My 1-year-old does not like milk: Advice?

He doesn’t need milk at all and he shouldn’t be taking a bottle anymore. And he should be getting mostly water.

I did this for a couple months first

Are you warming it? I had some babys at my daycare like that and once I started warming it they got use to it, and eventually started drinking it cold.

We had to give my son lactade cuz he couldnt do regular milk

Try lactose free milk, he may be lactose intolerant

Try almond milk, I hate cow milk, but I love almond milk. Cow milk tastes disgusting to me. He probably doesnt like the taste of it.

Milk isn’t necessary for our diet. He might just not like milk. Just make sure he’s getting calcium and vitamin d by supplementing through his diet.

I would try almond, coconut, cashew and whatever tf other options are out there now first but in all reality we don’t “need” milk the way they try to say we do. It was a huge advertising scheme and it worked! Talk to your dr💯 Maybe a supplement or something is in order but otherwise just offer him water more🤷‍♀️ Juice all day isn’t good either though.

He doesn’t HAVE to have milk as long as he gets calcium from another source

If you give in and give him formula when he does that then he will repeat the behavior. Say it’s milk or nothing. Then if he goes without you’ll know that’s not the case. If that’s the issue, then I’d suggest talking to his doctor about seeing a nutritionist and giving him all those vitamins and calcium from different sources…

Will he drink water? If he eats enough dairy maybe water in his bottle would be o.k.

Try water with his meals. Cut milk with formula 1 to 3 for starters

She didn’t ask if he should be off the bottle. She asked about milk.

My daughter didn’t like milk and still doesn’t. I just gave her juice or water.

My sister when she was little refused to drink cows milk out of her bottle, but would drink it out of a sippy cup. My son refused milk and formula after he weaned himself of the boob, so we supplemented with cheese and yogurt.

( i didnt read all the comments) but my mom when my siblings were younger she used goats milk.

There is so much in WHOLE milk that children need at that age. Go talk to a pediatrician about your concerns.

Some kids just don’t like cows milk. And that’s ok. All you have to do is make sure he’s getting enough calcium and other vitamins. Try other dairy, and try alternative milks, like almond or oat. It’s also perfectly ok for him to just have water sometimes. Hopefully you find something that works soon, because I know how frustrating it is having to buy so much formula.

Then dont give it to him.

My son never cared for milk. His pediatrician was not concerned in the slightest by the fact. He only really likes water and will drink juice on occasion. He had a healthy diet of solid foods so we stopped trying with the milk. Weening him off of bottles was super simple because he didn’t like it and we stopped using formula. If you are worried about I would set up an appointment or call your pediatrician for advice.

Gradually switching helped my kids. 1oz milk 7 oz formula for a week. 2 oz milk 6 oz for a week…
Served at the same temperature as originally used.
I also introduced 1-2 oz in a cup with meals for familiarity. Good luck. Formula is pricey.

U have to do it slow. Start w just an ounce of milk mixed w formula n put less formula n more milk every week

Try mixing the formula with milk again. I did 2 oz of milk and 6 of formula. Then after 2 days i went half and half. 2 days later i went 2 oz formula and 6 of milk. By friday she was drinking straight milk.
The key is to heat up the milk. I always just uses tap water so her formula was never fridge cold.
Just try mixing and hearing it up for a few seconds

My son was the same until he went to nursery he wouldn’t touch milk then he started drinking it in nursery as he followed the other kids have you tried warming it up a little bit or adding something a bit sweet into it also try yogurts and cheese so they’re still getting calcium

Milk isnt that great for you anyway and adding flavored syrup that is loaded with sugar isn’t good. If he eats a variety of healthy foods, i wouldn’t worry too much about it.

My daughter is the same way she is 16 months ND I have been trying to give her milk since about 11-12 months!!! I tried mixing it with formula, adding strawberry flavor ND chocolate flavor, tried warming it up, nothin she just won’t drink milk unless she’s eating cereal!!! She will eat cheese ND yogurt but plain milk nope nothin!!!

My boy did the same thing. So I just fed him yogurt and cheese. Also he loved this Danable smoothies. You can find them with the yogurt.

I had to add vanilla carnation instant breakfast to my 5 yr old daughters milk to get her to drink it. Now she’ll only drink chocolate milk, and not very often. She eats yogurt, and cheese, so she gets plenty of calcium.

My son did the same thing. We found a smoothie/yogurt that he liked and added milk little by little until he drank the milk plain.

Almond milk, Lactaid, maybe he knows something you don’t!

My son did the same thing. Later on we found out he has a milk allergy.

As long as they get dairy in their diet they are fine. Milk is processed and loaded with sugar. If he is healthy don’t stress. My boys will drink anything’s but will all for water over anything

My daughter had wic help with pediasure they are lactose but packed full of stuff they need to grow

My son did the same thing I had to put Nestle strawberry in it or he wouldn’t drink it

Just don’t give it to him? I’m going to just say this, I’m not one of those "drinking milk is unethical we don’t need it"people, but we don’t need milk lol You can get your vitamins and calcium from other sources. Maybe he just doesn’t like milk, don’t force him to drink something if he doesn’t want it.

coconut or almond milk? evaporated milk watered down? a special cup to drink it in?

Just done give it him and make up for calcium rich foods x

I have never liked milk. Found out that I am lactose intolerant. Even in my baby bottles I didn’t want it. I was an adult when this was discovered. Listen to your children.

Id start mixing a little bit of whole milk into the formula mile. 3/4 formula and 1/4 milk. Gradually put more milk and less formula. Do a few days at this ratio then a few days with ablittle les formula and so on. Til eventually no more formula.

Try lactaid or almond milk?

Cut off the formula completely n just give him a cup of milk. If he’s thirsty enough he will drink the milk.
As soon as my son turned one I got rid of all the formula and baby bottles.
My son doesn’t like water but I still give him it during the day n only gets juice or milk with meals because he’ll just suck them down in 2 minutes and keep looking for more. Good luck hun!

Try giving him almond milk or carnation good start .

You can buy that carnation instant breakfast it comes in different flavors. But my little girl wouldnt touch milk when she was little still wont too much today. But she drunk that such great because it dont taste much like milk. But you can add water or milk to the mix and it comes in a can or packs

U can give him yogurt and cheese to supplement the milk that’s what wic told me

Milk is not good for you anyways. Plenty of foods that will give him the calcium he needs

We are in the same boat, but with a breastfed baby. I have tried everything, I find mixing a little vanilla almond milk helps, he drank more than 1 sip. We are going to try the banana almond milk next

Its not a bad thing your child doesn’t like animal milk

For my son to drink milk i had to heat it up for him… He liked tge warmth and eventually just drank it without it bein warm.

He may not be able to tolerate cows milk. Sometimes they are trying to tell you something. My daughter us grown now and still cannot tolerate milk. Try some of others like was suggested…

He might be allergic to something

Well at age one it’s ok to not drink milk, besides one year of age is old enough to drink from a cup and juice is good for him too! My daughter hated milk at age one she wouldn’t drink it anymore, or eat eggs still want, she grown, she has three small kids two lives milk , one hates it just like her! They all like ice cream and she loves ice cream but not milk, try different things, milk shakes, ice cream, yogurt, make a game of it!

Sounds crazy but my kids went through a phase of not drinking milk so I made colored milf for.them by adding sugar free cool aide to the milk and they loved it

Leave him on formula a while longer it wont hurt him

Take him off of a bottle. Maybe he’ll drink it out of a cup
