If you could take a family vacation anyewhere in the US…where would you go? Trying to plan for one this summer and am stuck on a location.
Depends where you are and what you like and how old your kids are. The Outer Banks, NC, Bethany, Rehoboth and Fenwick Island, DE are great mid-Atlantic East Coast family beach destinations in summer that kids of all ages can enjoy without all the teenage hooligans.
There are skiing destinations in various U.S. locations that can accommodate people of various ages. Great Wolf Lodges make a quick getaway. Our National Parks are real treasures. Disney World/Land are ridiculously expensive but can be awesome. Hawaii is beautiful and fun everywhere.
Cruises can offer fun for everyone too. Cities with museums, zoos, aquariums, historic sites, culture and entertainment can be found in most areas of the U.S. Chicago, Washington, D.C., San Diego, etc.
I think the Netherlands would be a fun overseas destination—bicycling, windmills, canal tours, flowers, cathedrals, amazing public art, the cube houses, cheese, beer for the adults, and most everyone speaks English.
The Southwest—Bandelier National Monument in NM has cave dwellings and ground structures to explore, hiking trails and history. Taos and Santa Fe are fun too with arts, crafts, cool architecture, street music, chapels, history, great SW food, etc.
My family stayed at a dude ranch in the Hill Country of Texas, and that was a blast. San Antonio, TX is beautiful with the Riverwalk, Schlitterbahn water parks, the Alamo and great restaurants, but it can be beastly hot in summer.
