Looking for car recommendations. Specifically an SUV with a 3rd row & advice on whether you prefer captain seats or bench seats in the 2nd row as well as what the car seat setup is!

I absolutely love my Honda pilot
I’ve had the Durango and currently a pilot. The pilot has more leg room, the Durango has more head space (taller). Both were super comfy and smooth driving/riding. I had bench seats in both, I didn’t like the bench seats in the Durango, however the pilots bench is 60/40 split and either side slides up for super easy access to the third row. I can comfortably climb back there! In the Durango I had two forward facing harnesses in the third row and a rear facing toddler in the second row. Currently have 2 forward facing harnesses in the third and a booster in the second row. My middle daughter can buckle and unbuckle herself so she sits behind the booster seat and my 3 year old is on the other side so I can easily access her seat and buckles. Also my toddlers can both climb into the pilot by themselves, the Durango was too tall and with the seats only folding down I had to lift the littles into the third row.
The only major seating downfall with the pilot is that both middle seats in the back rows are useless. You couldn’t even fit 3 12 year olds across comfortably. But if you aren’t planning to have more than 4 kids, and all of them in the outer seats, it’s the way to go! And the gas is pretty decent, I average 22 city and 26 hwy, the Durango got slightly less at around 19 city and 22 hwy. Both V6. Rear cargo space is about the same, the Durango had a few extra inches front to back, the pilot has the ability to drop the cargo mat down about 4 inches, which is actually a ton of extra space!
I hate our durango. I want a 2021 ford explorer. It has captain seats. We had an explorer before we got a durango and I really liked it
I want an 8 seater Tahoe. I have a traverse it works well the 3 seats are in the 3rd row and then the 2 seats so we can get access to the third row easier. We also have a journey and I can’t stand it. The 3 seats are in the middle and it’s hard to access the 3rd row and very limited space in the cargo area.
I have a Kia Telluride and its great!
