Kid safe hair dye?

Hey moms! Any recommendations for kid safe hair dye? My 4 yr old son has been asking for red hair for years!

Manic panic or arctic fox! That’s what I use for my 4 and 5 year old! Comes out in about 4-5 washes

Hairstylist here and mother of four. I would go for Arctic fox. Do it in a well ventilated area and if possible, do not get the dye on the scalp and roots. Think like dying the tips or putting some streaks in the hair.

I would use a chalk first. 4yos dont really get permanence. Even semi and demi dyes can have long lasting issues.

I can’t remember what it’s called but there is a hair dye at Sally’s that doesn’t require any developer or anything like that. I believe it was also plant based so you don’t have to worry about chemicals. My daughter wanted hot pink and we were able to do her whole head 3 times with the one bottle and it washes out after maybe like 6 to 10 washes.

Arctic fox dyes are semi-permenant but great to use for kids, they don’t require any developer to use and it smells good. Hair grows out or you can cut the colored parts out/shave his head when he’s over it. I let my oldest bleach and dye his hair when he was 9-10 years old because he made all As and Bs on his report card, Ive been dying my hair various colors his entire life so it’s never been a taboo thing my kids. :person_shrugging: Just avoid blue unless you want to have to use harsh chemicals to remove or shave his head. Lol

Barber and mom. I use arctic fox on myself, my kids and clients. No damage. Smells really good!!

We got red hair paste/gel and fixed his hair with it and gave him red tips. Washes out and it looked great

I use pulp riot or joico on my daughter and it washes out within a month or so

Kool aid works really well.

I used koolaid on my kids. If your child has dark hair then it won’t work well.

Anything vegan. Like manic panic or arctic fox. If their hair is blonde, it takes better. But even on brown hair it still adds a tint. It’s a semi permanent colour, no chemicals. It washed out gradually.
