Have his blood sugar tested immediately. My son is type 1 diabetic and this sounds like how he was b4 diagnosis

Honestly if you can’t get an appt this week please bring him to the hospital

I worked with a student like that. He had been diagnosed with Prader Willi Syndrome. Go to his pediatrician.

You’re doing a great job of offering healthy foods it sounds like. Hopefully the doctor will help you get it sorted out! It’s possible it’s just a growth spurt but if your momma intuition feels like some is off, it never hurts to get him checked out

Is he overweight? Is he really active? Could be just a normal growth spurt . See what your doctor says and go from there , I’m sure he’s fine . Good luck and let us know how you go

Those are symptoms of type 1 diabetes. Get him to the dr.

My youngest is 28 NOW… He ate constantly… He know stand 6’3… 280. Pounds… He no fat he’s a big boy… Fast forward my grandson ( his son ) same way …eat…eat…eat he is bigger than what his daddy was at his age…hes 5 ! The doctors told me as long as he is active he would be ok !! But good grief 6’3 :joy:

Mine just turned 4 and same thing we give him lots of fruits to snack on apples grapes bananas and then pretzels or popcorn as a snack we spent 2 years worried he wasn’t eating enough having to use pediasure I don’t intend to deny him food but I try to make it healthy portions and snacks

Mother to mother that sounds like a lot off food…I would call your pediatrician ASAP in the morning. Fast him tonight, water only that way they can run labs on him

I’d get him checked out, that is pretty excessive for that age. Its hard for sure, but a kids happy meal is actually an adult serving
It really could be diabetes or a different issue
Best wishes!

Its also not about how much they eat but what they eat. My son was like this and over weight hes 10 now and has lost a lot of weight and eats normal when he eats more now I know its a growths spurt. If youre concerned then yes take him to the Dr. The hospital like er is for emergencys if its not one I wouldn’t unless youre super anxious and it will ease your mind

Get him checked for diabetes asap

Check for worms. Pinworm, round worms etc

take him to the doctor and you will find out i am sure

I would have him checked by his doctor, but my son went through stages like this too. He’s 14 now and 6’3" and still eats like there’s never going to be another meal in front of him. But he’s very active, plays multiple sports and works out daily. Some kids just have a very high metabolism!

Just to be safe I would talk to his pediatrician
It could be just a normal thing for him or it could be signs of an underlying health issue

Those are all healthy foods. That’s good. If he’s eating that much and not overweight, I wouldn’t worry. My scrawny boy would eat adult portions at times & also eat constantly, and yep usually with a growth spurt. If he seems overweight that’s another story & more cause for concern.

Same here. My son was thin in January, and now is chubby. Turned 5 and just wants to eat. I talked to his Dr, they ran blood, all is great. He’s not hungry, he’s bored. Its quarantine.

My 4 year old has diabetes and when he was diagnosed at ages 1 he was eating loads but lost loads of weight also so maybe best to get him checked out

My son was like this recently, eating ALL THE TIME. It’s a boy thing for sure and especially with growth spurts. He went from 3t to 4t in a month!

All 4 of my kiddos go through periods of time like this. Theres some days one of my 5 yr old twins can out eat his daddy! Hes perfectly healthy! He actually is almost 6 inches taller than his twin. My oldest is 7 and is almost 5ft tall. They all eat and get chunkier then grow outta now where and thin back out. However if your momma gut is telling you to worry…when in doubt get checked out!

My son was the exact same way right before was diagnosed as a diabetic. I’d get him checked ASAP

That’s just a classic little kid going through a growth spurt if he’s hungry and you don’t wanna give him a whole lot just give him some kind of juice and something small like string cheese or something🤷🏻‍♀️ When I was nannying I had a two year old boy under my care that was exactly like this

RN here…extreme hunger and thirst are signs of diabetes. Take him and and get his blood sugar checked. This will sound weird but smell his urine and see if it has a sweet smell to it. That’s also indicative of high blood sugar. Good luck momma

happened to my granddaughter type 1 diabetic. please go to ER now.

I would take him to the Dr. The excessive thirst could be diabetes. I’d also have him checked for worms.

That’s a lot of food. If he’s immediately asking for a snack after eating all of that. You have to tell him no. Kids will eat all day if you let them. That then leads to unhealthy eating habits. We have the opposite problem over here. You should take him to the Dr. That’s a sign of diabetes

My son does that. I flat out told his dr that he either had diabetes or had a tape worm. Negative for both. However, they’re guessing he’s going to be about 6+ ft tall. Once i was told that, i asked for a prescription for a ladder.

But, make an appointment. Hopefully it’ll be good news like it was for my son.

Constantly hungry and thirsty…take him to the doctors. Something is off!

I would consult his physician.

I’d definitely consult his doctor but it may just be a growth spurt no use worrying until you know something is wrong

So my oldest loves to eat. But i cut it down. She gets a big breakfast. A snack then a decent lunch not big not small either. Then she gets a snack again. Then a big dinner. Unless i plan on there being dessert.

I wish my daughter would eat like this she’s 3 and constantly not wanting to eat, hope you can figure out what is going on though goodluck

Get him checked for diabetes. That’s a lot, even for a growth spurt at that age. Rather be safe than sorry.

Ok so I know this will sound weird but does he have runny almost diarrhea consistancy poop? Both my kids boy and girl are like this and come to find out after multiple tests my son is frutose intolerant and because of this he was pooping out the food as fast as he consumed it. My daughter hasn’t been diagnosed because with covid the specialist isn’t taking new patients but all signs point to the same for her. Short answer take him to the dr. The diet my kids are on is called the fodmap diet.

Have a Dr check his thyroid ASAP!

Could be a growth spurt but I would see if he’s confusing thirst with hunger and if that not it maybe check in with his doc.

Sounds like diabetes :disappointed:

Shoot my husband and I will eat 6 jumbo biscuits,4 servings of eggs, etc. It takes alot to feed us because we make sure to get full for the night. were not only fed,we get full. Meaning we eat more than 2 plates each so can stay full. Fed is just being able to eat but getting and staying full is different and we make sure to stay full and not just fed. It takes alot for us and our family to stay full so we always cook alot anyway. We’re having sloppy Joe’s and tator tots and he will eat atleaar 4 or 5 sandwiches and ill eat atleast 3 or 4 and his mom will eat 2 so we eat what it takes to keep us full and not just fed.

My 4 year old is exactly the same… constantly saying he’s hungry even though he’s eaten loads all day… always thirsty too… now after reading the comments I’m worried I’ve missed that this could be diabetes… :weary:

I’d control what he eats now so he doesn’t grow up to be fat

I’d not worry about the food, mine ate me out of house and home at times…!! If he’s constantly drinking tho, I’d have him tested for Type 1 Diabetes, that’s a symptom of high blood sugar. I’m not meaning to worry you unnecessarily, there cd be nowt at all wrong here. My son is a T1 and went thru this, just before diagnosis and beyond. Love and luck… Xxx

I’m so glad I read this post and comments. I would’ve thought growth spurt too. But glad I now know this could be warning signs of type 1 diabetes. :flushed:
Having said that-
I really hope your baby is ok. But it’s great that you were catching on and had your own concerns. Everything will be fine since you’re already on top of it! :purple_heart:

And in a month will not eat or be very picky :expressionless: I wouldn’t worry to much probably a growth spurt and honestly that isn’t alot of food for a growing kid . My daughter is 11 and has a high metabolism and eats every hour

My son is about to turn 6 and he is “always hungry” might be a boy thing or the growth spurt. My nephew is the same way and hes 13. Is your child average weight? If he is i wouldnt worry about it. But a doctors appointment to sooth your mind isnt a bad idea. Hope everything works out.

Definitely get checked for type 1 diabetes.

They say when your constantly hungry your probably actually only thirsty so the more he asks for food try giving juice or water a lot more to help fill him up. Also check with the doctor for thread worms or look in his poo I know tmi🙈 but you would see them there little and white this can make you extremely hungry. Xx

I would have him tested for diabetes. That is a lot of food for a little guy

my first thought is getting him checked for diabetes

He may have a tapeworm thats eating that food

Diabetes or Thyroid issues

Sounds like type 1 diabetes that what my doctor had at 11 years old. I would have them checked for that

Take him to see dr.its not good somethins wrong there

Theres is nothing too much in his diet, let him have his food.

My boys do this and then go through a spell where they eat very little. I would look into it if you’re concerned though

Sounds like diabetes or thyroid. Definitely take him in to see doctor. Or could be he is going through a growth spurt.

Diabetic …go to the drs immediately.

Ah crap I dont know the medical term but there is a condition that someone is always hungry, check diabetes too, if your son doesn’t have that then check his eating with a nutritionist, maybe he needs more carbs or proteins or fibers that satisfies him. I make low carb anything myself for me and my 24 year old son, we tend to snack to often and this satisfies us more.

The constant thirst is a sign of diabetes

Google Prader-willi syndrome just a suggestion

After I dewormed by son his eating normalized.

My son (18 now) was like this around 2, Would say he was hungry constantly even though he was eating a lot. if he didn’t eat practically every 2 hours he would cry he was starving and go pale and shakey, GP said he was fine (even tested for diabetes) and after about 6 months it just stopped .

Please check for possible cystic fibrosis, eating like that was one of the symptoms when my daughter was diagnosed at 6yrs. Old! She is almost 34 yrs old now. She has both respiratory & intestinal CF.
