Is heavy bleeding for a few hours normal?

I am 6 weeks pregnant. I had a pelvic exam done due to an infection and not long after that started bleeding heavy. The bleeding only lasted a few hours. And there were some cramps along with that. I went to the emergency room and they had said that they did not know if it was a miscarriage or not they said my hcg levels were still normal but said they couldn't find anything on the ultrasound. Could it be too early to find on the ultrasound at 6 weeks? This is my second pregnancy and this didn't happen with my first. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if everything was fine.

If you had an infection and a pelvic exam it may be normal! I’ll
Pray for you!

Six weeks could definitely be to early to see anything. I’ve always been told bleeding and cramping after exams are normal. Idk your pain tolerance or what you felt but if it continues call your doctor and ask for a repeat hcg blood draw.

I had two miscarriages and with both there was a noticeable decrease in symptoms (I had more energy, less nausea, and my boobs weren’t as tender) before I ever started bleeding.

Try to stay calm. Kick your feet up and don’t do anything crazy strenuous.

It can very hard to see baby on ultrasound at 6 weeks.
Give your OB a call on Monday to see what they want/need you to do.
More than likely they’ll have you go for another ultrasound around 8 weeks.

This exact thing happened to me. I was about 6 weeks and started bleeding heavy with cramps. I went to the hospital and they said possible miscarriage and couldn’t find anything on the ultrasound. Turns out it was a subchorionic hematoma. My daughter is now a year and 3 months.

Same. So my dr did HCG levels every 24 hours for 8 days. 4x’s… unfortunate I list baby but I was further along at 11 weeks

I would tell your OB. And have them test your levels over a few days. That’s what they did for me

They say light bleeding and cramping is normal after pelvic exam if it was heavy I’d go to either ob or er and just have them do blood work and check hgc lvls and listen for heart beat of baby prayers for you it’s probably nothing but I’d go get checked just to be sure

That’s not normal  I was able to see the baby & heartbeat a few days ago (at 6 weeks) heavy bleeding is never “normal” You need another ultrasound in a day or 2 & your HCG levels checked. I hope I’m wrong, Goodluck

I would reach out to your OB at the ER that’s not their specialty

At 6 weeks you should have been able to see at least a yolk sack. Call your OB… they know better than an ER.

I’ve had exactly the same issue, celebrated my daughter’s 26th birthday yesterday. For peace of mind go and get checked out again in about a week.

If you had an early pregnancy ultrasound via you vagina they should’ve been able to see something. It’s too early to see things via regular ultrasound. Hope it works out okay x

The bleeding happened to me but not the infection. I ended up loosing my twin pregnancy last week.

It can be, yes. Follow up with your OB and try not to stress too much. (Easier said than done)

I Wasn’t able to see my baby until 8 weeks… Went to the ER multiple times… They thought it was an ectopic prsgnancy … Just Keep checking your Hormone levels! I Just Had my Perfect Healthy baby Girl 5 days ago  Good Luck!

I would make an appointment with your obgyn ASAP. I had the same issue with my first pregnancy but I was at 17 weeks.
