Is plan B effective?

Was I wondering about people’s experience with the plan b pill? If Was it effective or not?

It is. But there is always that chance that it may not work.

How would you know unless it wasn’t effective  :woman_shrugging: cuz you have to take it before it shows up positive on a pregnancy test.

I believe Plan B only works if your under 200 lb and if you take it 72 hours after sex anytime after that it won’t work.
Don’t quote me on this but I’m just saying I believe this is what it is

I’ve seen somewhere that if a woman is overweight, it isn’t as effective. I used once and it worked, I didn’t get pregnant.

Plan B works to prevent your body from ovulating…so if you are ovulating it’s literally useless. I have a 6 week old baby as proof of this :joy:

My last son was conceived while on birth control and I took plan b :woman_shrugging:t4::joy:

It works. I’ve taken it multiple times over the years. There’s a 72 hour window that you have to take it after sex. But it works. You can even get the cheaper version (that’s what I did every time) and it works the same.

It’s most effective if your 175 or less. And it only works if you haven’t ovulated yet.

Women over 164 lbs should take the emergency contraceptive called “Ella” because it’s more effective due to the weight guidelines. “Plan B” is effective for women under 164 lbs. In a pinch and unable to access Ella during the 72 hour window, a physician [in Pennsylvania] advised that 2 Plan B pills can be taken for women over 164 lbs.

Not for my cousin, she ended up having twins.

I am about 230lbs. Did NOT work for me. Lol.

Depends on your actual situation. Your weight, how long after sex that you took it, were you ovulating or close to it?

Plan B stops the egg from being released. It has to be taken within 48-72 hours and if you are already pregnant, it does not act as an abortion pill.

It literally like overdosing your body on birth control to stop the egg from releasing.

Go see a doctor or a women’s health clinic and try getting a script for mifegymiso instead.

Yes it works but it will mess up your cycle for months so be prepared for that!

So here’s the think about 175 is when it’s less effective and you should take 2

From what I’ve read when helping others:
Not if you’re overweight
Not when taken after 72 hours.

Edit to add: The sooner the better.

Nope it didn’t work for me, so I had to have an abortion.

I have a few friends who all have plan b babies.

It is effective if you take it as directed and within the time period that is suggested but if a pregnancy already happened it will not damage the pregnancy. Take it as soon as possible after unprotected sex.

As far as I know it works

I’m overweight, have taken one pill within the 72 hour time frame and it has worked multiple times in my lifetime. But it does mess with your body so don’t take it often, just in emergencies.

I only took it once, didn’t get pregnant, so there’s that

If you’re over 155 pounds it’s less effective

It worked for me. But it messed with my mental and emotional state of mind. Gave me pms really really bad. It was a horrible experience for me. Now I’m fixed so I won’t ever have to use it again.

It has worked, but It didn’t work for me the last time and now I have a 1 yr old. I’m not overweight

It worked for me when I was younger. I used it twice before getting in birth control.

I took a plan b… had my baby boy in January lol

It works if taken correctly and at the right time. If you are already ovulating at the time of intercourse then it safe to assume it wouldn’t work since it stops you from ovulating. I’ve seen friends take it and it work, I also have some that have children.

I took it twice first time I had a miscarriage and second time it worked
