Milk allergy symptoms?

I just switched my son to whole milk from milk based formula. I did it slowly. He’s been having diarrea. Has anyone also experienced this? How long should I wait for him to adjust before assuming he needs lactaid? TIA.

If he was on a milk based formula he shouldn’t have a bad reaction to lactose I’d be concerned may be something he is coming down with

  • you can switch it now. Why wait? My little girl, gave her whole milk at the beginning and i started noticing it and gave her lactaid

How old is he? If he is under two, I would keep him on the formula and try again at the age of two.

Talk to his dr not Facebook

First off may wanna see his doc, my daughter did that which shes lactose intolerant anyway her ped said that it happens sometimes when kids transition to regular milk

It’s normal until their body adjusts to it. I’m going through the same stage

I’d say ask the doctor. In the mean time probably wouldn’t hurt to try lactose free. My youngest was opposite she was on soy formula but was able to tolerate milk just fine.

Kids change, when i changed my son to whole milk he was doing good for a year. Now hes 2 and hes intolerant to lactose so he takes lactid

It can be very normal to have this reaction when switching even when done slowly. As long as little one is eating and staying hydrated id five it no more than a week. I’d also consider trying 2% or lactose free until you can see pediatrician

Are you giving him whole or 2%. Whole is hard on there tummy. You may want to try 2% if not already

He doesn’t need regular milk at all as long as he gets calcium from other foods

He may need soy milk or goat milk. I’ve never been able to handle whole milk…even as a baby. Dairy allergies are very common. Seek a doctors opinion also.

We had to put my oldest (now 5) on lactaid. We then transitioned at 18 months with whole milk and haven’t had a problem since.

I would say if there is a history of food allergies in your family particularly to cow’s milk it is safe to probably assume that your baby is allergic to regular milk and I would strongly urge you to get the Lactaid. I started my son on Lactaid milk because he is 10 months old and at a year old he will stop drinking milk based formula and he seems to be doing okay. What I’ve been doing is I’ve been giving him one bottle of milk a day with cow’s milk the Lactaid and the rest of the time formula bottles and he seems to be doing okay because there is a very strong family Allergy to cow’s milk.

My son had Diahrea for about a week when he got fully switched over. Dr said it was normal his body was just adjusting to the change and it went away within the week

My son is will be 1 in three weeks and we are having the same issue. His doctor told us it was normal. He only likes his formula at bed time.

Try a little corn syrup. It worked for us.
