Kinda frustrated with my OB and wanted thoughts and opinions… I had Cholestasis my last pregnancy and I started to get a little itchy with this pregnancy so they did labs everything was normal I seen my OB today and she told me she’s diagnosing me with it even though I don’t have it just because I had it with my last pregnancy. Then at my last appointment they wanted me to schedule a C-Section because he was still breech at 31 weeks (I’ve never had to have a c section and I’ve had 2 other kids) and today they were pressing induction on me because they diagnosed me with the Cholestasis even though my labs said I don’t have it. I told them I want to go natural this time since I don’t actually have Cholestasis and I want to avoid induction or csection unless absolutely necessary then they told me they won’t allow me to go passed 38 weeks. They also told me to get an ECV because I’m a good candidate and they would just induce me while I was there after I had just refused it because of the risks and I will only be 33 weeks tomorrow. Is this okay for them to be doing?
My opinion and it’s just that, mine. I have zero medical background. It’s your body. Lots of doctors seem to be pushing for c-section or induction and I’m not sure why. You are still the one in charge and don’t forget that.
Truthfully, you are the patient. You set the guidelines. If you don’t want it, stick to your guns. Next appt, have someone with you to advocate for you. Sternly.
Ask for new labs. If still negative, decline anything but natural. Then, find a soul a who can help you turn the munchkin. It’s possible.
Your body, your choice.
I’m not a doctor so I can’t speak to any of the medical aspects relating to your situation. But perhaps it’s worth talking to them again and being quite frank in telling them that you’re feeling really pressured in all of this with no control over yourself or your birthing plans and really need to discuss this all further before committing to their plan.
Why would they want to induce you even though they said he was breech and wanted to do a c-section? This isn’t making sense. And why would they want to do it early?
