Is it normal to still feel sore one week post partum?

Hi, I’m One week postpartum, and I had a vagina delivery and had a second-degree tear I was wondering if it’s normal to still feel soreness down there and soreness around the pelvic area. This was my second pregnancy with the first I had a third-degree tear, but I don’t remember feeling this sore like I did last time.

You probably tore scar tissue. Which makes it hurt worse and hurt longer.

Yes, I had the worst episiotomy. I took my pain meds for two weeks. And then used Advil and Tylenol for pain. Sitz baths and laying spread eagle in a hot tub of water really helped me.

Months to a year recovery. Doctors will say weeks but every woman is different. Dont push yourself and recover.

No why would that be normal, healing happens instantly

Hell yes … took me weeks to recover

Yes! It took me MONTHS to not feel sore and nearly a year to feel ‘normal’ after one of my births. A week in I was still sitting on a donut and using ice packs daily.

Yes! I felt like I got hit by a tractor trailer for like 2 weeks after my 3rd :rofl:

Yes. Totally normal. Just make sure you’re cleaning it how they told you.

100% normal. With my first he was big and gave me a 2nd degree tear and I was sore for about 8 weeks aftwr

Oh god yes! I was on pain killers for a few weeks afterwards. Will probably be worse because you’ve re torn what you tore the first time!

Um I’d be more concerned if you weren’t sore lol. Totally normal

They say takes 10 to 14 days for the wounds to heal. But complete healing a feeling normal took longer for me. I’d only be worried if its there after 6 weeks period

It can be normal but if you feel extreme pain or that something isn’t right check with your dr to make sure you don’t have a hematoma or something.

It’s very normal to be sore for quite a while. Every pregnancy is different. Sometimes there’s almost no soreness, sometimes it last for a long time.

Yes it’s normal , and it’s a vaginal delivery lol

First two weeks were absolute hell. Make sure you’re cleaning consistently. Literally one day it was like flip of a switch where I felt significantly better.

I actually didn’t start feeling really sore until 7-10 days after! That’s when it hurt to sit for long periods and stuff for me

Totally normal! My first pregnancy I had second degree tear and I was sore for weeks!

With my first I was wondering why so many women said it was so sore after but with my second I had to very careful how I sat or I’d jump back up in pain I tore with both every time is different I’d say it’s normal but check with your doc if you’re worried

:100: normal! Ur older, ur body is different and it’s only been a week after the trauma of labor and delivery (not to mention the 10 months of changes and rather abrupt changes in the last week etc)

I took 4 years to heal properly after my second… My tear was the same type but I had already had scar tissue from my first pregnancy. Take it easy and if you can take extra time to heal… I had to go back to work at four weeks and I wish I had let myself rest more!! Hope you feel better soon

Normal. I was sore down there for 2-3 weeks, almost like I’d been kicked right in the groin. Felt like a deep bruise. You can get thin little ice packs and place them in your pants or undies and it helps! A little. Just takes time

The more u have the more pain after

Girl i swear my 2nd degree tear HURT WORSE than my 3rd degree tear. im 7wks Pp now and still a lil sore some days…

Recovering from my second (no stitches) was way worse than my first (stitches). You’re older and more beat up :expressionless::frowning:.

I was sore for a couple weeks after I had my baby but the more I moved around the better it got and its worse when you use stairs they tell you not too but it’s hard for people who’s bedroom is upstairs

I had a 2nd degree tear too and was sore for about 3 weeks. Could barely walk unaided for a week. Hope you get relief soon x

I was sore for like 2 months

I had more pain with my 3rd one than the first 2. My dr said it’s normal to be in more pain after each delivery

There’s a reason why the doctor tells you to have a 6 week rest/recovery! Your body needs time to heal… completely normal!

YES!!! Completely normal

OMG for the love of God… Yes!! I didn’t feel normal for a long time, months after baby big head #2 tried to tear me a new one! And now that I think of it… She’s 5 years 7 months and I still don’t feel normal…

Girl, it took me till week 5 to feel normal.
I sat down too fast on week 3 and hurt myself :disappointed:
It is SO normal to not be healed completely especially if you had a tear.
I only tore from the inside and that was enough to be in pain for 5 weeks.

:smirk:that is why the heat lamp treatments was a comfort to new mums in the “60’s:blush:

3 babies, 3 vaginal, 0 tears and each baby was smaller than the last and after 5 weeks, still feeling it with the last. Its also about your hips and pelvis. Rest Momma, you just did an amazing thing with your body.

Yep, it can even last 4-8 weeks

Totally normal. Baby #1 was rough. Baby #2 was easier but still sore for several weeks. Heating pad, ice packs, and dermaplast were my best friends

If you wanna see something scary. Flash a mirror down there. I had zero tearing… But it looked like a donkey kicked my hoohah for weeks.

Yeah that takes weeks to go away. Put frozen pads in your panties. It’ll help with the inflammation.

Of course its going to be sore. You pushed a baby out of your body! It needs time to heal. Ice packs are a life saver. I had a 2nd degree tear during my delivery, and had to do things slowly…like sitting. Dont rush your body.

OMG Yes! I think I walked around bow-legged (on purpose) for at least a month! It was uncomfortable to have a bowel movement for equally as long. That tear is in an incredibly tender spot, plus you stretch everything down there like suran wrap over a bowling ball! Give your body all the time it needs!
And let it be known, though may find it painful to “do the deed” for a couple months. Yes, months! When you finally heal, your tear will result in scar tissue… it can cause discomfort.
I had a tiny baby (6 lbs. 4oz) with a massive head. Freddie Kruger tore me up!

I didn’t feel better down there for at least 8 weeks after my 1st vaginal birth. Even after that I would still get sore sitting on hard chairs or surfaces.

I was sore for over 3 months after.

Oh yes, definitely normal. I was sore for at least a month after all of ours, might have been a little longer. And I only had tearing with my first.

Girl you pushed a living human out of you of course it’s normal. All post deliveries are different. I tore, but it didn’t hurt afterwards it was the gallbladder surgery 11 days after that killed me lol

I was 10 times more sore with my 2nd vaginal delivery that I was my 1st. With my 1st, was sore maybe for a 1 or 2. With my 2nd, I was sore for 5 weeks

Is it normal not to?

Yes, normal to still feel sore. And when you start to feel better, still give yourself a little time so you don’t over do anything too strenuous and set yourself back.
You can always call your dr’s office and talk to them if there is anything specifically you need more information on.

I took 7 weeks to completely heal an not be swore.
