Congratulations! This is very exciting. My step father told me that having my children was a mistake, but funny how they want to come see the “mistakes” every chance they get. Sometimes children can change people for the better. Parents can suck as parents and be wonderful grandparents. My mom says her parents were horrible, but they were wonderful for me. My mom and step dad suck, but they aren’t nearly as bad with my kids. Do what is best for you and your family though. It is perfectly fine to set boundaries and stick by them. Sometimes we have to choose to love people from a distance and that is okay, too. Best wishes to you!

I love grandbaby’s and feel sorry for your mom but I’m sure she got herself in this situation. Enjoy your baby and make that your new family. Sometimes family are people you choose not who you are born to. Took me a long time to figure that out.

Congratulations! My advice is to use all the support you get. Something about babies make people come around. ( Not that you should trust just anyone). I know it hurts when people aren’t accepting or there. But the best benefit you can get from it is knowing where/who you can depend on.
There’s a lot of people who like to judge situations, without being a part of them. I like Dr. Phil’s motto of " Are you gonna be part of the solution, or part of the problem?" I have a particularly disfunctioning part of my family, and I can relate. Just not sure if the way I put it makes sense. Hope it helps.

I have an externally similar situation. My son is now 2 & we are just fine:heart: I know how hard it can be when all you want to do is call your family and share the news, but you realize there is no one to call. Better days ahead mama my inbox is open:blush:

Congratulations babies are a blessing!! The best advice I can give you is worry about your little one maybe in time people will come around if not it’s their loss in the end!! I believe in you…you can do it sometimes it feels like you have no idea what your doing or how you are going to get through it but you will!! Congratulations again hope you and the baby stay healthy!!
