call to discuss the matter either with your OB or the triage for the hospital you stayed at. My hospital triage for L&D assisted with questions and concerns for the first few months post delivery. I have no other advice as mine was no longer covered once I left the hospital and I just managed care like any other wound.

Girl call your OB and let them know what happened. Don’t take advice from Facebook because everyone has different experiences

Use antibacterial soap and make sure you’re airing it out completely, several times a day. I made the the mistake of not airing it out and it was starting to get red.

You should be fine if it bleeds bleeds then id go in! I don’t exactly remember when I took mine off but it definitely looked like dried blood it’s gonna look funny because you were cut open 7 layers deep!
Take it super easy don’t ever do yourself if you feel the need to go in just to be safe then go girl!

I was in the bath when I took mine off as I couldn’t get it off without it being painful, I had an appointment to see my midwife to check after seven days, maybe get an appointment for a check up

Keep it clean Pat dry with a soft cloth Dry with a cool hairdryer to avoid infection That’s what I done Had no prob Good luck

Unless your incision is red and looks like it will start oozing your ok. Clean it several times a day. Pat dry completely. May cover with a pad but air it out several times a day. No ER visit unless your incision opens up. ER is for serious issues like close to death or accident issues. But you can always call your OB and ask questions

Call your nurse they will tell you what to do.

Bandage? Never had a bandage. The even pulled out the staples before I went home. Left with just glue. I’ll be fine girl

I took mine off early too cause the glue was driving me INSANE with itchiness. I had a tiny little area open but it was no big deal at all! It healed on its own, I just kept an eye on it.

U need to call your Obgyn

You can always call your doctor and ask but it’s probably fine

Cover it back up for a day. If only slightly bleeding should be ok but if red draining yellowish liquid and have a fever then call surgeon

Normal after my 3rd csection I wasn’t even given a bandaid and mine turned out good I use a pad across the incision for the first few days

try to let it breathe a little, oxygen helps healing greatly, but when you might be up on your feet moving around or sleeping maybe cover it with a thin layer of gauze and medical tape. you should be good for a day or two.

You should be fine. Just watch for any opening of the wound and make sure it isn’t red, hot or draining fluid. You will have some drainage and that’s normal. As some others have suggested, you can use a pad in your underwear to catch any drainage that comes out.

I took it off later that day it annoyed the fuck out of me. Just keep the wound clean and dry.

Just cover until your appointment. Do not touch too much or get wet. If it’s not open it’s fine especially if there is no swelling, warm to the touch ( you would feel the warmth without touching), gushing, puss, and/ or PAIN. Bold Because PAIN is a big indicator of infection!

You should’ve called your OB.

Get some butterfly bandaids and put a couple on the spot if your really worried just clean it first

Clean it with some disinfectant spray on come cotton! Then let it air out first a good bit! Ull be fine if it’s not really red or inflamed

Call your doc and ask them. Better safe than sorry

It’ll be fine. Mine did the same thing with both csections. I removed it during the shower on the 6th day approximately because it was also coming off on its own. Just make sure to keep the area clean and dry, DON’T scratch! And try not to strain yourself where you’re putting a lot of effort in your core, that’s the biggest thing. You’ll do well.
